Nursery rhymes poetry contest by Eve Roper
My nana lived in a big city,
loved reading poems to her kitty.
Normally it sat on a mat.
but it was such a sneaky cat.
Waited for nana to go and cook.
Locked the kitchen door with a hook.
Kitty knew nana wouldn't look,
so sat on the chair to read her book.
Consumed with nana's poetry,
took a sip of chamomile tea,
but it was so hot that it stung,
silly kitty had burnt his tongue.
Screamed out loud with a screeching yelp,
but nana couldn't come and help,
as silly kitty had locked the door,
so rolled around helpless on the floor.
Thought the fish bowl would soothe his pain,
but his leap only came in vain.
Silly kitty forgot he couldn't swim,
but nana escaped to rescue him.
Now all he does is follow her around,
as his meow is now a squeaky sound!
