I'll be waiting here
wading through the seasons
Seems I can't recall the
reasons you aren't here with me
As I watch the trees
turn from gold, - to brown, - a leaf falls down
swirling around, catching a tear it's found
Sometimes even love
is like a leaf that's tossed in the wind...
So lost, it crumbles into a broken dream-
Days have tumbled down
I've wondered how to live without you
Winter - summer - spring, - and fall - have come again
Trees are losing leaves
Each one had a story
They have learned to say goodbye, without the sound of tears
I have watched the leaves
drifting from the trees, then fall on down
without a song, to say goodbye.... goodbye
All the while, I wait
Just searching for a sign in the wind
Beneath my feet the earth has turned to gold and red
Leaves have turned from gold
and I am growing cold, in the rain
Tears from trees fall down around my head, again
,,,,
Seasons pass on by
But l'll keep believing
Hoping that the spring might bring a second chance with you
I have watched the leaves
lifting from the trees, then falling down
without a song, to say goodbye.... goodbye
I am watching leaves
lifting from the trees
gone, without a song......... gone, without a song to say goodbye........

The stars will fade again this morning
They died a million years ago
As if to give a little warning...
you've lost your way back home
You left me here without a fire
as if desire has turned to stone
When stars come out to light the evening
they're ghosts of stars, that leave without a song
The moon, ..was drifting,.... watching for the sunrise,
while waiting for the light of dawn
While I was watching at the window.....
however, knowing ... ....you wouldn't come
While, there are dreams that last forever....
some dreams will simply fade away,
And treasured times that we remember
we must surrender in the light of day
..............interlude music.................
I've watched the sun unlatch the gate to morning
I hesitate to leave the window's ledge
Your pillow lies untouched beside the bed
The stars up in the sky... have long been dead
One star is telling me it is morning
It seems the others simply strayed
Some things we want to last forever
are illusions we have cherished, but will often fade away
will often fade away........
as if they're made to stray away.......

I called out your name, but I got no answer.
You had gone away without a word; no reason why.
I called out your name; echoes filled the cold deserted rooms
and the silence I could not bear.
Time has now gone by, yet I can not forget nor give up.
I live in hope that you will come back to me.
Always in my heart there is a place reserved just for you.
Do not let my tears flow down in vain.
I called out your name. In my mind I saw you
in a swirling mist of hazy blue, beyond my reach.
I called out your name to the wind that blew in restless nights
and I wondered where you could be.
Time has now gone by, yet I can not forget nor give up.
I live in hope that you will come back to me.
Always in my heart there is a place reserved just for you.
Do not let my tears flow down in vain.
I called out your name to the stars above me;
to the rolling sea where secrets hide among the waves.
I called out your name as I sat alone and longed for you
and the silence I could not bear.
I still call your name
as I live in hope.
Life is not the same
since you went away.
I call your name.

You’re not real deep as rivers go
You’re really not that wide
When it comes to my feelings of you
They’re feelings I just can’t hide
Through giant boulders you descend
Winding through canyon walls
Inside you many have met their end
As rapidly as your water falls
Merle Haggard wrote a song of you
You took someone he loved
His song is very beautiful and true
A gift from God above
At four I stood upon your banks
Watched my mother die
Like those before and after her
So many left to cry
Your pools are pools of death
Calm and still they seem
Whirlpools lurking underneath
The end of many dreams
For Brian's contest
Now as I hold you
Here in my memories
Lost in all the times we've shared together
Once when forever
Held dreams we treasured
Dreams, that through time we would build together
You are my one love
Hearts beat as one love
Now as i wait to feel your hand in mine and
Wait for me there love
Hold out your hand love
Alas, I'll take your hand in mine
As I lay here and life no longer holds me tight
I wait for you to come
And guide me there to where you are so we
can dance among the moon and stars, then
(Bridge)
Gently I'll kiss you
Darling I've missed you
Longing to hold you in my arms again, as
Thoughts of you fill me
Your spirit lives through me
You took my heart when you went away
Now as I hold you
Here in my memories
Lost in all the times we've shared together
I hear you whisper
Softly you call me
Yearning, to feel your arms around me
You are my one love
First and my last love
Now, as I wait to feel your hand in mine and
Wait for me there love
Hold out your hand love
A breath ... and I'll take your hand in mine
As I lay here and life no longer holds me tight
I wait for you to come
And guide me there to where you are so we
can dance among the moon and stars
(Bridge)
Now as I'm slipping
Life inside me fading
Knowing your spirit's here beside me darling
I feel your hand love
Your kiss on my lips love
At last ... you wipe my tears away .... away (softly)

To be sung to the tune of "Chance Encounter" by Kevin Kern
How can a stranger standing at the corner,
leave me breathless, in a trance... I ask you?…
What are the chances, in such a moment,
one brief encounter could change a life?
You were the sunlight, after the rain fell
leaving me defenseless. Makes no sense at all. ..
So, how to explain it? A spell, that is nameless
Nothing will ever be the same
~
How can it be? Can this be really happening?
Or is it just a dream?……
A chance encounter, that fate designed for me?....
But now, I'm floating on a cloud
~
Unlikely strangers, after the thunder,
waiting for traffic, to let us move on
Then came the static, something like magic
flashed to light the afternoon
___
There was a rainbow, on the horizon
rising against the blue, a sign to tell me
Spellbound, I'm flying, ... I'm realizing
suddenly my world is something new!
I've found tomorrow, standing at the corner,
under a stoplight, and after rain fell
There at the crosswalk, lost in crossfire…
Dare I hope you felt it too?
~
Now everyday, we cross paths at the corner, and
I've seen you come, and go …….
I'm left to wonder, do you know?
And could you feel the same way that I do?
What are the chances, someday on that corner
you'll take my hand, and know that it's forever?
With recognition, divine intervention
We'll never walk alone again….... again…………again….

Danced with
Conceived and born
Sung to and nursed
On a downy soft quilt
Transfused with
Vibrations of Ellington
Basie, Crosby, Waller
Goodman and Armstrong
Skyrocketed spiritually
By Kern and Carmichael
Porter, Gershwin and Berlin
Thanks Mom and Dad
For the beautiful music
We made together
On that bed of downy softness
As each morning goes, I shall remember you,
when life was beautiful and simply unvarnished
I shall remember you when each day unwinds,
with memories of dances among our garden's flowers
As we became lovers through twlight
I shall remember you in each season
when the sunsets change a rainbow's hue
and kisses caused time to slowly still
I shall remember you in times of laughter
when every smile was quickly caught
then woven into baskets filled with love
I shall remember you in quiet gentleness
holding every fiber of life until you left
still holding my hand
I shall remember you each time I cry in the darkness
and open my soul to let your memory breathe
as the days turn to tomorrow and yesterdays wane
As each morning goes, and each day unwinds
I'll remember you
When life was beautiful and unvarnished
when we knew only love
I'll remember you, I'll remember you

The first time I saw you I knew in my heart male voice
That I’d spend a lifetime with you.
There’s no explanation but right from the start
Seems you felt the same way too.
You fill me with hope that our love will endure, female voice
Your arm round my shoulder I feel so secure.
And the light in your eyes tells me how much you care,
You are always there.
We’ll face the storms and sunshine together, chorus in unison
As seasons change our love will be true.
For we have promised to stay side by side all the way
As we journey through life, now as man and wife.
I’ll wake every morning with you by my side male voice
And cherish forever my beautiful bride.
Though your beauty may fade, for one day we’ll grow old
Your sweet face will reflect that same heart of gold.
We’ll face the storms and sunshine together, chorus in unison
As seasons change our love will be true.
For we have promised to stay side by side all the way
As we journey through life, now as man and wife.
My heart overflows with the joy that you bring female voice
With you in my life it’s eternally spring.
And if we should be blessed with new life from above
They will grow in the presence of our love…
I promise to love you, I’ll always be here… in unison

Galaxy of stars supplies
signal event in dark skies.
Tall straight pines birthed as light poles
heavens hallow grown-up roles.
Mirrored in the brook below
current venue ceases flow.
Trees denuded of their leaves
while soon empty forest grieves.
Destined now to carry light
to a busy city's night;
poles' inaugurations move
into town when works approve.
Loudly speaks the jackhammer
amid much-needed clamor;
tearing up pathway's veneer
to create an urban sphere.
Rows of trees, now rows of poles
spaced apart so man controls.
Homesick still for forest fog
they learn to cope via smog.

A tea totaler was she, until her first glass of Kvass.
Beer, Eastern European rye, did her in to her chagrin.
A prim kickie-wickie to a gentleman of high class,
Her perfect manners quickly slipped into a woozy grin.
Brown floating eyes and disconnected speech,
Kvass began to take its mark upon her pretty face.
Telling tales of kraken and a kelt clad munch-kin race.
“Fill her glass! Tell us more.” One kern loudly beseeched.
A bright red flush rushed through her cheeks.
Her imagination brazen., continuing, she told this tale;
“The Loch Ness monster with a leprechaun," she screeched.
Riding white waves on the kraken’s neck…” (A victim of the ale.)
“Playing his pocket violin was that kyphorrhinos elf...”
Suddenly, very quiet, she mumbled something to herself.
“Cheers to all!” Their laughter roared; much to her vexation.
Folks enjoyed kvass that night and one kickie-wickie’s imagination.
I'M ALWAYS RIGHT HERE---
(iNTRO)
Going, gone going, gone you've went away, I'm now found in such dismay;
(verse 1)
I am always, I'm always, I am always right here;
I will always be right here, I will be always right here,
Just right here when you need someone dear, I'm here;
I am always, I'm always, I am always right here
I will always be just right here, just right here;
I belong by your side, and I will not ever hide, For I do love you...
(reframe)
And when your feeling so all alone, I'll be right here where I belong;
To embrace your heart, mind, body soul;
Always around, I will be found arms open standing here,
(verse 2)
I am always, I'm always, I am always right here
I will always be there, I will always be here ;
I belong by your side, and I will not hide nor will I leave you;
Right by your side I will always be there;
(reframe)
And when your feeling so sad alone, I'll be right here where I do belong;
To embrace your heart, mind, body and soul;
Always around, I will be found arms open standing here,
(verse 3)
I am always, I'm always, I am always right here
I will always be there, I will always be here;
I belong by your side, and I will not hide nor will I ever leave you;
Right by your side I will always be there;
I am always, I'm always, I am always right here

It’s the first day of school and I’m really quite nervous.
I don’t know how everyone will react to me.
I wonder what should be my first order of business.
Should I make friends right away or just let it be?
I moved here from the city where I always rode the bus,
But, here in this small town, I live only blocks from the school.
When you’re the new person like me, people tend to make a fuss,
Trying to decide whether or not you’re very cool.
My mother told me just before I left this morning
To just be myself and keep my head held up high.
She said we each have a story and none is boring.
If you always tell the truth, you’ll never have to lie.
I walk in the front door, trying to hide my fear,
Hoping noone can tell that I’m trembling inside.
The principal tells me that just because I’m new here
Doesn’t mean that it will always be a rough ride.
So, I gathered my things and hurried off to my class,
Where we all introduced ourselves politely, in turn.
Since I was the newest addition, I went last.
I stood up and told my new students, “My name is Ms. Kern.”
Your Easter Bunny was very sweet
He took good care of our friends how Neat!
Maybe he was inspired by your songs
Hopefully we'll all get to sing along
Until then dear Friend, we're pulling for you
And hope your music are hits too
Until then Peter Cotton Tail
If your publisher works for me
I'll buy you a Moped to help save your feet.
Hoppy Easter from me to you
And Steve Kern, that goes for you too
You're IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
