Best Kitty Poems
I can't help myself, it's what I do
I'm just so addicted to the trade
I was too dang scared to steal the dog
'Cause of all the noise he made
You can see that I'm a cat burglar
By the mask and kitty in my paws
It's not like I stole your jewlery box
So I'm really not breaking any laws
See, I was only gonna borrow him
There's no need to sound the alarm
I needed this varmint to scratch my back
I didn't mean the little fella any harm
Now wait just a minute, don't call the cops
You caught me red handed with the critter
I'll give him back, 'cause he smells like poo
So you probably need to change the kitty litter

My nana lived in a big city,
loved reading poems to her kitty.
Normally it sat on a mat.
but it was such a sneaky cat.
Waited for nana to go and cook.
Locked the kitchen door with a hook.
Kitty knew nana wouldn't look,
so sat on the chair to read her book.
Consumed with nana's poetry,
took a sip of chamomile tea,
but it was so hot that it stung,
silly kitty had burnt his tongue.
Screamed out loud with a screeching yelp,
but nana couldn't come and help,
as silly kitty had locked the door,
so rolled around helpless on the floor.
Thought the fish bowl would soothe his pain,
but his leap only came in vain.
Silly kitty forgot he couldn't swim,
but nana escaped to rescue him.
Now all he does is follow her around,
as his meow is now a squeaky sound!

Where does my kitty cat go every day?
When I'm heading to school, is he getting away?
Or forgetting he musn't let strays in to play?
Where does my kitty cat go every day?
Where does my kitty cat go when it rains?
Does he stop at the station and try to hop trains?
Does he drop by the airport to gawk at the planes?
Where does my kitty cat go when it rains?
Where does my kitty cat go after dark?
Does he meet all his friends to play ball in the park?
Do the fans in the stands tweet and bray? Growl and bark?
Where does my kitty cat go after dark?
What does my kitty cat do when I nap?
Does he borrow my clothes? Pair my shoes with my cap?
Do you think he's aware that the toes overlap?
What does my kitty cat do when I nap?
How does my kitty cat know when I'm sad?
Does it show, what a terrible day I have had?
Does he nibble my nose to say things aren't so bad?
How does my kitty cat know when I'm sad?
What will my kitty cat do when I'm old?
Will he switch on the TV before being told?
Will he sit with me too, watching stories unfold?
What will my kitty cat do when I'm old?
What will my kitty cat think I intend
if I show him I care with the time that I spend
and make sure I am there when he's needing a friend?
I know he'll think that I love him.

Cats all around
Playing with the yarn
So cute and pink
Miss Kitty Katt was famous in the small hometown of mine
And Buster was the town dog -- never knew a boundary line.
Miss Kitty knew no limits except those she had drawn
Which included one she’d posted -- “All dogs stay off this lawn.”
She made it known some time ago and everybody knew
That no dog ever was allowed – they knew what would ensue.
Buster and Tom were hangin’ out. There ain’t no doubt up to no good.
Just out there strollin’ in the hood – Looked up and there Miss Kitty stood.
Now Tom, he knew Miss Kitty -- and Buster was his friend.
And he recognized the trouble they both would soon be in.
Miss Kitty started hissing the way that mad cats do
She had been here many times before and knew just what to do.
She just made straight for Tom with fire in her eyes
Anyone who saw her knew her hate was not disguised.
Miss Kitty’s scream was piercing -- her intent, there was no doubt,
They were walking in her yard and she meant to drive them out.
Ol’ Tom he realized just what there was in store
Since he had also been here many times before.
It sure should draw some water that he was of her kind
But all ol’ Tom could think about was savin’ his behind.
Salvation soon trumped honor and Valor? --- Nowhere to be found.
Tom quickly realized he had no choice – he knelt down to the ground
Miss Kitty in her hissy fit soared right o’er ol’ Tom’s back.
And Buster stood there helpless to handle the attack.
What happened wasn’t pretty and Buster had no doubt
This crazy maddened mama cat was there to take him out.
Nothing could be said or done to change what was to be
When Buster, with a side step knocked Miss Kitty to her knees.
I suppose we’ll always wonder just what went on that day
When Buster and the Tom Katt just went out to play
The Morning News has brought up questions about this strange event
Like how Buster got his broken leg and where Miss Kitty went.
KITTY KITTY
My KITTY KITTY
Is so pretty
Prancing all around
With a string,
I tease the cat
I accidently stepped on his back
Howling the meowing sound
Now he's nowhere to be found
He's not under the house
KITTY KITTY, where can he be
Out jumped a mouse
I'm scared as scared can be
I hear hissing, coming from above the tree
I call my cat,
Kitty Kitt, come down now
I grab my cat by the tail,
scratching and fighting
He bites me off
That serves me well
For pulling on his tail
My sweet KITTY please come to me
There's a mouse under the house
The mouse frightens me
Calling for my KITTY KITTY
Suddenly I hear a loud purring
Rubbing against both my legs
I'm a happy camper,
On this day I vow
Never shall I step or pull my Kitty Kats tail
Now it's time for milk!
SKAT
Mr. Meow Our Kitty Comic
While talking to our neighbor one day
Our cat Mr. Meow rubbed up against my leg
“Oh there is Saffron.” our neighbor said
“No, No, you must be misled
That is our tabby cat, Mr. Meow”
The neighbor shook her head and raised her eyebrow
“He has lived with us for about a year
We call him Mr. Meow since meowing is what we constantly hear
He followed my husband around the yard one day
We thought he was a stray and decided to let him stay”
“No, he was born next door
With several brothers and sisters on the shed floor”
Just then mama kitty walked up to Mr. Meow and they rubbed noses
Our yards were separated by a few trees and a bed of roses
“We got all his shots at the vet”
“We did too the day after we met”
We started laughing and our neighbor said, “What a little comic mess
Saffron alias Mr. Meow, the little con can be your cat I guess”
Mr. Meow, we discovered was a comedian
My husband and I were his biggest fans
To get our attention he would do a little prance
A hunched back like a Halloween cat dance
Many a day he brought us gifts, birds and rabbits
Without success we tried to break his serial killer habits
Laughing at him was what he liked most
Of course, he could be distracted by a piece of pork roast
During his sixteen years he learned to sit on command
He seemed to realize our dog Boodro got treats if he obeyed demands
We can't help but smile as we think of him
Our beloved tabby comic who always made us grin
My Misty arrived as a cute bundle of fur
With electric blue eyes and a very loud purr
She was a birthday present especially for me
We’d snuggle up together; she’d sit on my knee
Misty’s favourite toy was a clockwork mouse
She’d chase this fluffy toy all over the house
Kit e cat chunks was her preferred choice of food
She’d gobble it up; with her white teeth she chewed
On her feet she had black pads and razor sharp claws
She was always so careful where she placed her paws!
Misty’s silver grey fur was so soft and so warm
A great protection for her when out in a storm
Over time Misty grew she’d venture out the front door
She’d chase after wild birds – pussycats birds abhor!
I recall the day Misty left a dead mouse by the door
Just a head and entrails (I’d never seen these before)
Misty just loves playing and having such fun
She adores being outdoors in the heat of the sun

Now here's a sweet little ditty
About a hungry cute kitty
She can’t get enough
Of that yummy stuff
She’s fat and she’s oh, so pretty!
This Kitty just loves a good rub
all over, but more on the nub
So pet her just right
She’ll purr day or night
Caresses...this kitty won't snub
If kitty’s not fed right away
Then pussycat’s grumpy all day
You'd better not tease
Just feed her, now please
And enjoy this kitty at play! ;)

A repost of a deleted poem.
Frozen ornaments
with fierce tears
Swallowing the lie raw
Life's fake comedy
discomfort and deterrence
Prefer the stories - grisly
He listened for them in the wood
as daylight blossomed, poised to prowl
For breakfast, breast meat sounded good
and Cat could feel his stomach growl
Soon, struck by a cacophany
of cheeps and chirps, of coos and caws,
Cat snuck up on them, tree by tree
and hushed each cluck with teeth and claws
They paid no mind, so were plucked clean
from every nook where they would sing
but had they looked, they might have seen
him right behind them and took wing!
When Cat had eaten every bird,
he retched a ball of beaks and feet,
spat out one final bone and purred,
outstretched atop the spongey peet...
Pretty kitty, I’ve been gone all day.
Did you miss me while I was away?
Come to me, sweet kitty. We can play.
Here are strings to swipe at as they sway!
Pretty kitty, come without delay.
Sit beside me in your purring way.
How I wish that you would never stray.
Always near me I’d like you to stay.

I’m here beside my window; can’t go out to play
because it is a frosty day; but that’s ok!
I’ve got my little Kitty here by me.
The sweetest companion for me is she.
I lift my hand to trace an imaginary heart.
Kitty lifts her paw as if to help me with this “art.”
Time today I have got plenty of.
And time to be with Kitty, my always love.

You sit and stare
upon your dish,
no strength to bear
even as I wish.
For you to live
forever strong
were mine to give
your life prolong.
But being neither
here nor there
Death comes hither
So be prepared.

Mighty Mercury
Alert then aloof, snuggly warm then colder
His rangy legs spring to hitch a ride on our shoulder
Lifting our hearts to elation
He’s our portable vacation
We cherish Mercury more each day we grow older
