And so it is, that both the Devil and the angelic Spirit present us with objects of desire to awaken our power of choice. There is an invisible strength within us; when it recognizes two opposing objects of desire, it grows stronger.
Rumi

Weeds persecute the gardens of my mind,
bad seeds are instigators for the unkind,
so, I plant vibrant petals for tomorrow,
did you know blossoms can feel sorrow?
I support them to bloom in delicate silence,
but strange paranoia is a relic of violence.
It hurts when withheld wounds are exposed,
life is better when I keep my eyes closed.
Should I apologise for my sullen demeanor,
so they can misjudge and become meaner?
I've become a misunderstood metaphor,
in a world of words not understood before.
I'm not an angelic devil nor a sinful saint,
but sense of shame is like polluted paint.
I'm tired from deadly brain sucking vampires,
draining my reservoir of peaceful empires.
Will it ever dawn upon the ignorant,
if I could turn back time it would be different.
In childhood we painted our faces on stars,
some looked for Venus, but I preferred Mars.
How we followed a colourful spectrum's shadow,
wondering if rain flows along the rainbow.
But in time imagination loses it's power,
we expire like dead seeds and forget to flower.
Is the pantomime of pain I've endured not plenty?
Can guilt bleed me dry, until all my sins empty?
Set me free from confines of jilted desire,
release me from burning in regret's bonfire.
Madness of my muse will never disown me.
In this hell I smile, as I still have my poetry.

Contest We Don'T Need No Stinking Contests

Contests! good for building egos up

great for knocking creativity down

as I pore over words and sounds

to make my poetry jump off the page

to come alive in others minds

in the most imaginative way.

Contests! we don't need them

they drive us crazy every day

putting our best foot forward

and doing something that is brave

putting your art out there for judging

nurtured and created with much loving

only to be brutally dimissed

or even worse maybe even savaged

Contests! Huh, well this I find an interesting challenge

maybe I will just have a go at this

rise to the challenge and try to win it

not because I don't think it still stinks

but because in my own way we become

ever so slightly addicted to it

looking for some kind of justification

for writing poetry and putting it out to the nations

or just because we have a competitive edge

contests! I've won a couple so see what's next

see if I can be the best, I mean i wish everyone all the best

I just enter for a bit of fun, not to be just number one!

but being unplaced leaves me undone

but hey, let's show a little grace keep a smile upon our faces

swallow this bitterest pill and compete until they lose the will

to misjudge my work again, I am the top contestant man!

enter contests or be dammed, stinking contests drive me mad

Argh!!!! is that even a word?

Premium Member 24 Hours

Last night I had a long and restless night,
I couldn't sleep, I tried with all my might.

I couldn't get the “ phrase 24 hrs out of my head,
so next thing you know I stumbled out of my bed.

And I began to think about my life and all that I had done,
I thought about my many failures and victories I had won.

But I thought about having only 24 hrs left,
would I be selfish and only think about self

Yes, I have to make my wrongs right,
strive to love and not give up the fight.

I will try my best to be the version of me
and forgive others and let bygones flee.

I have no time to hold a grudge
or sit around and misjudge.

I just want to live my very best life
and let go of misery and strife.

Spend valuable time with my precious babies,
forget about the should have beens and maybes.

Our time on earth goes by extremely fast,
so with my 24 hrs I will strive to have a blast.

Premium Member My Brilliant Nephew Guy

I did not think you knew what an azimuth was, I said to Guy.
“I am not a Neolithic,” he told me with a sniff, I know why…
Some people misjudge this brilliant child of two months past twelve.
His mind goes where others have never had the chance to delve.

What do you use it for? I asked, testing him just a bit.
“to install satellite dishes,” he said. He is a precocious little chit.
We were at the Wambuul river where the Casuarina trees grow.
Not an elegant place, but it suited us down to each toe.

Guy suggested knapping a bit of flint while we were here.
I had some of my tools so I said “of course, why not? where?”
His mind was lightyears away, for he had his brain in a book.
Reading about quasars, for his mind grabs knowledge like a hook.

The White Tiger

A pure-hearted soul, a floating shining spirit,

The honest power to make someone clearest,

A natured life, where all suffer and feel,

But yet, the strongest must have no fear,

The passion the connects us all might disappear,

But only the trust would last longer to bear,

Criticize, criticize, without any shame,

It's you that one who'd take the blame,

Upon the fallen angels of devotion,

Go and regain yourself some emotion,

A human whose manners are misunderstood,

What we do is what shall we could,

The looks where we misjudge the closest,

No matter how far, no matter near,

This is unfairly the pain we bear,

The heart of the faith and hope will reveal,

Upon the disheartened ones should never be mere,

Inner beauty can't be seen,

But the glowing of a fair hero shall be clear,

Clear and pure enough to thee,

To shut the misbehave to ease,

The better person shall upheave,

Is the one who suffered all the calamity,

Regret of the mistreat will be seen,

For the future's sake, all peace, just wait,

Loyalty to love is so tender,

Which tender is so keen,

But can be broke, betrayal is the thief,

But only the traitor will culminate,

His dark deeds would engulf him,

That's the punish, ending covers,

All those people shall be diminished,

Just see and wait, and bear the thee,

Sibyl will come to bless all the hurt ones,

The pure ones who have sharp patience,

As sharp as a knife, that is the thrive,

You can have it, it's what you contain,

A piercing tiger heart is what you sustain,

Go equalize and dilate,

Go and run toward the gate,

The gate of dreams, achieve the hope,

Go floating like a tiger without a rope,

Just high-five the sky,

Come on and give it a smile,

From your pure heart that should be,

Pure, pure as a white blaze,

Awaiting the awakening of the wind,

So just be it, a white blaze,

With a pure heart, no need to rephrase,

Also keep on dreaming, and be sharp,

Like a tiger how you should be,

That a human, like how you are,

A white tiger is what you are.

Joseph, Mary, a Donkey and Democrats

A donkey carried Mary and her unborn child to Bethlehem
Joseph sturdily led the way on foot it has been penned
The donkey proved a faithful friend to Joseph and Mary
It got them to where they had to be on time and safely
The Democratic Party’s donkey logo was picked to demonstrate
How staunch democratic members normally operate
Taking deliberate moves on behalf of its constituency
Sacrificing speed for cautious concern and dependability
Donkeys are known to be stubborn and may refuse to budge
Like indecisive Democrats inclined to delay and misjudge
I applaud the Democratic Party’s’ efforts to serve so diligently
Its donkey logo fits their political and historical identity
After all, if the donkey was good enough for Joseph and Mary
How can I disagree, a Democratic sinner who prays infrequently?

Premium Member Blinded By Hate

amnesia sets in
selective memory
forgetting the gossip
written in a rhyme
poison inked words
splatter on the screen
to demean
to be mean
misjudge
tattle taler
repeat hater
carries on...
others pics forgotten
other words forgotten
hate fueled
hate sated
the true state
not debated
never stopping to think
could be wrong
has to push down
to be strong

and so it goes on
wrong after wrong
and like the publican
feels good to pray
and say
"Thank God...I'm not like others....a sinner
I'm a winner!"
Morality laden
A chaste maiden

Oh, but erased
is not defaced
there is another record
One with a trace
Seen by another Judge
ONE not common place
a remembered name
a remembered face

and I?

Well, I rest my case....

For I am nothing
but a sinner
in need of grace

A New Dawn: a New Hope

As the dusk takes leave of the weary day,
A new dawn of hope and dreams make its way.
Yesterday's a closed chapter of our life,
Do not rewind your thoughts, it will bring strife.

Reminiscing on past failures bring pain,
Letting your future plans go all in vain.
Why let failure interfere with success,
Move on with perseverance to progress.

A new dawn comes with new hopes and chances,
To let you sail on the sea of success.
Never misjudge your power, let it shine,
Do your best and it shall be fit and fine.

Hark! A dark dusk always bring a bright dawn,
That energises you and gives you brawn.
Do not let failures pose a threat to you,
Failures are disguised chances, note the clue.

War of Hearts

WE BATTLE THE HATE OF ANGER,
WE ABUSE THE POWER OF LOVE,
WE MISTRUST THE MEANING OF
FAITH, WE MISJUDGE THE
STRENGTH OF GOD....

A WAR OF HEARTS WE CHEAT,
THOU WE BARGIN TO CHANGE, BUT
PAY THE COST AGAINST THE
ENEMIES WHO TRY TO INLUDE
US.....

TIME CAN STOP, THE MOMENT WE
LET DREAMS DIE, DON'T HESITATE
TO KEEP THEM ALIVE, CROSS THE
LINE....

PRAYER IS THE HEALING, PEACE IS
THE GENERATION, LOVE IS THE
GIFT, GOD IS THE ANSWER,,,,

Dream Scape

People were
Disconnected
From the flow of
Years gone by.
Nothing is reflected.

The tower of this land
Collapses,
Leaving nothing left in it’s place,
It’s gone now,
Time relapses.

This body is
Frayed and distorted,
But without a mind and consciousness,
It still moves on.
Time is reloaded.

The beating and breathing of this heart,
Is destroyed again, now
Evanescence.
A conscious mind is gone,
Anyway, anyhow.

The chains
Are gone,
No longer holding it,
The Dream will go
Until dawn.

Eyes misjudge
This fleeting dream,
But it still
Looks for the “Dreamscape”,
But with nothing to redeem.

I am Fantasy,
I am a dream.
But my Dreamscape
Cannot be destroyed,
I will shout and scream.

Notice
Me,
Now

Humanity

Ill will
Hatred
Malignant
Malign
Malicious
Spiteful
Dirt under feet
Have tried
Have cried
The woes
The strife
The sleepless nights
Haunting thoughts
Of no one there
Fills the air
Something of sorrow
Today and tomorrow
Where do we borrow
Hearts not made of sorrow
Life that's not hollow
Or made to wallow
Misjudge
Mislabel
Misgiving
Misfortune
The dead and
The living
Kicked when down
It's all around
The cycle is long
And overdue to end
It just takes a moment
Humanity
My friends

Premium Member Justice Roberts

Perhaps Justice Roberts is a just judge

But agin' the folks he must hold a grudge

        Bushie is scratchin' his pate

"What a mess I did create

When I named him, did I ever misjudge!"

Judged At First Sight

A moment, a glimpse
Was enough to make up your mind
It bears a gossip for your lips
My character harshly defined

With grime on my shoes
I pay less attention to my looks
Clothes within my reach is all I choose
Judged by the covers, like the books

On our very first meet
I smiled to you but lost your eye contact
You eyeballed me head to feet
Your hello had a tone of distrust

My accent, attracts dissent
You misjudge me if it is foreign
Always lost in the translations
Never rescued without a stereotype

Look into my eyes, and not my garment
Listen to my words and not my accent
Know me by the day and by the night
And you won’t judge me at first sight

Premium Member Beware - Yellow Jackets Can 'sting' You

They fly around our streets in packs
We see them lurking almost every day
Don’t misjudge them in time or place
Or there will be more than hell to pay

Their beady eyes don’t miss a trick
Yellow jackets hover like pesky flies
One minute late and they will sting
The fine will be paid in painful cries

Arrive at your car in plenty of time
Don’t get there with a second to spare
Your car is marked, and they will swoop
Those yellow jackets make people swear!

Inspired after seeing two parking wardens in our village today.
(In the UK the traffic wardens wear black and yellow jackets)
