For Sotto Poet's Appreciation, Anger, Air and Angelic poetry contest.  The poem is written in response to Rumi's quote..

Angelic devil by Chris Giles

And so it is, that both the Devil and the angelic Spirit present us with objects of desire to awaken our power of choice. There is an invisible strength within us; when it recognizes two opposing objects of desire, it grows stronger. Rumi
Weeds persecute the gardens of my mind, bad seeds are instigators for the unkind, so, I plant vibrant petals for tomorrow, did you know blossoms can feel sorrow? I support them to bloom in delicate silence, but strange paranoia is a relic of violence. It hurts when withheld wounds are exposed, life is better when I keep my eyes closed. Should I apologise for my sullen demeanor, so they can misjudge and become meaner? I've become a misunderstood metaphor, in a world of words not understood before. I'm not an angelic devil nor a sinful saint, but sense of shame is like polluted paint. I'm tired from deadly brain sucking vampires, draining my reservoir of peaceful empires. Will it ever dawn upon the ignorant, if I could turn back time it would be different. In childhood we painted our faces on stars, some looked for Venus, but I preferred Mars. How we followed a colourful spectrum's shadow, wondering if rain flows along the rainbow. But in time imagination loses it's power, we expire like dead seeds and forget to flower. Is the pantomime of pain I've endured not plenty? Can guilt bleed me dry, until all my sins empty? Set me free from confines of jilted desire, release me from burning in regret's bonfire. Madness of my muse will never disown me. In this hell I smile, as I still have my poetry.

SO, I'm feeling like you portray this soul's thoughts with incredible opposing force. I enjoyed reading it and applaud your creativity here! The last line is a release from this, which is good, since we wouldn't want anyone to be so consumed.

I have too many favourite lines, it would fill up the spaces. "I've become a misunderstood metaphor." That's too powerful. In bleeding we let it all out. You've done well with this piece Silent. It's a mix of everything together.

"I've become a misunderstood metaphor, in a world of words not understood before." Often we are misunderstood. We cannot make ourselves or our good intentions understood by all. This poem is a wonderful expression of the duality of life. Life is an adventure. It's never easy for anyone. But in the blistering desert of regrets and disappointments, there are cooling and soothing oases. For each one, they may be different.... for you it is poetry. For me it is gardening ! "Set me free from confines of jilted desire, release me from burning in regret's bonfire. Madness of my muse will never disown me. In this hell I smile, as I still have my poetry." These concluding lines I love a lot.

This poem is a strong spiritual statement. Rumi's quote is about the positive outcome of making healthy decisions in future, to fight against "weeds" that could strangle our desire to be as good as we are able to be. You fight back, by planting, nurturing, and supporting "vibrant petals" both in your garden, and in your poetry. Mindfully. The ignorant are in denial. Sane people struggle because they have a conscience, and this is what inspires us to "fight the good fight." I relate deeply. Hugs

a stunning and soulful poem, Silent One. I especially liked these lines: But in time imagination loses it's power, we expire like dead seeds and forget to flower. Is the pantomime of pain I've endured not plenty?" As always your imagery makes for a captivating and profound read. Your poetic gifts continue to amaze me. I agree...even on hellacious days I, too, still have poetry. Fabulous contest contender. Have a splendid weekend, Sara

A soulful write Silent One, “did you know blossoms can feel sorrow” yes I did know, I see daffodils nod their head when I have been upset. I hope we never forget to flower, not until our final hour. Never feel misunderstood, some of us have walked the same path you took. I’m pleased your muse never lets you down, poetry helps to keep one’s world spinning round… Beryl

Lovely rhythm as you delve into both sides of life's temptations, both of which build the power of choice in us. The loss of the imagination of our youth does rob us of many pleasant and pleasurable moment of adulthood. We do sometimes wonder if we somehow snuck into hell. We all have the ability to build chaos out of life. I enjoyed you thought-provoking poem, Silent One. A good entry for the contest, IMHO. Good luck, my friend! Bill

Potent dialogue of emotions exploring the depths of angelic spirits, my friend.--Is the pantomime of pain I've endured not plenty? Can guilt bleed me dry, until all my sins empty?--powerful expressions resonate throughout, SO.

Ah ofcourse you will choose rumi prompt. What a deeply moving write this is dear silent one. I love the softness of your voice flowing throughout this and also your rhymes and rhythm of your well articulated lines. With beautiful imagery and metaphors. So much has been conveyed and so many lines stood out for me but what stood out for me the most was “ In childhood we painted our faces on stars, some looked for Venus, but i preferred the mars” wow! Im speechless and im glad you chose mars as mars is for men and venus is for women. Hah! I also loved “ How we followed a colourful spectrum's shadow, wondering if rain flows along the rainbow.” Im speechless. Truly how you come up with such lines is beyond impressive
