Best Lightning Poems
Lightning rarely strikes without thunder,
causing havoc in gloomy skies.
Humans can't control their plunder,
seeking shelter until the storm dies.
Once, I was your prince - full of charm
and you my willing Cinderella.
Kept you safe from storms that could harm,
just like a human umbrella.
We danced from spring until the fall
and laughed so much, until you cried.
Now here I stand, trying to recall,
that exact moment the music died.
Those eyes of soft chocolate brown,
gleamed with your sweet tender smile.
Now all you seem to do is frown,
and even a glance seems like a trial.
Its been such a long time
since my kiss made those lips quiver,
and my hands didn't commit a crime,
but now my touch makes you shiver.
To unlock those sad songs in your mind,
I couldn't sing the correct lyrics.
Still the right words, I struggle to find
as I love you, doesn't raise your spirits.
As our love begins to rot,
regret plants seeds of discontent.
Yet my love remains, but yours does not,
as you lose yourself in malcontent.
How ironic as you walk away,
the radio plays our special song.
I don't have the strength to make you stay,
after all, it would only be wrong.
Your ghost will linger in the gust
with memories that wish to remain.
When bridges burn, ashes turn to dust,
its difficult to erase this pain.
Take away the frost of winter,
rid the land of biting snow,
then who would praise the warmth of August,
how could April rivers flow?
Hush the deafening crash of thunder,
dull the flash of lightning's thorn,
and who would feel the calm of silence,
when the still of dawn is born?
Sow your seeds of evergreens
so that spring’s soil year-round conceives,
then who could reap the multi-colored
glory of October leaves?
Look beyond this thick façade,
you'll find four seasons in my soul,
but take away a piece of winter
and you'll leave me cut, unwhole.

A spark cast by a careless deed,
it catches fire and sparks twigs weed.
A hushed town that is dull at last,
a Careless deed, by a spark cast.
East winds howl to display their might,
and spout flames to a sturdy height.
Blaze any grace in that house foul,
to display their might, east winds howl.
Oh, fiery Fire, the town explodes!
with no farewell, let's hit the road.
One sleeps on tack others on dire,
the town explodes! Oh, fiery fire.
None shall remain where the wind passed,
this life, I think, can't be surpassed.
The town wept and the nation pain,
where the wind passed, none shall remain.

Into the mist which settles upon the waters
Tempered elements connect and clash
Each vying for dominance within their domain
Lightning chases Thunder throughout forlorn skies
The harder she cracks her brilliant, whip the further he runs
In pain he roars through pitch black skies
Man stands in awe of the battle displayed
And the heavens hang low and cry pouring rain

Note: Inspired by "The perfect Storm" Very sad ending, yet, one of my favs.
Strike me with your ligjtning of love,
electrify every fiber of my being
with the violet voltage
that your soul can unleash,
spell love upon my soul
with a bolt of tongue thunder,
make me vibrate vulnerable,
deliver unto me the raw of passion
flashing like a cyclone
of lethal caress,
buckle me blind to my knees
pleading for revelation ruthless,
I tremble in your storm of seduction,
bleeding straight into your mouth
of wet fire,
shock me strikingky into the center of salvation,
elevate my erected ethos of eternity,
let me lavish You with a lodestone
of unmistakable loyalty,
I pour upon your majesty
a lava from the bowels of bravery,
I harness your storm heat
in the palms of my oceanic urge,
exploding through a riptide of desire surge,
I want every part of your wild atmosphere,
the lips of your thunder tempting my testimony
to speak the truth of temptation,
Light my sky with lust,
make me star gaze
into your eyes of terrible amor,
I want you like I want the crown of the Universe,
I collapse into your catastrophe of love,
knowing that you will not abandon Me,
that You will serve Me the love that I need -

I'm as free as the wind as I sway in the saddle!
I love life! There's no clutter, nothing to addle!
I give my faithful horse Wild Lightning free rein,
As we meander across God's magnificent terrain!
My pal Spooks trots ahead surveying sagebrush and crags.
I sense that he enjoys life too by the tail he wags!
I crave no roof - the wide-open range is my home.
Territorial bounds don't confine me - freely I roam!
Well-worn saddlebags contain my earthly possessions.
I don't aspire riches nor am I burdened by obsessions.
My soul abounds with wealth as I view His Creation!
Ah! The grandeur of it all! 'Tis ample compensation!
I pause on a knoll viewing the vast panorama and ponder,
The river, a lake, those snow-capped mountains o'er yonder!
In the valley a herd of pronghorn antelope gambol and play.
At dusk The Master Artist paints a majestic sunset display!
Campfire embers slowly die - Wild Lightning grazes nearby.
Spooks lies at my feet - snug in my blanket I gaze at the sky.
I anticipate being awakened by a glorious sunrise next morn,
When Wild Lightning, Spooks and I continue our vagabond bourne!

How was I to know a lightning bolt
would zig-zag into me? My body lies there on the ground,
a nurse, doing CPR.
Shocked voices. All eyes focused on the victim.
While over the way, I stand. Separate. Watching.
I move to tap a friend’s shoulder, saying, that’s me. But my hand
goes straight through. Spooked. Why doesn’t he know I’m here?
Floating upstairs, the foggy image of my legs, and physical self,
shimmer and disappear.
I find my wife on the other side of a wall. She’s reading,
to our youngest grandson. Bluish light shines around me,
clear and bright. But neither look up.
Suffused with pure love and energy, I’m attached
to everything, movement unrestricted.
Jolted back into my body, it’s agony. Sirens scream. Police .
Ambulance. Lights flash, white, red and blue.
Morphine. Sleep. Slow recovery.
But I’m not the same person. As a child,
I couldn’t stand classical music it. Hated the piano.
Now I ‘m driven to learn. That’s why I came back.
Taught myself to read music, plunked out tunes.
Still, destiny stalked the Concert Stage.
Music pours into me from dreams. Arriving so fast
I struggle to write it down.
I play night and day on an old instrument,
gifted my way.
A wide repertoire draws my concert fans.
People cry, have visions.
Moved by the frequency of the music.
While I shiver to think that, alive or
dead, there’s only a thread between.
In the grand theatre
Opening in the Heaven,s
Drifting across the sky,
cloaked in darkness
Whistling unseen voices
Darkened within rage,
nature's forces
At work
Rising wind salute
In static
hair raising
Falling down the spine
Banging drums
Growling almighty roars
Grumbling unforeseen forces
Churning in its might,
an earth shattering clap
Applauding trees bend
Wind blowing gale
Lighting up dark
Bowing to light
In strike daylight
Unmerciful power
Battle in darkened clouds
Alight candy floss
Falling rain crystals
In sparkling diamonds
Lightning strikes
As the thunder roars
Frightening night
Rumbling drum beats
Upon nature's might
You strike
Sprinkle salt and pepper upon my distasteful flavor
It’s been a while, baby
Since I saw you smile freely
I like to say ‘yes’…I’d like to say ‘yes’
To your beautiful face…
It was never a disgrace
Graceful gifts exchange
Waiting for a change for a change
White lightning
Can be rather frightening
Mighty storms in my mind
I’ve come to unwind
It’s been a while, darlin’
Where have you been? Where have you been?
I don’t like to say ‘no’…to you, no, no
I see your face shine aglow
Shine aglow
Go with the flow
Go with the flow
Go with the flow
Graceful gifts exchange
Waiting for a change for a change
White lightning
Can be rather frightening
Mighty storms in my mind
I’ve come to unwind
Time heals all wounds
There’s nothin’ on my mind
Everyone’s actin’ like a million baboons
I see a million moons
There’s nothin’ to find
But, there’s peace to find
Graceful gifts exchange
Waiting for a change for a change
White lightning
Can be rather frightening
Mighty storms in my mind
I’ve come to unwind
Shadows…reflections…
In all directions
Gazing at the stars
Grazing in my own maze…mend not my scars
Mend not my scars
Graceful gifts exchange
Waiting for a change for a change
White lightning
Can be rather frightening
Mighty storms in my mind
I’ve come to unwind
Ridiculous colors
Blurs my vision
Everything around me blurs
Failing at my mission
To succeed…
Sick of the greed
Graceful gifts exchange
Waiting for a change for a change
White lightning
Can be rather frightening
Mighty storms in my mind
I’ve come to unwind
Graceful gifts exchange
Waiting for a change for a change
Brainwashed as a wild child
Running wild…running wild…
Sweet, sweet sorrow
Of yesterday’s tomorrow
Clothes me…so warm, you die in my arms
Your eyes close – no longer releasing charms
Chandeliers of hope
Hang like a hope rope
I mope…I hope…I cope
With pain...addicted to you as if you’re my dope
I need
I want
I feed
You haunt
It’s hard to stomach your bad news
Singin’ the blues…finding many, many clues
Sprinkle salt and pepper upon my distasteful flavor
Graceful gifts exchange
Waiting for a change for a change
Graceful gifts exchange
Waiting for a change for a change...
When skies are grey and clouds are weeping,
Lightning hurls its fiery thorn,
Reach for the stars behind the clouds,
There shines a sun beyond the storm.
Beyond the clouds the sun is reigning
In its ceaseless majesty,
Clouds will pass and then at last
The sun will be set free...
Just to shine on you, to light your darkened road,
To warm you and comfort you, and help you bear your heavy load.
When all our days are dark and lonely,
When our nights are filled with fear,
If our tomorrows cast anxiety,
Our yesterdays shed a tear,
If our hearts are cold and rainy,
When the storms are hard to bear,
Let’s look beyond today's dark clouds,
The Son is waiting there...
Just to smile on us, to light our darkened road,
To warm us and comfort us, and help us bear our heavy load.
Beyond the clouds unfolds a sunrise
That would not be half as beautiful without the clouds.
“They will see the Son of Man coming on the clouds of the sky with power and great glory” (Matthew 24:30)
Lightning in a bottle
That is my little firefly
I gotcha right out of
The summer night sky
Gently captured now
In an old glass canning jar
You twinkle, twinkle, twinkle
Just like a little star
Riled up and startled
With a tap... tap... tap
Awaken and glow again
No more time to nap
Lightning bug keep flashing
Yellow or neon green
Most fascinating thing
My eyes have ever seen
Keep dancing in circles
While I enjoy the show
Don't worry little firefly
... I will let you go
lightning, powerful
blue, quick-silvered, the lands
amber-torched, so quick

Remembering Northern California that still burns...
Sky-to-land flashes,
Bright boughs clawing through blackness,
Nude tree dives headfirst.
saber is sharpened
the lightning flames through heaven
