Easter approaches on tender, Lily-white feet!
Most think only of chocolate Easter bunnies, a most delicious treat!

Or, of going Easter shopping in lovely, spacious malls.
They know not, the significance of what Easter means at all.

A man hung on a cross, and died to save humanity.
But the move is on to discredit Christ, who died on that tree!

Some children, of Him, only lies do parents tell!
They are told there is no God, no Heaven and no Hell.

The goal .....to make man, a god?
While our only end, is to lie dead, beneath that cold sod.

For believers, their eternal future is both divine and glorious.
Singing with the Angels in God’s chosen, golden chorus!

Living and Other Ways To Die

Maybe he ate his vitamins and their minerals and oranges and apples all at once again and again
Or ran laughing down the rugged rocks of a ruthless reality
Maybe he flew singing up to the cold concrete ceiling on a chair
Or drank dated dark liquid from a damp factory dumpsite
People think his lungs liked lighting the lily-white smoke they lived on
And I’ve even heard he sullenly slit several sections of his wrists so he could sign a letter

Maybe he jumped joyfully in front of a jeep window that had Jesus joining hands with Judas for prayer
Or pressed the pallets out of the pistol till the pieces pierced his parched throat
Maybe he took tablets off the table till they took their toll
Or cut carelessly into his chest’s cave and coincidentally revealed his heart
People say he bashed his brains out with a baseball bat
And some are sure he sucked in air and sat still till his stomach swelled

I say he lived life and loved and loathed
Living always kills you too quickly.

Bent Not Broken

I fight
tempestuous winds,
earth ablaze in feverish sky,

leaning flesh into fury
stem bends
giving
         the tempest an offering –
petal by petal

I lose
my phantom limbs
         and mark trails with tears

wisps of fragility beautify

blue skies tinged
heave and hurl
fantasizing of
light
        my lily-white peace

what doesn’t kill me
               feeds my soul
                       pours from my pen

my past's fury -
storms bluster
between mire and soiled sky

a wildflower's spirit
                       bends fearless

Tickling the Ivories

Walking slowly on the lily-white beach

winding down from the pressures of work

a warm breeze teases my sun-kissed cheek

and I thank God I'm here for a week

Sunrays sprinkling sensuous massages upon me

weary blue eyes concealed by darkened shades

I hear the tickling of the ivory, playing a tropical bossa nova

my happy feet follow the sound to the secluded seaside cabana

straddling the antique upright baby grand piano stands

the most gorgeous woman I've had ever the pleasure setting my eyes upon

her skin, so soft and smooth, a deep deep olive tone

her hair, a rich thick hazel, flowing down to the nape of her neck

her eyes, oh her eyes, sparkling, radiating peace and harmony

that angelic voice, singing such a beautiful tune

I stood star struck, speechless and staring

she whispered to sing along

how did she know my favorite song?

We sang and we laughed and we sang some more

In a blink of an eye the night was through

She grabbed my hand and we ran out into the surf

Running and splashing, kicking and kissing

We got soaked

I held her close and wrapped her in my shirt

Serenading the moonlit night under a sky so vast

We woke together wishing our fantasy would forever last

Bent Not Broken - Unedited Version

I fight
a battle against tempestuous wind
fury the earth’s ablaze in feverish sky

and I survivor
          search for home
                  through singed lenses
                         starved for one love
(little girl dreams never die)

I lean into hell's breath feel its fury

stems bend determined to give
the tempest an offering
                          petal by petal
                              golden flights of favor

I lose my phantom limbs
praise a fleeting feeling grief (sweet relief)
                                           freedom unburdening
I mark my trails with tears

soldiers unfurl (I am one)
ready to charge
solid gold into
                              blazing, wind-beaten sky

wisps of fragility beautify hostile views

over my shoulder
       golden crests of hope
               unbreakable stems strengthen

blue skies tinged heave and hurl
a fantasy of
cotton white clouds in peaceful sleep
It’s all I see my armor
                                   my lily-white peace

In battle a faceless enemy
exhumes victim’s scarred bodies
I stand unyielding ready to find hope in tears lost
I believe what doesn’t kill me
                              feeds my soul
                                      pours from my pen

Fury visits from a long gone past
hateful words fuel resentment
until forgiveness flickers -
a soft light within catches fire

still, stormy nights deepen terror
sucks me back into
blusters of memory
                                   between mire and soiled sky

A wildflower’s spirit bends
                                     (victim no more)
upon an unbreakable stem
                                     (never surrender)
Fearless one of many golden-crests

                                 Survivors are we

One Glance

Spotlights illuminate the market square stage

casting hints of light upon that lily white face

sipping iced coffee at the corner café

Music plays but my heartbeat drowns out the band

wishing for just one glance

just one chance

just one look

deep into those rich deep caramel eyes

Oh, how I would love her

Oh, how I be there for her

just one look

just one chance

the smiles I would bring

to my heartbeat you'd sing

We'd walk holding hands together through life

with God as our shining light

stopping to smell the daisies, the wildflowers

chasing the butterflies that roam free

just you and me

Oh glance my way

let this be my independence day

give my beating heart a chance

at a lifetime of romance

Premium Member Winter Wonderland

It began on a January day
as the trees coated in lily white snow
forgot summer and all its precious sway
Lost in a dream of frosty sparkle glow
my winter wonderland revived in toe
while I pressed my nose against the window;
I inhaled the silver blue of Godly ray
and watched the snowflakes falling to the ground
without making a sound. Paving the way
for the rose, and the pine, and the hound,
my heart was planted for a winter's found
with stardust hope from God's colossal bound
It brought forth memories of my family tree
the smiles and laughter shared in Montreal
back when I was small, sitting on dad's knee
I truly felt so loved, and very tall
Frosted silver bells, eyes that saw it all
winters came winters went, I heard the call
so I moved away. Though I don't know why,
I love it when it snows, its such a high.

Premium Member The Magic of Vanilla

The magic of vanilla stays with me, let’s explore.
Creamy rich dark and syrupy that smells like liquor
Eighty proof vodka and vanilla beans are needed
for crème de la crème vanilla extract
Who knew that in order to make Ice crème
ingredients must first be heated?
An oddity, whipping away
making it into buttercream
Color so pure and lily white
Vanilla is misunderstood
I’m a little mixed up
Aromas that bring me back
to my childhood
Vanillin scent candle so calming
Just add homemade vanilla
To anything is my conclusion
It’s a ventablack liquid
Sorry for the confusion
All apologies

The Angry Soup of Racism

ain't it a shame

when hate lynches
a 14 year old Colored boy
in 1955 Mississippi
and blows away the dreams of
four innocent little ***** girls
in 1963 Birmingham, Alabama

yeah
bus that to your segregated thoughts
as I interracially walk you
through Little Rock, Arkansas
with Daisy Bates & nine Black Children
to march along side the National Guard
on their way to a lily white school
as the message of this
un-segregates & untangles
the history of hate
attackin’ ******* in 1957
whose only desire was to be educated
and schooled too

racism & hate
doesn’t try to guide
the white citizen council back
to their good senses
‘cause racism
don’t care ‘bout nobody
being Jewish or Colored
when it needs to
fire-bomb
***** churches with ******* in them
or feels the need to hang someone
from a tree out of existence
racism even devours its own kkklan
as the innocent
pay the ultimate price

racism doesn’t care
if your church is the 16th Street Baptist
and 14 yr. old Addie Mae Collins
is one of the four black Alabama children
killed in attendance
racism ain’t concerned about
you being white either
or your last name being
White
Black
Brown
Till
Schwerner
Evers
Liuzzo
Mandela
Martin or Rodney King
and so many other names
that we’ll never know of
that racism wounded or buried six feet
under hate

racism doesn’t care about
what kinda NAACP dream
you’re having
or concerned about your last name
being "Parks" in 1955
when it attempts to guide you back
to the "Colored" section of the bus
where you know your
civil-rights will be denied
every time you allow
" segregation & discrimination"
to collects its fare

racism & its hateful followers
have no regard at all
for one’s race / religion
or sexual persuasion

especially when racism peers
into its discriminating mirror
century after century
time after time
day after day
and tells itself in 2006
"it’s better than you"
because you’re "cultured" different
from them"

yeah
racism stirs an ugly pot of soup
that no one should ever have to taste.

In Praise of Beauty

IN PRAISE OF BEAUTY

O beauty allure, beauty of the hyacinth
Doused by wailing drops of dew shroud
And pierced by the radiant shaft of heaven,
Through the rituals of purity
To tread the virginal soil of Venus.

O like the scenery
Of the splendid garden of Aphrodite,
With Pageantry, the art of Pothos and Himeros,
The pearly dross most sought after
Like a wand that spelled all the eyes of men.

Dazzling aurorae shimmering in deep shadows;
Figure beholding of the twinkling crown Andromeda.
Sunrise awakening the greenery;
Ascending furrowed amber terrain of
The gloaming by the countryside!

Habendum et tenedum!
Before the lily white altar an avowal
Of chastity and tranquility enshrined;
On feather quilted bed day and night
With love elixir soothing the body and the soul!

Soul melody in diatonic harmony of
Meshed contralto with resonating baritone.
Swell the homophonic rhythm of Azande
As the pitch from my lips wear and decline
And the tempo of my heart increase!

Scented lavender wafting through subtle air;
Aromatic morning of rose bathed with dew
That transports the mind beyond earthly realm
And capture the heart at whim
Lost in imagination of the form and frame.

Culinary variety spread in romantic atmosphere
In candlelight banquet of cream and crimson;
Sheer delicacy, man’s greatest savour
Whose delights subsist even in her absence;
Whose substance transcends life’s ideal!

Premium Member In Arabian Palace Alcove- a Tale of Love

In alcove of the palace on that night
I felt the rush of pleasure and delight
He pressed me to the wall and forced a kiss
I nearly fainted as I tasted bliss

The dark and handsome Prince of kingdom fair
He ran his fingers through my raven hair
And then he burned my mouth with hungry lips
I felt the clutch of hands upon my hips

I could not breath, all thought had taken flight
He was of royal blood and noble height
Pervading every dream, he’d ravished me
And now each longing wish had come to be

He whispered in my ear, “I’ll make you Queen!
Though servant now you are, your slave I’ve been
I’ve wanted you from moment you walked by
You fill my life, oh darling of my eye!"

And then he planted kiss on heaving breast
His lips in need to be my bosom guest
He pulled back then and looked into my eyes
“The man who touches you, THAT man, he DIES!

“No one will taste your nectar, none but I
I’ll speak to Sultan; rules will change, I’ll try
To take as wife a slave of common birth
For there is none as fair upon this earth.”

He crushed me to himself and walked away
I waited for my Prince both night and day
A summon came to speak to Sultan then
“My son’s to wed, I’ll tell you where and when.

I found for him a princess fair and bright
Her skin is soft and supple, lily white
She is my brother’s girl, his next of kin
Forget him dear, his love for you is sin.”

I wept that night as I walked to my door
Constrained to take my life, the poison pour
When soon my ears did hear the wondrous sound
Of steed in haste, his hoofs pounding the ground

He came to me and begged me to forgive
My love he needed if he were to live
He laid me on my bed and did implore
“I have your soul, but now I beg for more.”

By candle light the Prince made love to me
I sighed, I cried, I died, he set me free!
“Arise my love, let’s leave this cursed place
You’re now my wife, oh girl of angel face.”

To kingdom fair, we bade a last farewell
My joy and rapture none but heart can tell
We lived a life of love and sweet repose
He was MY Prince and I his Passion Rose.

REFRAINS OF WINTER SONATA

When fallen brown leaves brush a sepia picturesque
and the bubbly breeze blows a heated winter sonata,
the giant roses of clouds are teased, they shed
icy petals tumbling, drifting like little ballerinas

dropping to rest on branches of trees, grasses, houses
and down to window ledges clustering in lily-white hues.
Frosty mornings and nights lure the need for warmth
from brewed coffee, a kiss or just a minute of touch...

Absorbing the air, alone, I wander to the cover-walks,
I see children tramping and playing on hills of frost,
some couples carelessly sliding, they laugh out loud,
yet afar, some robins, deer and beggars frown in despair

as they are homeless. No fire nor a person to cuddle with.
No adequate food to eat nor a flowing water to drink too...
Cold. Wet. All white, frozen snow-tears are in their eyes
and so I am one afternoon, a year and six months ago.

The winter atmosphere can stir love passions within
but how can it all be when the only woman, I love.
I wanted to marry and ready to give my all: refused me?
She, slowly walking away, leaving me crying-- a snow.

NEANDERTHAL

In times gone by, now recondite,
Neanderthal, erect, upright,
spoke softly, tones so lily-white,
and tried to put the world aright.

He taught us how the flame ignites
that wearing furs will warm the nights,
just why the rolling wheel excites,
and how the beveled flint stone bites.

Before the days of dynamite
he fought his foes with spit and spite,
and swung big sticks with all his might,
and rendered death with stones in flight.

Engaged in never-ending fight
(arenas were a global sight)
he forced his forces to unite
to sate his oily appetite.

To quell rude thoughts that may incite
he ruled the realm with fly-by-nights
and culled the winds of words in flight,
and darkened minds to anthracite.

With fairy tales of evil sprites
and how the fist of freedom smites,
he washed the world with flames alight
to vanquish hoards of parasites.

Each dawn the damage brought delight,
the foe was bent, a bit contrite…
yet battled on with no respite
until the dusk and evening light.

Encamped beside the firelight
Neanderthal, that shiny Knight,
awaited morn while sitting tight
assured the end would be alright.

Yes, conquest seemed his sacred right…
Forevermore?… well, no, not quite…
Neanderthal's extinct tonight
and lies beside the Trilobite…

MORAL
The Oreo is round, not bright:
while rolling near the candlelight
at first the searing seemed so slight,
the molten cream an oversight…

NOTE:
This screed has nothing to do with the noble Neanderthal (whose brain size exceeded our own).
It has nothing to do with 'times gone by' (though who knows what future beings may see and think).
It has nothing to do with anything…
and even less to do with something…
unless of course, you think it does….

Always a smile ambassador of light beams
forever inside joy escapes in silent tongues
a gentle whisper blows kisses from these soft lips
in each others company love is perfect

Sovereign ruling commands within the beholders eyes
always will be a sharing devotion
kissing under the moonlight cradle
smiling shadows join when holding each others hands

Precious binding union stands powerful as our souls mate
with faith held in your words they sing out one kindred tune
into each others eyes hope glistens platinum through the sparkle
diamond joining each others dreams through jewels true magic gleams

Shines pure a marriage under one circle love when complete
forever young and ageless, like a star yes awestruck
one star that forever winks chanting an angel vision once held
blinding beautiful shooting magic into very breath gasping

You are the best breathless trailing sparkles
enchanting all candle light dazzling supreme
with you I feel warmly embraced deeply touched
as the queen enters standing tall before these eyes

Sweet romance blossoms blowing darkness to the wind
shining beautiful always crowns one rose in your smile lawless
without words safely guarded within a big loving heart
crying out inside one wish to wipe away each and every teardrop

Happiness serves a pleasure having the purity of spirit in always sharing
in the same winds that howls through corridors which echo a place
inside the heart ruling supreme in the palace stands a regal dream this vessel
sweetly sails into the rising sun golden crowning kneels kisses your lily white hand
