Best Installing Poems
A few years ago I was installing carpet in someone's house and a little girl approached me and started asking me questions. A few minutes went by and she had told me that she had a hermit crab that had just died the night before. She had Hermit for 3-1/2 years and she was truly saddened by his death. So on my lunch break I wrote her this poem to cheer her up. Half way through she and her mother started bawling. Thank goodness by the time I was finished they both had smiles. I received two big hugs that day and one great feeling!
I met a girl named Emily
She was prettier than gold
She had a little hermit crab
That was almost four years old
He came out of his shell one day
And he said, "It's time to go
I'm going up to heaven now
And I thought that you should know
I wanted to tell you, Emily
Because I know how much you care
So, when you go to bed tonight
Please say a little prayer"
Factory Recall
I looked beyond The Open Door
into a mystical Soul Factory
There amidst the unboxed souls
was Invisible Jim and The Ghost.
The ghost’s skin was reflective like a mirror
allowing me to see The Lines on my Face.
The factory was an unusual place
with floors carpeted in Dandelions
At each station angels sang a Star Baby Lullaby
I asked one “What are you doing?”
She smiled and responded
“I am installing a Patriotic Pause.”
An overhead speaker blared
“It is time for Designated Rain,”
I was careful to protect
the Butterfly in My Pocket.
Workers started moving
so I asked “Where are you going?”
“We are Stepping into The Temple.”
“May I ask Why?” “Sure, we are Searching For Jesus.”
So I followed the Girl With The Quiet Voice.
I was unsure How To Feel,
so I began by Lending Both Hands.
It helped in Finding My Way..
I was then joined by The Borrower.
He Was the one Who I Am
but Some Time we’re not Close Enough to Know.
Perhaps I need some Kimo Therapy
I was directed to Rose in The Garden.
Her roots had Deep Inclinations.
Would I Abandon all for This Dark Lover?
She set me on my Memory Go Round.
That place of Painted Ladies and Weeping
There I searched for Guys Advice in a Fools Paradise
Inside of me A Sense of Emptiness,
still she would become my Favourite Mistake.
She Touched The Water and my soul
becoming My Ocean.
Still I have Unanswered Questions
Some might say a Bad Bargain Made.
At the Soul Factory I left behind
my Church Perfect Surface.
In my Minds Eye the Screen Flickers.
Change Ain’t Easy but now I’m Different.
The breeze Whispered Your Name.
While I was looking for Psychedelic Sound!
No I know why I Can’t Get High Enough.
Instead let me rest in a the place of Chaotic peaceful Thoughts.
There I can sit under the Wisdom Tree
and listen to The Quiet One.
That garden where angels do the Butterfly Dance.
I long to languish there in Rainbow Coloured Camouflage.
By Richard Lamoureux
I wrote this one for Charlie’s contest using my titles from past poems. I didn’t read the directions properly so wrote another one that I entered.
So let me get this straight
(if I can use that word
in a totally non-offensive way)
Jack and Jill now get bottled water
Delivered.
Little Bo Peep
Keeps her sheep on leash
And cleans up after them.
The Three Billy Goats Gruff
And the troll
Play Bridge
The Ugly Duckling
Can no longer identify
As a Swan
Hansel and Gretel
Take the “witch”
To the spa
For a steam and sauna
Little Miss Muffet
Moved her tuffet
To a “spider free” zone
The “Big Bad Wolf”
Is now with “IT”
Trouble shooting
Grandma’s laptop
After installing 5G
Internet access
For the Three Little Pigs.
And the Three bears
Take Goldilocks
To IKEA.

A new life it seems
Has come my way
In the mountains
And plains of Wy-o-ming
I look out of my window
And Antelope play
Go out to the kids place
Where the buffalo stay
The rain has been plenty
And the winds not still
If you call blowing
A 500 lb ol’ lady down a hill
I exaggerated a bit
But how would you know
You ain’t ever seed me
So I’ll just let it go.
From a big house
With no spare room
I now live in a trailer
Just a little bit closer to all of my treasures
I’m trying to fit in and believe me
I say it with a grin
I’ll just give you an example
My friends
At the Arena Football Game the other night
My son-in-law got bored
He took out his great big knife
While I watched them make a next score
Next thing I knew folks
Folks were falling off of their seats
And when I turned around
The same thought hit me
He had cut if the bottoms off of two plastic beer bottles
And was holding them up to his eyes like a pair of goggles
And just about then
All around started to sing
Billy’s got his beer goggles on
Only his name is Fred but what the heck
You see him ‘n me gits ‘long great
Our only goal in life
Is to see which of us
Can out do the other
I went garage saleing
With them the next day
And I bought two air conditioners
Per se
And when we arrived
Back at my place
We stuffed one in my pickup
And the other in his truck
Remember I told you
My house is quite small
It’s almost impossible
To walk in the door at all
It was late
And the wind and rain
Made installing them
Something for another day
I guess things can’t be too bad between us
Cause I gave him permission to use my lawn tractor
But dog gone sometimes he can be to nice
Making me feel like he’s my baby sitter
But the day he hollered, “Do you want your coke ‘n cane”
Shirlee hollered back, “Fred, don’t use those two words so close together
The neighbors might hear
And get the wrong impression”
So as the sun in the west
Shines in my eyes
I’ll close for now
And wish you all a good night

Here’s a story of a nation called Freedonia
It has a neighboring country known as Sylvania
Freedonia’s richest woman is Mrs. Teasdale.
The country is bankrupt, and without her help will fail.
New government has been in place, but to no avail.
She then calls for the president’s prompt resignation.
This rich woman wants someone else in this position.
She insists on installing Rufus T. Firefly
Mrs. Teasdale sees in this man someone to rely
on in Freedonia’s awful moment of despair.
However, Firefly makes things worse off everywhere.
While Mrs. Teasdale is being wooed by Firefly,
Ambassador Trentino also gives her a try.
He hopes that his country can control Freedonia
if he marries her, and takes her back to Sylvania.
This Trentino plants a spy known as Chicolini
He is followed by a silent spy who’s called Pinky.
Together, they try to get vital information
on Firefly, and his inept administration.
What happens next is a funny abomination.
Before you know it, there is war between each nation.
So how do the Freedonians secure a victory?
All I have to say is: "Just watch the movie".
Based on the Marx Brothers 1933 movie "Duck Soup"
Once the dream was to make America the shining light of the world
a caring and compassionate country with opportunities for all
but after questioning the veracity of the election in America by the sham pretender since then this nation has endured the corrupt, the ugly, the distrusted who have put a damp on long held dreams of millions.
A neophyte failed businessman/politician with a narcissistic bent
of a five year old, looking for a king's crown, his fatuous transmutation has proven to be the culprit blocking his own way but denial is months away but
this dream may be reality in the making.
We who understand the damage done know are the ones
who must remove the stench he has created and the pain he inflicted
while hell bent trying to annihilate our Democratic Republic and his intent on
changing justice in America to save himself.
American's Constitution and the Bill of Rights are the hope of the world
but this administration peddles lies for control but honesty chokes them,
integrity strangles their foundations and freedoms they profess to value.
Their insidious mindset will not prevail and definitely will be challenged.
We are being devoured by manipulative small minds; their indifference,
bigotry and the all-mighty, all-consuming, deceptive profits seems to be what we are becoming. I can't believe we have been overcome with greed
and what it represents, but are we really, at heart, really that?
Will Democracy, Truth, Justice continue to be our guide, our conscience?
Will American integrity survive the current onslaught of verbal inanities?
America was great before this charlatan came unto the scene
misleading his followers and instilling his divisive absurdities.
America was great long before this pretender stepped on these shores.
It will continue to be great even greater, but these last few years he has fed lies of con to his followers derailing that trajectory of greatness
yet there are those who will follow this false Messiah's words of hatred.
White supremacists, bigots, genocidal maniacs with the mistaken idea
that this country is for them to take have a shocker awaiting them,
America will never be ruled solely by punk-pink-orange colored wannabe's
hellbent on destroying indigenous peoples of our world and our country.

The twentieth is coming soon
Reserved inauguration day
Undeserving is the one
Most democrats still say
President, he will become then anyway
The people's vote has spoken
He's there for swearing in
Entering the top spot with a win
Postulating possibilities
Resigned to make the deal
Everyone will watch him
Show what made his appeal
Installing walls on borders
Delivering for the vet
Engaging with his tweeting
None have fired him as yet
Touting jobs for all the citizens, you bet!
Absence as I hear them calling
Broken as I feel them falling
Cardiac as it's stalling
Darkness has me crawling
Endeavoring to its installing
Fevered by enthralling
Giving into it appalling
Heartfelt gifts sprawling
Individual love is worth mauling
Jointly our worth is stalling
Kissing my lips, befalling
Loving her, a load I'm hauling
Missing us forever recalling
No joy in finding the end
Openness only serves to offend
Patience is just pretend
Quietly wanting more than a friend
Reliving does not allow us to transcend
Seeking solutions, don't bend
Time there's none left to extend
Unbelievably easy to condescend
Viciousness has no way to amend
Wanting left no desire to attend
Xenomorphic this relationships bookend
You had every chance girlfriend
Zero desire is left to be penned

There
There I stand in the bakery before the huge steel metal machine, 100 yards long and silver. A cake machine worth a mint. All sorts of ingredients thrown together to make cakes, quite a mix! You’d need to see it for yourself to understand what goes on. Not a case of add this and that to make a cake, oh no. Recipes and correct steps to take.
Think of the engineering that made this huge machine. Tens of thousands of components, some penny size, others as big as a car. People with brains made this bit of kit. Moving it and installing it must have been a job! How many trucks trucked it here?
Then there are ovens as old as the factory, still burning gas and cooking cakes. The grand children of the engineers will be alive now. Same as the first bakery workers. Who sees it that way, just me? I ponder the other things around me. The list goes on: cake mixers, air conditioning, factory floor plan, production lines where many people work. The end result is cakes. Lots of them!
Cakes that are designed, produced, marketed, distributed and eaten. A whole industry within an industry, all related. From designers and engineers making the machines, people producing cakes and customers eating them, it’s a world all by itself. As complicated as an aeroplane factory or car plant or rock quarry. A dizzying array of thought and actions brought this bakery into existence.
Think about that when you eat your Colin the Caterpillar cake.
Remarkable mother devoted wife
Forty seven years with her partner in life
Before he passed, rarely apart
He was her rock, she his heart
Unprepared to live alone at age sixty eight
But that didn’t stop her from buying a new gate
Painting the walls of the house in every room
Pulling up old tile, remodeling the bathroom
Installing French doors, taking out the trash
Clearing out the yard, removing dead grass
Repairing the interior liner of the pool at dawn
Tending the garden, mowing the lawn
Unusually brilliant gourmet chef
Her cooking skills are above the best
Hell’s Kitchen’s-Chef Ramsey would agree
Once tasting her chicken cacciatore
No cookbook to create anything great
Only flour, eggs and an oven to bake
Swedish limpa bread with anise
Her minestrone soup makes a feast
Her intention is not to shock or impress
It just so happens she does with finesse
Whether gardening, painting or cooking
She is constantly busy doing something
Her acrylic or charcoal painting of old barns,
Run down tractors, country homes and farms
On a canvas, a saw, a fence or jar
Surpass any artist I have seen by far
Need an article researched, a recipe, or ride
She’ll stop whatever to be by your side
Never self involved not out of greed
Rather motivated by another’s need
My mother is the rarest angel on earth
Supremely selfless yet full of self worth
Unknowingly inspiring even to a stranger
Simply by modeling her unusual good nature
I feel so blessed that she is my mother
She loves and listens better than any other
A miraculous role model, balanced and whole
I love that I am part of her and share her soul
We cry as easily at displays of affection or pain
We both love snow and the sound of the rain
We are both, productive, sensitive and dedicated
Creative, independent, giving and self motivated
No one else I’d rather be than her daughter
I am the luckiest to have her as my mother
Her only girl and forever will always be
And she is an angel like no other to me
The cold biting my skin,
Like nails been hammered in,
Numbing all my nerves,
The dark sinister night,
Installing fear in my heart,
With faceless face,
The night outside,
Reminding me,
Of your magnificent face,
Wish you were here,
See how I yearn for you,
The problem is,
I don’t know you.
But I will wait for you,
As the moon waits for the night.

In a field that once was green, now building takes its place.
An apartment and four stores that are having a race
To be the first one that will open so the parking is laid down
And this becomes, very quickly, the start of an innovative new town.
Soon the train ads more track and a station is raised.
And the cars, for all the people, will need roads to be paved.
A small boy and his dog meander by the stores
But he feels like something’s missing, something that was there before.
So, he strides to the mayor’s office and requests to see her that very day.
And the mayor listens to him and she likes what he had to say.
About one month later, he notices his idea becoming true.
All along the paved road they are installing something new.
It’s a path, leading to a common that is bursting with beautiful flowers, bushes and some trees.
Soon the birds alight, then the squirrels arise, then appear the buzzing bumblebees.
In a field that once was green a small town grew and grew.
Thanks to a young boy and a fine mayor there is now some green, too.
Destiny is everyone's curse
Diverting every creature to verge of hope
Enveloping every desire,
Without sign of tomorrow's truth
Destiny is a curse
Riding along the sun and the stars,
With dreams and wishes in the midst,
To drive creature's determinations,
While installing sense of belief in their path
Destiny is everyone's curse
Leading the course of time,
Putting faith on the scale
As creatures try to press right buttons
Destiny is a curse
Cutting through centre of the earth,
Invoking different signals
That induce creatures to act distinctively
Destiny could be the turning point
Reinforcing your unflagging energy,
To sign in the register of inspired creatures,
Realise your calling,
And begin new journey meaningfully
