                             Hummingbird, O how
                                                   You
                                               With your

As we flit and dart through pine scented sunshine
Gathering dreams, singing a new song
		                      As troubles melt away
		    	              And the joy of living
				      Returns to us
					 With every

						             World

Premium Member There Are Days When

Jewel-colored butterflies flutter in scarlet sage
Hovering hummingbirds on a red tubular stage

Highways they navigate apparently their own
Invisible to humans as they stay in their zone

These lovely creatures are by nature vivacious
At times if necessary can also be fallacious

Both either drift or glide in on a breeze
Plunge into a vortex of nectar sweets

Satiation of thirst while lost in the moment
Entrances spectators with similar enjoyment

There are days when fluttering colors
Dissipate daily woes... a gift of the hummers

Butterflies and hummingbirds are beauties to behold
Their appeal is captivating and never grows old

Premium Member A Hummerous Life

In times like this it’s pertinent to stroke the longest cord
for hummer is impertinent and seldom brings discord.
Each slippery politician who runs yelling, “Come on Board!”
is asking for some hummer from constituents lapboards.

He wants them on their knees paying, for taxing fills his hoard
Just a little hummer raises bundles and gets Johnny Boys accord.
And, if you think it just ain’t right to make a joke of Nancy*
then let me tell you baby, your hummers just not fancy!

Hell, you have to laugh at what they say, and their fancy stroking
for if you took them seriously, even Heimlich would be choking!
So, just remember next time your party yells "Come on Board!"
that if you do, you must expect the meaning is untoward.

*Nancy / Nancy boy - It is the opposite of being hard.
In cold weather a nancy boy would dress up in a coat,
hat, gloves and scarf and a hard guy would wear a t-shirt.

*hummer a slang word for a type of sex
** humour/hummer it's a play on words

Waiting to see my ruby delights
Magical hummers buzzing in flight
Tiny feathers glisten in sunlight
Sparkle like gems of emeralds and rubies
Beautiful creatures fast and sprite

Zooming and buzzing sounds
Searching for nectar, whispers of songs
I have no doubt, it won’t be long
Before they feel the pull
Of flowers in bloom and feeders full

One has landed, but only for a moment
Staring out my window, what a sight
I am seduced, vibrant hues so potent
Until next time, I will be
Waiting to see my ruby delights
Magical hummers buzzing in flight

Heal the World

Voices and screams wailing from the face of the world,
There is nothing but the days of Sodom and Gomorah
Soils of syria turns to ashes
The world is now a melting pot,
Jets and planes rocketing the face of the sky Visions from Sango are no more
Oh shame !
where the word love have gone
That world of tranquility and harmony without destructions,
Without tankers and hummers from united states trolling the lands of Sudan for peace in wars they start
In Ethopia my sisters are dying Alshabaab ravage the land ,dry bones are living in subjugation
In the name of power and sovereignity M23 turn to bullies
Everyday is a blood bath, (le) fleuve congo flow with hatred
Skies have gone grey with the mist from barrels
Mother is crying in Afighanstan for her baby son his life expectance reduces to 24 hours and living life is now by grace not by choice
Even the air we breath some one wants to take control and gain popularity out of it
I see power hungry turns our brothers into good guys with bad hearts
Yesterday it was father now its my own brother
Why is it that power turns to corrupt absolutely
Boko Haram is seeking all virgins of the land
And to my aquintances may be its only i left to fill this hole of earth and
I guess to vultures gone are the days of hunger
But why is it that we presume to be free but everywhere in chains
We work for them and they eat for us
They sing for us and we dance according to their tune

Hummingbirds and Snowflakes

Ordinary…yet precious moments
That adhere ardently
To one’s heart

Points in time that
Without reason or rhyme
Become outstanding… and stand apart

A trio of quarrelsome hummingbirds
Outside of one’s window
Tentative, timid… first flakes of snow

Playful puppies fighting over toys
Prickly Hummers and puppies alike
Naught but bickersome boys

Just an ordinary moment, in an ordinary day
ordinary ol’ man and his ordinary wife
An ordinary daughter, an ordinary life

This ordinary day…becomes a memory
And in turn becomes extraordinary
By some strange happenstance

A happy memory of Hummingbirds
And puppies and daughter’s pleasant company
..and snowflakes that dance…

Premium Member A Rush of False Bravado

Feeling a rush of false bravado
            though uninvited
I pitched a tent deep in your mind
there were many beautiful things
but the price was a menacing beast.
There were ruby throated hummers
meadow and flower surrounded by streams
but always just behind was the tapping hooves
           of that menacing beast
I was enchanted -thought of staying forever
but the perils were a little to much
pulling up stakes-leaving your mind
just as I'd entered, in a false bravado rush.

Tea Tales

Come and climb these
Broad bony branches and
Have tea on this tree
with me,
Let's talk our hearts out
Into the poems unsung.

Sleep silently singing in my sizzly eyes,
Sleep might snap with some pumpkin chai,
The sun is seeping in my sulky bones,
Soon the milky moon will mysteriously be alone,
Here, have some squishy scone
While the sun is setting sleekly,
I reckon we should have tea weekly.

Sandalwoody sultry summer,
Hyacinth, hibiscus and hummers,
Poppies, primroses and periwinkles,
The night in esoteric eyes twinkle,
Starling singing on a starless night,
No gloom, a moon , no light,
In this sordid slumber silence,
I can hear your eyes speak.

Let's tell each other
All our hearts hanker
To say,
Drink tea and recite
The poems and make
No delay,
I'll have chamomile tea,
I'm not Mrs. Bennet
But it'll calm my nerves,
You like your tea with herbs,
Spearmint, rosemary and thyme,
And make sure the poem rhymes.

Premium Member Silver On a Ring

As the dew lies upon the grass
Like silver on the ring
And the fog coats the green pines
After last night's blowing rain

A sun rises below the gray
Bright shining hides the stars
Each plant awaits sun's strong rays
Reaching from somewhere afar

The trumpet vines' orange flowers
Make nectar for birds and bees
A waxy columbine attracts
Come feed on nectar please

All trump blossoms are not so sweet
Some produce smelly stink
But his charisma draws the crowds
A slanted speech in pink

The woody honeysuckle blooms
A rich aromatic scent
Its trumpet flowers draw hummers
Nectar abundant present

Devil's trumpet dark nectar draws
An unusual crowd
Those on moral decline hey come
Lilium formosanum shroud

Foxglove a deadly trumpet plant
Small doses gives heart rebirth
The show has gone on~on
I'd say we got our dollar's worth

The political campaign has been an ongoing show
Hey we got our one dollar campaign contribution's
worth..LOL

Sounds of Color

A blazing field of screaming daffodils
Adorn the rolling country hills
A fresh cover of new spring grass
Atop the highest of boisterous meadows
Now amplified by orangey-yellows

Trumpets orchestrate a glorious blast
As a symphony of shouting dales adorn
The bulbs of chorus whites now singing
Do laugh away the warm sun light's morn

I become pompously fat like a busy buzzing bee
To inhale this spring filled clamor
The yellows and blacks parade each bouquet
Allowing my ears to hear each whisper

As ruby throated hummers wiz along the wigwag fields
To suckle all the orange and yellows
I stop to lie among this splendid sound of color
Which gives me all reason to hum cheerfully along

Premium Member By Kerosene Lamp Light

The storm of the night was windy
Loud refrains of thunder with lightening
Willow shook with fright hair fell flimsy
Forsaken somehow by electrical power's might

So writing by faint oil lamp light
Thinking of the great who of yore
Read_wrote_under adversity
Strong people our ancestors who our genes bore

Touched in many ways by the storms presence
Oh! The coolness of the air's sweetness
Heavy overcast shading of sun's ray
Great start to delightful day

All plants refreshed ready
Their flowers a host to feed
Casting forth flower and pollen
For the bees, hummers to spread their seed

Premium Member Flying Jewels

Hummingbirds flitter, flutter, dip and dive,
       seeking ambrosial nectar
                from ample garden blooms.

Delightful, these tiny flying jewels
        with iridescent feathers--
                they fly but cannot walk.

Little hummers darting from bloom to bloom,
        their wings in ceaseless motion--
                Welcome to my garden.

No Reception

Her single bouquet
of white roses
slowly expire,
in a cheap crystal vase,
atop a dust-laden
bookshelf.
Petals crying
a lover’s lament
are overheard by
out-patients of Eros
and other
nameless receivers.

She scrapes
her flushed face
against the claws
of a stuccoed wall.
Hidden cutlery
shares space
with buried photographs.
Scores of broken nails
and bleached hair follicles
float so neatly
in rusty brass tureens
filled with tears
of disgust.

Cursing pervades
heavy black corners,
piercing ozone canvas –
breaking codes
of respected silence
and calm.
Desirable wishes
remain empty
and pitifully abandoned;
a Levolor drawn
across the sun’s eyes.

She yelps
a mournful vendetta
against an elusive fate
and a cheated Genesis.
A regurgitated revenge -
a counter play towards
many things…

Inclement weather
and rain-slicked lanes
speeding Hummers
and Hennessey -
chauffeurs and Chivas -
as a limousine bids farewell
to a church filled with ecstatic
onlookers.

A Good Buzz

Wet 'n wonderful Monday morn
Not a time to fret 'n mourn
Hummers muster steady fluster
Tongues a flick in feeders
Males chase in up and down
As ladies take their turns to feed
It's all a constant dance to light
My joy of life in need
These visitors of tiny feather
So fine to see in any weather
Prevent my feeling down
It hurts to even frown
