Pastel Reflections

I'll be waiting here
wading through the seasons
Seems I can't recall the
reasons you aren't here with me

As I watch the trees
turn from gold, - to brown, - a leaf falls down
swirling around, catching a tear it's found

Sometimes even love
is like a leaf that's tossed in the wind...
So lost, it crumbles into a broken dream-

Days have tumbled down
I've wondered how to live without you
Winter - summer - spring, - and fall - have come again

Trees are losing leaves
Each one had a story
They have learned to say goodbye, without the sound of tears

I have watched the leaves
drifting from the trees, then fall on down
without a song, to say goodbye.... goodbye

All the while, I wait
Just searching for a sign in the wind
Beneath my feet the earth has turned to gold and red

Leaves have turned from gold
and I am growing cold, in the rain
Tears from trees fall down around my head, again

,,,,

Seasons pass on by
But l'll keep believing
Hoping that the spring might bring a second chance with you

I have watched the leaves
lifting from the trees, then falling down
without a song, to say goodbye.... goodbye

I am watching leaves
lifting from the trees
gone, without a song......... gone, without a song to say goodbye........

Pure perfection, Carrie! Worthy as can be of the first place. Flows as effortlessly I say as the leaves falling. Listened to the music while reading and had absolutely no trouble following. Well done.

congratulations on your lovely poem and win. I truly enjoyed. I am slowly coming back to being able to type a few lines and to read and comment. I had my concussion in March and my broken arm on Easter and have been out of commission all spring and summer. I will never catch up. Love, Joyce

Simply beautiful, Carrie! I really enjoyed singing this (in my admittedly a bit off-key voice) while playing the melody too! Congrats on your top win! hugs!

Congratulations on your win, a beautiful poem, I found this one to be difficult with the melody having a pause then a few more notes you seemed to have solved it..well done

Thanks so much, Frederic.....yes, these songs are tricky to write for, I have listened over and over to the music, and find it so beautiful and sad! I do enjoy this kind of challenge. Thank you for all your kindness on many of my poems. I never take your thoughtfulness for granted ! :)
