Basketball
It's not a sport
It's a lifestyle
No one understands
What it means to play it
Not for the money
Not for the fame
But the love for the game
Basketball
Not a sport
It's a lifestyle

In a tropical place, the climate
becomes a way of being.
Fruits and flowers on shirts and dresses,
breakfasts of bananas,
pineapple flavored passions of
afternoon, pathways to the moon on
evening seas, coconut-milk tipped waves at dawn,
palms tilting horizons and gulls gliding
the edge of time.
Yet, where I live does not define me.
Not like the Irish dairymen, who
rain or shine, milk cows they
could easily set their clocks by.
Here on this perfect stretch of sand,
I am rootless - envious
of those who have never moved.
I feel puppet-ized by modern life;
a little schizoid - liking where I am,
hearing the voices, while
a part of me pines
for pastoral beginnings.
In life…
Whether you remain as plain toast,
Or into a soldier you are cut,
Whether you are covered in marmalade,
Or dipped into yolk from an egg cup,
In life there’s one main rule, should you fall…
Stay butter side up!
Drum beats inside black bare hairy chests
Tradition hidden in treasure chests
Chess played on mother earth , sounds like home
Home grown sounds ringing throughout the neighborhood
Stomachs kneeling and praying for food
Fathers crossing boarder lines and going for good
Living life behind the calabash
Brothers behind bars
Mother's beauty behind scars
The sacred statue of mother Theresa caresses those in prisons
Prisons of the mind can never be unlocked
Smoke in the nearby village , culture is burning
Village heads lay their heads on village grief
The village thief steals at noon
And then the slave hunters
Lurking in expensive
Futures perishing like sinners in hell
Let me not breath the air that sinners inhale
I come from light
I am pain
I come from life

If this was the last

But, what if this was the last time I cried,
Don't want to be hidden behind lying scrys.
The world forgotten on their prying device,
Humanity alone algorithmic thrice.
Heaven on you shoulder beckons you home,
Mirror-sucking marrow through soulless domes.
But, what if this is the last chance to thrive,
Society nullified blue tick uprise.
Locate my strength to become whole again,
Discharge into the torrent of play-pretend.
Am I willing to wonder the outdoors,
Bleak scepticism plaguing putrid drawbacks flaws
Pick up, put down, conscious cyber remorse,
No better a junky and their driving force.
But, what if this is the last time I lie,
Unsubscribe, double-click, shut device; goodbye.
LIFESTYLE BALANCE
Apples, oranges and banana's to,
Strawberries are so delicious,
And are very good for you.
Lettuce, tomatoes, cucumber and some celery,
Make tasty salad dishes for you and me.
Potatoes, carrotts, mushrooms and peas,
A very healthy casserole,
I'll have some, "Yes, please!"
Vitamins are good for your bones, hair and skin,
It is important to eat healthily,
And also for your organs within.
A treat or two, is also fine,
Just occasionally,
Makes it taste more devine!
A walk outside is also refreshing,
Take in the beautiful nature,
Let's hear the birds sing.
LOOK AFTER YOURSELF!
Hope you have a wonderful day!

A balanced diet
Is what is planned
Which invariably
Means I understand
Something healthy
Something bland
A healthy lifestyle
Is what is planned
So a balanced diet
If I might expand
Does not involve
A pie in each hand
legs churning
lungs burning
feet heavy
heartbeat unsteady
another mile to go
toughness time to show
now or never go for the glory
thats the story
late night hours
no fear, never cowers
shifting gears
to the crowd's cheer's
given up many an indulgence
to be an athlete of influence
a mover and a shaker
never to be mistaken for a faker
lion-hearted 'till the end
rev up the engine for the last bend
goal is the finish line
lean at the tape for the time
win or lose it's all the same
what matters is how you play the game
did you give it your all
did you leave it all on the line until your fall
leave nothing to be desired
like clay to be fired
molded by sacrifice
nothing else would suffice
this is the life of an athlete
but not just any athlete, a long distance athlete
barrel chested
endorphin injected
solitary 5 am runs
missing out on time spent with chums
reflecting amongst nature
finding solace below the creator
its all worth it
a life spent being fit
making friends galore
each mile, never a bore
a tightly nit fraternity
miles and miles to eternity
its more than running
a lifestyle, ongoing
lace em' up and let it go
let your inner self glow
strength and courage radiate
never to quell or intimidate
simply to live
leaking life like a sieve
with no fear
crystalline clear
Young and beautiful
Secretive desires
With headphones plugged in
Exercise and look good
Big t**s and
bounce butt
Muscles and sixpack
Active in social media
Instagram, blogs,
youtube and spotify
The new lifestyle
Hormonal changes
A romantic relationship
- the intense emotions
Love how the music feels
like a new beginning,
every sunrise

Once there was a royal man called Peter Royle
Who professed “positive lifestyle” key for “the royal”
“Because your lifestyle
Becomes your destiny”
Bloody it’s great to be “filthy modern” than “the royal”!
Living A Lifestyle That the Bible Forbids…
I know of someone living a lifestyle that the Bible forbids.
He told me; “how dare anyone tell me how I should live!”
He added; “what I do is no one else’s business but my own.”
“No one can ever tell me what I do in my home!”
When given scripture that clearly forbids what he’s doing…
It’s the backward kind of life… That he’s choosing!
He claims Jesus is his lord, in spite of his moral depravity.
It’s like he has, in his body, an “infected cavity.”
God gave to us his word, with his holy instructions!
If we don’t obey, it’ll lead to our spiritual destruction!
It doesn’t matter if 10,000 churches say that it’s o.k. to do!
God requires a righteous and holy way of living, for me and YOU!
There are choices we all have, that are to be made!
Are you going to be victorious in Christ? Or sin’s slave???
Have you thought about living for Jesus? And what it cost?
If we’re not sacrificing our lives for him, we’re forever lost!
If you’re one who’s caught up into a life filled with perversion…
May I introduce you to the blood of Jesus? And a righteous conversion?
God gave to each of us, HIS rules and commandments to live by!
It’s either God’s rules, or man’s, that you’ll either live or die by!
Won’t you choose a life that God has chosen to give you?
He created mankind! It’s no secret how much he loves you!
The opportunity is here! It may never come again!
Won’t you let the power of Jesus break the bondage of sin?
Jesus can set you free! Won’t you let him help you?
He’s patiently waiting… Just because he wants to!

My Li(f)estyle
If Yudhisthira* can have Drona* killed with a lie,
Can I not, a small guy, follow the path I desire.
With small lies it was a quick and easy try,
out of the mess I saw myself fly.
When I got away with a bolder and bigger lie,
delighted I was, that I did not have to cry.
These lie wins gave me instant Joy.
Oh! I said ‘This is the Life of my way, that I need to enjoy’.
Later journeys in Life got me pain I did not ask for,
Marking wins I celebrated on lies with an unseen scar.
My mind is forever quick
and plays a ploy;
So, I now always ask my honest friend ‘my Heart’,
if Truth is what I am out to destroy.
‘When you lie, Truth you may cover,
making the heart holding it suffer’, he avers.
I stopped asking if Yudhisthira ever did lie,
Truth as my path is all that I Aspire.
PS: *In the Hindu epic Mahabharata, Yudhistira and Drona are some of the key characters. Yudhistira in the epic is the epitome of Truth.

Five lines, that's it, that's all I can write
My attention span has flewed the coop, taken flight
Age most likely's a factor
Think I'll become a Hollywood actor
To sustain my flamboyant lifestyle every night

you said Welcome to the Jungle
but I'm lookin' for Paradise City
you told me to ride the Nighttrain
all the way through The Garden
and say hello to Mr. Brownstone
you called me Rocket Queen
I said I think You're Crazy
now I'm wearin' Black Leather
and locked in a Civil War
with you Sweet Child O' Mine
and in this November Rain
I feel utterly Estranged
you keep tellin' me Don't Cry
but you're beatin' a Dead Horse
I truly admire your Patience
but I wanna go eat some Bad Apples
then slip into a Coma
sleep away eternity in The Garden of Eden
Dancing and drinking
Love the carefree lifestyle
A state of oblivion
