Best Grow Old Poems
How could you get old, Daddy?
That's not supposed to happen
I'm your little girl
I can't see the stooped shoulders
I can't see the ravages of time, Daddy
Please don't get old
You were larger than life to me
Your word was gospel truth
I'd sit on your lap and fall to sleep
Knowing I was safe and sound
I'd play with your hair
and hear you sing
With that rich mellow voice
You were my comfort and strength, Daddy
Don't get old
Please!
I saw you take care of Mom
All those many years
Bathing
Changing
Brushing her hair
Cooking for us kids
Daddy...
It was so hard to see her go from bad to worse
I knew she was going to die
You were the love birds...
Why did she have to die?
It's been fifteen years, Daddy
I've already lost one parent....
I can't even begin to think....
No, don't get old, Daddy
Don't....leave me
I love you!!!
I understood the love of God
Because of your love, Daddy
Please, don't get old

My dad is visiting me from Cyprus. Ever time he comes to visit, I see a change in him. He'll turn 79 on March 12. he is in great health, but...I can't bear the thought of a time when....I can't bear the thought. May God keep him for me for longer....My father is an educator and pastor. He has his doctorate degree in Education and his MA in theology. He is my rock. I adore the man. He also is an author, and Yes, he writes poetry. Maybe later I'll post a poem he wrote about my birth! :)
Breathless beauty shine bright tonight
my loving arms will hold you tight
no wind, no storm, no evil tide
will whisk you away from my side
I'll fly you to a land where eagles soar
where mountains climb from the shore
guide you to a meadow where nature plays
where geysers spout most every day
show you a place where the buffalo roam
where a simple man can make a home
we'll sail the sea under star filled skies
gazing deeply into those caramelized eyes
we'll have no worries, we'll be carefree
so take my hand and grow old with me
The man I dream of,
is tender but strong,
and I will be the music,
to the words of his song.
His eyes will give comfort,
as I talk of my day,
and I will listen completely,
to all he will say.
A hand to hold,
a heart of gold,
together,
as we grow old.
When i grow old i will be glad
of the five braw weans im blessed to have
Gordon my oldest wise for his years
Kelly shes bolder but inside theres tears
Ashly my nightmare but i love her to bits
Sean has a laugh that has me in fits
Natasha the baby the wee cuty pie
I hope when she's older she gets a good guy
they are all so good looking no one can deny
and their all the apple of this mothers eye
When I
feel down
and out of sorts
and have no get up and go
the only thing that lifts my spirits

Sparkling ~ Dangling ~ Outrageous ~ Bizarre
the longer the better ~ the wilder they are
they are making me grin
I am feeling them swing
when moving my head
zany rings in my ears
some they are odd
some they are even
I wear them together
with flowers in my hair
lifting me making me
outlandish eccentric
zany I grow old disgracefully
but what do I care ~ with
bright red camellias adorning my hair

FIRST PLACE
When I grow old
Will I forget to remember
All my regrets?
Will I be kind to myself
With memories
Of a universe of time
Forfeited to fear?
When I grow old
Will phantoms fog my eyes
Will ancient ghosts sing me lullabies
Until I fall away Into dreams
Now mournful and cold?
Will I find myself awake in the dark
Praying,
Listening for that one lost beat
Of my heart?
When I grow old
Will I have the strength
To bear the weight of a world
That never was?
My dear,
There's nowhere I'd rather be,
Than by your side,
As you grow old with me.
I know we fight and carry on,
We wield our swords for all to see,
But darling I do love you so,
Settle in and please grow old with me.
When twilight sets and our bones creak,
When sunset is at the top of our hill,
When our passionate longing turns to comfort,
It is you I'll long for still.
When our luscious hair no longer grows,
When wrinkles show the many laughs,
When sighs replace sprints and jumps.
You'll still be my better half.
When our children are grown and living large,
When our teeth aren't as white or strong,
For every step I take down that path,
My love I want you along.
When flying dishes are replaced with shrugs,
When our joints groan instead of snap to,
When our lives are like the setting sun,
Justin I want to be with you.
You are the green in my garden,
You are the red in my art,
You are the harmony in my song,
You are the love in my heart.
I know we sometimes brawl and spur,
I know we talk of ending it all,
But the truth is, Rocketpants, there's no one else
But with you whom I'll take the fall.
You are my strength, my grace, my inspiration,
You are my reflection when I'm at my best,
There's no one like you in this whole wide world,
I choose you above all the rest.
You fascinate me and leave me in wonder,
You spark my passion and calm my bones,
When your strong arms are wrapped around me,
I can exhale. I'm finally home.
Let's walk this plain hand in hand,
But not too fast, let's take it slow,
Come grow old with me, my sweet love,
And we will walk together into the glow.
Let’s grow old together,
So that we will be close to each other.
Let’s grow old together,
So that we will be richer.
Let’s grow old together,
So that we will see each other.
Let’s grow old together,
So that our families will be forever.
Let’s grow old together,
So that our vision becomes a reality.
Let’s grow old together,
So that we will be there for each other.
Let’s grow old together,
So that our days will be merrier.
Let’s grow old together,
So that the pain will be lesser.
Let’s grow old together,
So that our children will be happier.
Let’s grow old together,
So that our love will be stronger.
Let’s grow old together,
So that we will conquer together.
Let’s grow old together,
So that we will understand each other.
Let’s grow old together,
So that our lights will be brighter.
Let’s grow old together,
So that we will be young forever.
Together, vow for vow, face to face,
I will be your friend forever. Baby,
Let’s grow old together.
I wanna grow old with you
I wanna see ourselves together
Still holding hands tightly
Even in the midst of parting.
I wanna grow old with you
I wanna feel the warmth of your smile
Still burning brightly
Even we know its dimming.
I wanna grow old with you
I wanna cling on your arms
Still feeling secured
Because I know you're still the one.
That I will be with till the dawn
Till everything may come to an end
Still I wanna be with you
The one I know for so long.
I wanna grow old with you
I wanna share the joys of my life
The sorrows we spent together
The graces you and I have.
I wanna grow old with you
Till you're there for me
Till we share the same dreams
I'll be with you.
I would like to grow
old with you,
Let the years pass
by,
I want to know you,
and you to know me.
I want you to be
your friends'
as much as you are
mine,
and I want you to be
mine
as much as you are
your friends'.
Let us live
so that we learn
about the life,
and to support each
other.
We should cry on
each other's
shoulders.
We need to share and
we need to get bored
together,
so much so that we
should be bored of
getting bored alone!
We should celebrate
our
anniversaries/special days
at our home,
with one bottle of
wine and in our
pijamas,
or sometimes with
friends drinking
cheap beer...
We should live like
this..
And then, we should
have a baby.
Imagine, a living
creature that is
yours and mine!
We should pacify it
at night in turns..
You should sometimes
be a spoilsport,
and I should take
your turn.
I should be not
cooking because I'm
tired,
and you should break
an egg, grumbling.
When it's cold
outside,
we should spoon each
other in bed.
While the time
passes by fast,
we should have a
life well-lived and
with no regrets.
We should not be fed
up with each other,
despite everything.
All those days spent
together, happy or
sad,
they should be ours.
When our hair turn
grey,
or even when we lost
them,
we should leave this
city,
making sure the kids
are alright.
We should go settle
somewhere,
where you don't wake
up to a murder,
to a quiet town.
We should admire the
sea from our balcony
at night,
we should sit in our
rocking chairs.
You should ask me
for a coffee when
you come home.
The kids should come
visit us,
and we should
remember our old
lively days.
You should call me
"Sir" (or husband),
and I should call
you "Madam" (or
wife).
You should so love
me that all I've
written shouldn't
scare you.
They should make you
smile.
When we pass away
one day,
there should only be
some smile on our
faces.
In everything,
there should be the
pride of loving each
other...
The day starts with your name
the nights in your thoughts
Our intense romantic vision
Like the glimmering lakes
mesmerised by your phrase ;
I cling to your verse
You will never grow old in your soul
The diverse elements of art Mingles with your poetry
Your mind weaves them With perfect synchronizations
The spontaneous expression
Captures the attention of your lady love( SMRITI JHA)
the universality of your artistic fervour
continues to inspire the living legends
I shall continue to read you in my LoneLY hours .
ONLY FOR YOU MY LOVE !
DATED : FOREVER
I will grow old
I tremble in the cold
None to care
I have nothing to fear...
But my love is alive
Though I strive
Beautiful roses to pluck
Yet I am stuck..
I grow old with wrinkle
Yet I will kinker
You will always remain in my mind
This is how you will find...
If these eyes shall become blinded, and if this
hair shall come to be combed thinly and grey;
No, it would not be the end of the world.
I would still see beauty therein this world through
the songs of Crickets and Feathered Songsters.
The breeze would yet whisper and trees still dance.
I would yet smell the freshly bloom of Spring.
I'd still endure Summer's sweltering heat.
I'd yet feel Autumn's leaves crunch 'neath these toes.
I'd still long to be fireside with Winter.
Disabled or not, perhaps I'd yet walk
therein wonderful imagination.
How I'd be forever young at heart!
Then just as one journey came to an end,
I'd indeed greet another with a smile.

It is a gift to grow old
Sadly ,so many never get that chance
Taken too young
Their lives merely a glance
It is a gift to grow old
Often taken for granted along the way
To be blessed to live a long life
It is simply a gift….just being able to stay!
