Best Kites Poems

Such Great Kites
In a meadow fair lived the mouse Ben,
Who fell in love with the squirrel Jen.
He wanted to marry but had not a dime,
“What could I give her that's shiny and mine?”

He thought and he thought and then he knew,
What he could give that was neither...

The kites fly high, flapping colors
As if they want to reach the clouds
In blue water, emotion stirs
Children run with glee and yell loud

Kites soar like birds on a string
Higher and higher in the sky
Fun in the park, happy to sing
There are no worries, no wonders...

Premium Member Up There, With the Kites
We met for poetry, found a lively group
occupying our space; Herculaneum
High School Reunion Committee.

They introduced themselves,
offered to move. "No," we said.
"We can use the other end of the room."

Distracted by their excited chatter,
we asked, "What year did you graduate?
1961 . . . your 50th...

Moon so high, awake and beaming in white
Soft cloud smiles, watching the moonlight dancing
Behind the furs, hiding as crystal kite
Bounds in miles, prancing with stars so pleasing.
Winds so cold, peeking on wonders of light
Stars on hold, freezing with yonders of oak
Air so bold, giggling at...

Premium Member Why Kites Fly
Fear and violence and guilty judgment
display synaptically sharp,
competing "Loser!" skittish economies.
Love and active peace sustain buoyance,
resilience,
robustly revolving away
from red skies of mourning;
cooperatively mutual Win-Win
ecology of evolution.

I want so badly to fly my competing belief kites,
and faith,
for my string to remain confidently taut,
vibrantly humming and singing...

Kites and Sunsets
Spilled paint on the clouds
Nora pulling at the strings
The kite an autumn letter
Caught upon the wind
It dips in the dusk colors
As though never to come down....

I Saw the Red Kites! (Rare Birds of Prey)
I saw the Red Kites
flying high in the sky;
What a beautiful site to behold:
As they hovered above
with the sun shining through,
revealing their red, brown and gold.

History tells
about a century ago,
these birds were almost extinct.
I swear I saw...

Kites Flight
Red kite loses flight
Bump bump bumping through the grass
She runs to recast
Kite snags on a jagged rock
Rips a hole inside girl’s heart

..... .........

There he hanged in suspended agony with screams pelting
recluse eyes terrified in the glow of afternoon melting…
pockmarked face, ears filled with stain, bones clanking.
how can i soothe his pain borne from abandonment sighing
no name, birth date, parents---thrown in orphanage dying

Warm milk with...

Fly kite
Cut hands
Rob lands
Taliban

Children’s scars
Biblical fears
Commandments near
Steal not anothers' tear

Escape the evil hands
No music, no happiness
Dance your way to the Promised Land
Leave the blood and mountains of sand

The old ones die
So that the young may fly
In a new land
Without Taliban...

I find at times that friends are just like kites
How beautiful they are when they fly high
So gracefully they soar when they're in flight
Then watch the people smile as they walk by
The sad part is we keep them on a string
We wind the string to...
