Notes About The Poem

Nursery rhymes poetry contest by Eve Roper

Silly Kitty

My nana lived in a big city,
loved reading poems to her kitty.
Normally it sat on a mat.
but it was such a sneaky cat.
Waited for nana to go and cook.
Locked the kitchen door with a hook.
Kitty knew nana wouldn't look,
so sat on the chair to read her book.
Consumed with nana's poetry,
took a sip of chamomile tea,
but it was so hot that it stung,
silly kitty had burnt his tongue.
Screamed out loud with a screeching yelp,
but nana couldn't come and help,
as silly kitty had locked the door,
so rolled around helpless on the floor.
Thought the fish bowl would soothe his pain,
but his leap only came in vain.
Silly kitty forgot he couldn't swim,
but nana escaped to rescue him.
Now all he does is follow her around,
as his meow is now a squeaky sound!

This has taken a funny twist. The poem is amusing from start to finish. You have developed the nursery rhyme into a beautiful story. All that the silly Kitty did ended up as a fiasco. Your poem has brought a chuckle to me. Great composition.

I would meow meow to anyone who saves me when I'm drowning. Certain consequences await when we do somethings and sometimes there's no one to save us but thank God for nana. Kitty would have explained to angels what caused his death and would not get a pardon. You write so well Dear Silent. Always a pleasure reading and flowing with your spectacular piece and distinct voice. There are lots of things we forget we cannot do when we are faced with challenges or hurts. And there are lots of things we
