The Fortress of Love

THE FORTRESS OF LOVE

Every marriage has its bumps in the road
And they can pop up at any time.
We must learn to navigate them safely
With fairness, faith and open mind.

No matter how far in your marriage you’ve gone
The highway of love has its rules.
The excitement of sex, trust and affection
Never tolerates self-serving fools.

They say marriages are made in heaven,
But so are tornadoes, lighting and thunder.
Cold hearts and hot heads never solve anything
They just destroy what we love by blunder.

 Boredom, frustration, irritations and anger
Douse the spark between you and your mate.
More of the same fails to feed love’s flame
Till you wake up to find it’s too late

Human touch sustains the release of endorphins
For both the giver and receiver.
Never be afraid to hug your partner.
For the language of touch is a reliever.

Always remember to support your spouse
When times of dilemma arise.
The fortress of love will sustain your marriage
If you speak less and listen more, you’re wise.

There’s a Girl I Knew

There was a pretty young thing,
from just outside of New Orleans,
that worshipped the ground that he walked on.

She was an innocent girl,
not understanding how the world,
could be so full of hate and frustration.

Was her husband’s love and joy,
and her blue-eyed baby boy,
were what gave her all that she needed.

So when he brought home his lies,
and then convinced her to try,
the warning signs were never heeded.

At first it was only beer,
until it soon became clear,
that she had to have something stronger.

Used to be work and straight home,
but then she started to roam,
out for just a few hours longer.

Looking for the kind of men,
who would give her joy again,
nothing now was too hard to swallow.

She found that alcohol made her feel alive,
the pills could keep her running high,
without them she only felt empty and hallow.

Now it’s Jack Daniels to go,
a couple lines up her nose,
to just relieve the day’s irritations.

So when her husband moved on,
and they took away her son,
left her filled with grief and rejection.

Now there’s little more than bones,
when she stands there all alone,
watching fear reflect in the mirror.

She is lost and neglected,
with a mind that’s infected,
there’s no escaping from her terror.

She was a pretty young thing,
from just outside of Reed’s Spring,
that worshipped the ground that he walked on.

His love led her down a road,
that no one should ever go,
and everything she was, is now gone.

Premium Member Yearning For Frost Flowers

I yearn for when my troubles were as frost flowers; when the intermittent wresting
of my inner strings was natural , a part of growing up, and when, from tender stem ,
there emerged feelings of confliction that whirled into a strange collage-puberty's
design. But whether my ordeals then were unique, like the latticework of
snowflakes, or as simple as a raindrop on my pane, each one, wing footed,
eventually melted from my mind.

Later came the common plagues: marital discord, effects of growing old and other
irritations, weeds I plucked and dandelion fluff I blew away. These I could abide.
But other winters passing now have brought trials which are as a thorny web.
In unexpected times of drought, from seemingly nowhere. . . they sprout. Star
Thistles (over which I've no control) come time and time again to prick my soul.
Unlike the fleeting flowers of frondescent youth (whose memory retains for me some
beauty), these thistles of infliction are both ugly and unyielding. Surrounding me are
melancholy notes, and though the melody is rallentando, I think this dirge may
never have an end.

Premium Member When You Love Someone

When you love someone.

When you love someone, they possess your whole mind
they're in control of your entire body, soul and time.

When you love someone, their absence is cruel torture
dark shadows of solitude follow their brisk departure.

When you love someone, your darkness turns to light
their moonlight brightens even your blackest night.

When you love someone, you love their imperfections
idiosyncrasies, irritations melt under love's reflection.

When you love someone, it's complete and forever
time seems to stand still, whenever you're together.

When you love someone, you always put them first
living altruistically, allowing love's illusion to burst.

When you love someone, their smile mesmerizes
                          supplanting desperation with hopeful surprises.

When you love someone, your whole life changes
disillusion cedes to hope, your mind, it rearranges.

When you love someone, you feel totally complete
desires satiated with pleasurable emotions replete.

Against the Odds

There is a girl
In a world
Far away from here
Where no fear
Can ever be conceled.
Her irritations are followed by
cathartic absolution
And even on the most stormy of
nights,
She glistens in the invisible,
Shinning light.
Her heart;
Can see no wrong
Her eyes;
Brighter then the sun upon dawn
She is what they all strive to be
Perfectly catalized.
In the depth of the sea,
They chide and chastize
Every move she makes,
However she will never break
And time after every melancholy
time
She astonishes even the
unsurprised.
Her charismatic way,
Brings even the doomed back to
life.
Against the odds,
she's shinning
Even in the dark
While shes crying
You cant miss her spark
Like superwoman
No one can hurt her now
She shines
Returning hope back to this desolite
town.

A Howling Inferno

Such a jumble of chaotic discord
Easily jangled by the irritations of living
Where there is a lull in the wailing sirens
Life can only be torture and torment
An abysmal betrayal
A howling inferno
But life is a fire in which each burns
To erase all the derisions and humiliation
In a world full of ailments and faults...

Sonnet 15

As technology has progressed , bound leaps ,
within the nanny state , Man simply sleeps .
Replaced Automatic ; Manual Labour.
Solved by Machine mind's , Binary No more .
For synthetic constructs for your whim , creeps
pumping cheese-its into bulging wheeze heaps.

So keep That lard thru blood , spotless , can ignore
such irritations as ; Clearing the floor .

While Digital duty serves ; watch those beeps
streaming 24/7 fiction keeps
sake in sight , forms pixel ; away those flaws
by Avatar's dream , away life's true claws.

While around , leashed , the world quietly leaps ,
Attended by metal hands ; Left
	Man Sleeps....

Premium Member Nothing Is Something

Nothing Is Something

There are so many trivialities to throw you
Things that matter, but don’t
Irritations that pass in the night
Important in an instant, dead in daylight.

Nothing is permanent, I preach to the converted
Everything passes, but stays
All problems cease when the final arrives
One thing for certain, no one survives

Gaze at your loved ones, who you’re lucky to have
And don’t count your chickens
All things are nothing and nothing lasts
It’s an effort to strive when you can’t smash the glass

Please look in the mirror, tell him he’s great
Only you know what’s deep within
Belief in yourself is the hardest belief
Perhaps a failed moment, brings a sigh of relief

Days of Despair Helped By Heroes

There's a hero in us all
Helping others when they fall
Picking them up off the ground
Love and care will soon surround
People who need kindness now
It is pure magic just how
One small act of passion
Takes away the pain to lessen
The burdens on others who
Feel down and very blue
Taking time to spread good cheer
In a world of pure despair
Will soon start a long reaction
To erase even a fraction
Of the sorrow we all feel
When its all too very real
All the woes making us weary
Can become a little scary
Wishing for a special idol
To wipe them out for a while
Saints with hearts full of concern
To alleviate and burn
The anguish and anxiety
Strains are let go and set free
Encouragement and tenderness
Will remedy any mess
A superstar to relinquish
Catastrophes and abolish
Irritations to restore
Bliss in a troubled life once more

Panicking the Pandemic

Deciphered deceptions that the summer brings,
As the cathedrals crumble for the corona Kings…
Units ubiquitous unleashed with sweeping strings,
Infectious isolation internal as the contagious clings…

The wounded wander amongst the Hellion hordes,
Where the good battle evil with spiritual swords…
Incurable innocence isolated within their wards,
Inoculable irritations brought by the overlords…

Pestiferous pestilence penetrates through the veil,
Miasmatic megalomaniacs marauding their fail…
Incoherent illusions of their toxicant slaving scale,
For the mephitic wars will end and Love shall prevail.

Mama's Diary, Part Ii

Disappointed that most of the things
she kept contained
on a daily basis
were far too banal to entertain
memories of sad things
over the years
ho-hum anxieties, insipid fears
rather mundane
and not even interesting
unlikely worries
like being kidnapped by pirates
or eaten by a polar bear-
but worries like her favorite dress
being ruined by the cleaners
and not having anything decent to wear
or getting a bad permanent in her hair

Disgusted by the
blandness
of my Mama's secret life
I flipped and skipped ahead
to after she and Papa wed
but it was no better
just drab descriptions
of her experience as a housewife
and lists of petty irritations
things he did that annoyed her
but she hollered those out
in screams and shouts
so even those were no great surprise
'cause it didn't take much
to 'get a rise' out of my Mama...

Eventually I learned
that people will answer
those questions every day
in the way they live their life
in the things they say
for there's a pattern to everything
and ultimately we each reveal
all we try to conceal
whether in our work or in our play
...and my Mama spoke volumes
in her diary
in all the things she
didn't say

Premium Member Odyssey a Structured Prose -Verse-Recited

Little children become loving
people in the odyssey of life.
Innocence exchanged for
ecstasy in love,marriage,
relationships ups&downs
..and strife.Pebbles in the
shoes,an eyelash in the eye
minor irritations ,parables &
trials to make us sigh if we've
confessed & met our maker
before we die.

Ugly

Burning wide black shaded eyes
squint,steal a blurred glimpse
and shut as stinging tears
mixed with facial muck smear

Gazing in the bathroom mirror
my eyes teared honey lime until my vision became clearer
and the world became visable
sacred nightly ritual's
side effects of cheap sweet generic mess

Late night I gently applied honey lime
into fines lines , obvious signs of progressive aging
my taste in cheap facial care's always changing

The past proved new
generic solution unremoved
stick like crazy glue

There're awful goup imitations
causing severe skin irritations
they stricken faces with moles,
rashes and skin blotch discolorations
that clash with social circles
some are inexpensively hurtful

I tried to remove the sooth skin peel
sticky as glue as it congealed
my bleeding skin healed slow
and now blond peach fuzz grows
over healing scrapes,scratches,bruises,rashes
sores and blemishes it seems its side effects are endless

Heavy mascara and fake sunshine smiles
are the safest fashion style

Cartooning has been my go-to-hobby since I was four or five.
For years when I have to sit, I am drawing.
In a car, as I waited for children, or a husband, I would draw.
My go-to-subject is faces.
Usually women’s.
My men look effeminate.
Because they are really women
With man hair.
I always begin with their eyes.

Faculty meeting? No problem. I can concentrate better if my pen is moving.
My co-workers have learned to ignore my ability to giggle at the speaker’s jokes
As I never look up or express any additional proof of listening.
My principal smiles, as she stands behind me, watching my fluent pen
Doing its dance. She knows I am hearing every word.

While drawing I am in another world, not caring a bit
About the irritations or annoyances of the day.
My imagination is giving me relief from common ordinary things.

I can cartoon page after page, turning them furiously
As my mind picks up momentum.
My pen is on a mighty roar now.
I always start with the eyes.

HARD TO TAKE

He was sure that for most
of his life he’d been a dangerous
prescription, wrapped in caveats
and warnings such as:
don’t mix, ask your doctor, must
be twelve years or older, take
with whole milk or food or risk slow
painful death……
For way too many years he was sure
that his forehead projected disclosures
and chilling disclaimers:
not covered by insurance, might make
you dizzy, don’t drive after taking or
operate machines, use only for seven
days but not if sunny, cold or wet…...
His good second wife misunderstood this
advice, had reached out to this man, actually
sought his awkward presence, and with a
joyful dyslexia misread the information that
had saved others so much grief
She began to take him each day, then
every hour day and night with lots of
veggies and tea and with reckless
disregard for those annoying side effects
and those dangerous irritations such as
laughter, love and trust; she found a
prescription that works – a testosterone
therapy that might upset her stomach
but almost always warms her heart!
