Best It Took My Breath Away Poems
I heard a bird singing
As I was on my way
It led direction for me
As it took my breath away
It warbled cheerfully,
From a tree above the snow
It spread its song gleefully,
What kind of bird, I wanted to know
I heard a bird singing
Its melody surrounded me
I turned in circles bringing,
Each note closer, to be free
It sounded like spring, in winter
A happy, fresh new start
Helping to release the splinter
And heal the pain within my heart

I almost called you several times
I know it's been a while
I had the phone right in my hand
but never got to dial
Something kept distracting me
every time I tried
Babies crying, P.T.A.,
my son needing a ride
Two weeks ago I planned to call
but many things came up
School recitals, soccer games,
we got a brand new pup
It's always nice to talk to you
I know it's been a while
Every time we chat my friend
you always make me smile
I'm sorry when you called last week
I couldn't talk with you
I'm sure my son explained that I
had many things to do
Finally when I got the chance
just the other day
The stranger's voice that spoke to me
it took my breath away
I've always loved to talk with you
I know it's been a while
It's really very easy to
pick up the phone and dial
Oh, how I'd love to talk with you
for you, some time I'd save
But it's too late and here I am
weeping at your grave
Mama always told me
girl you must be wise
the Devil's out there somewhere
and he's wearing a disguise
he will try to trick you
with his evil ways
and he will make a fool of you
with the games he plays.
Listen to me baby
he could be headed your way.
I tried to heed her warning
was good as I could be
keeping all those eager men
so far away from me
then I met a stranger
who had a gentle way
and when he took me by the hand
I heard my mama say
you better watch your step now
don't let him lead you astray.
He was so very charming
and I was so unwise
he had such a handsome face
and oh such pretty eyes
his laughter was appealing
so were the words he said
and when he looked deep in my eyes
I really lost my head.
Please forgive me Mama
I should be heeding what you said.
His love was sweet and tender
it took my breath away
he held me through the cold dark nights
and loved me through the day
he told me that he needed me
so I gave him my heart
that's when he sent it straight to Hell
and tore it all apart.
I tried to listen Mama
but he had me from the start.
The Devil's out there somewhere
so girl's I must advise
beware of handsome strangers
they may have Devil eyes
he'll tempt you with his laughter
and with the things he'll say
don't look too deep into those eyes
'cause you will rue the day.
Listen to me ladies
he could be headed your way.
A beautiful rainbow was painted in the sky
Arrayed with many colors, so I stopped and I stared
At the rainbow
The rainbow in the sky
And I thought of You
And the amazing things You do
And I smiled
I felt real good inside
I know how beautiful You truly are
So I praised You with all my heart
As I looked at the rainbow
The rainbow in the sky
The one You sent to us today
It took my breath away
What a sight
A sight it was
The rainbow
The beautiful rainbow in the sky
I think about you everyday
I plan out what to say
You have no idea, you have no clue
Just how much I think about you
I try not to stare, I try not to hide
These emotions that are clawing at my insides
I want to tell you how I feel
But the voices inside makes me hush
So I keep it down inside my heart
Hoping that nothing falls apart
Wherever you go, my heart will follow
I hope my heart will never be broken
All because of my love unspoken
It's just so hard to ignore you
Just so hard to not look at you
I don't know what it is about you
That makes me feel the way I do
No matter what they say
I can't think of you that way
But it's hard to say "Hey"
Or just smile and simply wave
I don't know why I feel this way
and when you smiled today
Oh how it took my breath away.

It took my breath away
When I saw you
And since then all my thoughts
Have been about you
It took my breath away
When you first smiled at me
And since then all my smiles
Have been for you
It took my breath away
When you told me that you love me
And since then my heart has been
Full of love for you
It took my breath away
When I realized I wasn’t your first priority
And since then I tried my best
To mean more to you
It took my breath away
When my attempts at getting closer led to fights
And since then I’ve doubted every action of mine
And every word; good or bad
It took my breath away
When you said you didn’t want me in your life
And since, every waking second
I’ve missed you
It took my breath away
When I said my final goodbye
And since then my heart has broken into a million pieces
And every piece of it I’ve dedicated to you
Paris is so beautiful, that it’s emotional,
like the red tile roofs of Rome,
or the Kenroku-en gardens of Japan.
It’s a relatively large world.
Whenever you can fly over an ocean
you feel limitless, and godly,
like the world is there for you, on demand.
Speaking of God-like views, I’m headed
to Lisa’s (parents) Manhattan highrise again
this year for Thanksgiving—six, very-long days
from today—and I have to wait—but I can’t wait.
I’m starting to stuff things into my bag, like a turkey.
There are so many holiday things to do in Manhattan.
Things that invariably whip you up for a sparkly Christmas.
But these are only commercial attractions—planned distractions.
One frosty November-break morning, two years ago,
a tide of clouds had rolled in, like a trillion tons of cotton
candy had been dumped on New York city, overnight,
filling it up to the 42nd floor. It glistened there, below us,
in the klieg-bright sun, like Tiffany diamonds on cotton.
So, imagine that, then add a flock of geese, in military-like
v-formation flying just at the crest of the glitter, like dolphins
hopping in and out of the waves, as they passed above the
insignificant works of man. It took my breath away.
So, naturally I grabbed for my fancy phone with its super-duper,
high-res camera. The snaps did the glorious scene poor justice—
the majestic, wild geese came out as dots on glare.
I’m watching things carefully this year, not just the multicolor, cachet,
window displays on Fifth Avenue and the decorations at the Chelsea
Market (where Oreos were invented). I’m going to capture this year
—every intense, emotional second—with that most unreliable, 3D
gadget of all—Memory.

Every joyful Christmases of distant past
were all very special and memorable.
Except for one unique Christmas unsurpassed.
I recall it was an unforgettable
day, with presents under the lit Christmas tree.
My parents and I gathered at Christmas morn,
I dropped to my knees. I found, I was torn, gee!
So many gifts which to open first. I was torn.
I looked about the room, there against the wall
stood a very large clumsy wrapped Christmas gift.
I asked, "Can I open that one first of all?"
I pushed all the other gifts out of my way
to get to the one large clumsy wrapped ultimate gift.
I unwrapped with quick fingers, the welcoming gift.
I tore at the string and wrapping. Then, ecstatic
screams of joy, tears, and wails it took my breath away.
There was the Schwinn bike I saw in “The Attic”
store window that my heart simply craved and yearned.
My parents looked at me with pride and joy and said,
“Merry Christmas!" My heart gleefully turned.
My eyes were fixed upon the bike with a smile;
it was the most magical moment of any Christmas.
It was a bright red, with shiny chrome fenders,
and tassel hanging down the ends of the handle bars.
I rode all day.
They were all special and memorable memories,
except for one unique Christmas.

I stole away in the vast moonlight
To the whispers of the darkened night
The glow was so beguiling it took my breath away
Comforted by its loveliness it beckoned me to stay
I felt such happiness in that hour - so blessed
Of joy and hope and bliss, my heart accepted rest
I stood proud and tall in the calm, peaceful light
My soul, my spirit free- I soared in lovely flight
I came back home to lay my weary head
In my darkened room I laid upon my bed
Just outside my window...
I saw the moon smiling in the sky
It took me a moment to realize...
Just how good it felt to fly
ENGLISH HUMOR
To read This I have translated the words in brackets.!
PETROL (GAS)
I needed to buy Petrol (Gas) today
The price of it took my breath away
A holiday this year I’ll not take
Can’t afford it for goodness sake.
A pound (2 dollars) a litre today
There’s nothing we can do BUT PAY
I need to buy a whistle and toot
That in English slang means suit.
I guess now that will have to wait
As the money to spend I hesitate
It can wait till another day
I didn’t need a new whistle and toot anyway
I don’t really mean to complain
Besides if I did what would I gain
I keep telling people prices will go down
But they just look at me and frown
I had nothing to do tonight
So I thought this silly thing I’d write
After you this silly poem written by me
PLEASE don’t to harsh a CRITIC be.

There I was sitting, waiting for my name to be called
And next to me stood a little boy, so I glanced over at him
And to my utter surprise He displayed the most beautiful smile
It took my breath away, the smile he offered me
One I absolutely couldn't resist, so I smiled back
And there we were, smiling at each other
He was too young to know he was a blessing in disguise
A blessing sent by God, to bless one of His own, with a beautiful smile
A simple gesture, but one I'll always treasure
The smile of a little boy
A smile that reached his eyes and my heart
A smile that could melt the hardest heart
A smile worth a million bucks
He offered freely, every time I glanced his way
A big bright smile he offered me
It lit up the room and my spirit
It wasn’t a mere smile
It was medicine and I took a huge dose
It was what my Master ordered, in the form of a little boy's smile
It was love, God's sweet love, offered in a smile and I smiled back
I even laughed because I recognized Love and Love, He offered me a smile and I smiled right back
I sat in the right seat that day
I have listened and watched this concert;
It took my breath away.
Pavarrotti was quite magnificent,
Sensational some would say.
Mama was an instant hit,
Sang with passion and with pride.
Il Traviatti was supremo
and came from deep inside.
He sang so many famous works,
He had us all in tears:
O Sole Mio and Nessun Dorma,
Will live with us for years.
He was given many curtain calls,
They acknowledged what he'd done;
giving accolades of praise
to opera's greatest son!
Deep in meditation, I waited.
Breathing slow, soft and deep; I waited.
Then exploded on the inner screen
Such an image of the Divine Matrix
It took my breath away.
There sat I, alone, yoga posed and silent
And from my glowing body spanned
A multitude of galaxies, their cosmic webs and strands
Of multiplicit energies, reaching away and beyond
Connecting with lifeforms unimagined, far-flung and incomprehensible.
Each pulsing thread bearing high voltage messages
And deepening awareness of connections within,
As above, so below.
Entangled.
Suddenly I knew I could generate change,
Be a force for good, love and plenty
Because my threads of life, awareness, love and God Force
Reached out across the universes.
Entangled.
As I am here, I am there, I am everywhere Present.
The threads of the Matrix weave the web of eternity,
forward and back, all the tomorrows, abundance or lack.
And so, revived, encouraged and super-conscious
I now can use the threads of the Matrix
To create, transform, transmute and rediscover
All the marvelous pieces of my shattered, scattered selves
into the golden threads of the Matrix.
Reborn, Renewed.
Entangled.

Unwrapping the package with quick fingers,

When I heard the sound of silence
It took my breath away
For I didn’t see it coming,
But wanted it to stay.
It enveloped all my senses
And kept the world at bay;
The world that somehow bested me,
The world that did betray.
It blocked out my uncertainties
And would not let them prey
On all the remnants of my hurt
That time could not allay.
