Way to go! High Five
With my hand up in the air I gave a high five
I misjudged my aim, I had to dive

A HIGH FIVE TO JOLEEN
I would like to give a big High Five
To my wonderful niece, Joleen
For the devotions of God’s Word
She gives to us on a daily routine
It is shared on her Women’s page
Giving one another encouragement
With Biblical sagas and testimonies
Like offers of religious nourishment
As she takes us through the Gospel
She often displays a map of location
It reminds me of our own handprints
How we were made by God’s creation
Like a blueprint of our individual path
I look into the palm of my hand to see
That it is similar to a map or a guide
And it may help on my biblical journey
No two are alike in His written book
God made us each in a special way
Joleen is so very encouraging to all
She is a vessel of blessings each day
The steps she takes sharpens others
With perfect time like in Proverbs 27:17
As I learn the journey He put in my hand
I raise mine to give a High-Five to Joleen

Buy your full-body burka now
Made in Texas to fit a cow
The colour is black
It fits like a sack
So you'll feel as free as a sow!
I must take a stand. I must stand firm in what I believe
I have been working at this firm for three years
And my boss insists we have a meeting every morning
And this ritual has produced a habit I can no longer
Tolerate. As soon as an employee enters the conference
Room she is standing by the table with her hand up expecting
Everyone to give her a high five. She is so fake with
Annoying laugh and her half assed attempt
At boosting morale. Yesterday she laid off
Six employees and stood there smiling giving everyone
of them a high five. I refuse to give in, I will not, no, I shall not
give her a high five. I purposefully fill my hands with items to
make it impossible. I am carrying an iPad, a clip board, folders
and a cup of coffee. I approach the conference room her
assistant walks in and gives her a high five. I make my way in
walking swiftly, I pass her by motioning that my hands are full.
Out of the corner of my eye I see her reaching for my coffee cup.
NO SHE DIDN’T
She says, “I need my high five.” I am holding my cup even tighter
Squeezing it until the top pops off and “accidently” splashes her
Hand. I fake concern while her assistant acts as if she has a third
degree burns. I take my seat smiling on the inside. She didn’t get a
high five and her high five hand is injured. At the end of the meeting
I walk pass her and she calls my out my name. I turn to see her
Non-injured hand in the air, she says
“I never got my high five”
To Be Continued…..
Doggie paw patting
My leg under the table
Notice me, love me,
Give me a sweet treat to eat
Don't make me have to repeat!
I am now in a predicament. As I stand here watching
my boss with her hand in the air waiting, just waiting
for a high five. I think quickly, I tell her I am getting
A cold and I don’t want to spread any germs. I walk
out of the conference room and I honestly feel like skipping
to my office. No high five for her!! The next morning
I get to work with every intention of milking this
“cold” for as long as possible. I check my email
and my boss has the nerve to write that I should
stay home until I am over my cold, to prevent anyone
else from getting sick. I know good and damn well this is
retaliation for not giving her a high five. I plan on going
to her office to give her a piece of my mind. I get there
and she is in tears. Her assistant says she was just fired for
reasons she doesn’t know yet. Her boss walks out her office
I immediately raise my hand to give him a high five.
Walked by a man
He put out his fist
I walked by
That was rude
I heard him say
Ah a fist bump
How quaint
These kids
So young
So sure
Think everyone
Is just like them
Fist bumps
High fives
Secret handshakes
Of the young
Those my age
Did it differently
Peace
Free love
Long ago
We were young
Don’t know these sign
Of today
