Happy Heaven Hermit

A few years ago I was installing carpet in someone's house and a little girl approached me and started asking me questions. A few minutes went by and she had told me that she had a hermit crab that had just died the night before. She had Hermit for 3-1/2 years and she was truly saddened by his death. So on my lunch break I wrote her this poem to cheer her up. Half way through she and her mother started bawling. Thank goodness by the time I was finished they both had smiles. I received two big hugs that day and one great feeling! I met a girl named Emily She was prettier than gold She had a little hermit crab That was almost four years old He came out of his shell one day And he said, "It's time to go I'm going up to heaven now And I thought that you should know I wanted to tell you, Emily Because I know how much you care So, when you go to bed tonight Please say a little prayer"
