The Sound of Silence

When I heard the sound of silence
It took my breath away
For I didn’t see it coming,
But wanted it to stay.

It enveloped all my senses
And kept the world at bay;
The world that somehow bested me,
The world that did betray.

It blocked out my uncertainties
And would not let them prey
On all the remnants of my hurt
That time could not allay.

Thank you. The world is indeed far too noisy sometimes.
