Who Can Argue Miracles Exist?

No man, be he grandiloquent or coarse;
             be he a learned novel or tattered page;
             be he devout in faith or drenched in doubt;
be he a man replete with shame of sin:
No man (unless an empty man who flaps like cynic’s skin)
who has watched the early sun come out
or heard the song of sparrows spared the cage:
No man in love with his daughters: No man in love with his universe.

Premium Member a modern girls delay

(a disastrous morning Sonnet)

I am the very model of a girl who’s late for morning meal,
my charger failed, the printer jammed, the morning’s start has been surreal
I lost a scrunchy and a shoe, I had to use some dry shampoo
my Keurig had no k-cups too, so I’m feeling like a total shrew!

Our pre-dawn jog went really well, but now the morning's gone to hell
I couldn’t find clean underwear, I’m desperate to charge my cell,
I got some soap in my left eye, I stubbed my toe and nearly cried
While brushing teeth and hair in haste, I wonder why I even try.

Anna’s got an attitude; she’s not someone who’s normally rude
her hookup so ‘experimental’ has an irregular sleep-in schedule
how’s she going to get to class if she’s babysitting sleeping-lass
I guess I’m not the only one, who’s schedules simply come undone.

I woke her with a gentle voice and soothed her out—we had no choice
My morning happened to sideways go—but it fueled this grandiloquent tale of woe!

Premium Member Breathtaking Night

Beyond the limits of my finite mind
Right past the layered air is where I find
Eternity is etched in orbs that glow
And as I gaze, I'm breathless by the show
The garb of night embellished by the stars
Haphazard not one orbit, there is Mars
Triumphant, every constellation rules
Adoring thoughts ascend from human fools
Kinetic, though to me, they're standing still
Inspired, I take in celestial thrill
No single thing can match this wondrous sight
Grandiloquent the stars that bring delight!

Ethereal

a single drop
escapes and shapes
the one reforms into the many
forces merge and maintain the center
as an ocean to a clear running stream
effortless delicate movements
the beautiful semblance of creation
only free when infinity extends an open hand
we gracefully bend submitting to the wind
ever escalating the highest life and limb
gales roll in and away
drifting wide and floating astray
iridescence is indescribable yet defines
the sky as she decides a color
her choice always a brilliant contrasting horizon
grandiloquent patterns push to lavish design
extending to no less than the highest point
contours of jewels and soft silky edges
expand in the flourishing demand
moving on in an elaborate showdown
illumination has changed direction
mist is abundantly clear
looting and diverting a moon’s glow
enhancing the sky’s light with spectrum’s of sight
diamonds in the sky
these silhouettes fall into a slow embrace
obscurity celebrates movement
with this final chance in a dance
abstract is an overachiever here
endlessly molding a new shape
a familiar sight replaces the mirage
swarming the moonlight to be still
to see the secret inside a shimmer
the very heart of all things
where a reminiscent choral sound
rhapsodies pure aesthetic
calls you to a sublime slumber
magnificent claims this place of illusion
a majestic showing of dreams and nightmares
more is all we need
patiently we await the kiss from bliss
her touch behind the eyes
opens up the skies
for an Ethereality

Premium Member The Chromatic Christmas Conundrum

In antediluvian times, so pluviophilian
Red and gold adorned the grandiloquent pavilion.
With circumlocution's mellifluous elocution
Yellow frankincense sparked a yuletide revolution.

Colors of Christmas idiosyncratic and bright
Symptomatic of joy a quintessential sight!

Black's defenestration led to white's sequestration
Blue myrrh, an epiphenomenon of celestial creation.
The floccinaucinihilipilification of green
An obfuscation of nature's loquacious sheen!

Colors of Christmas idiosyncratic and bright
Symptomatic of joy a quintessential sight!

Orange juxtaposition a kakistocracy of hue
Violet and indigo a perspicacious view.
Silver's mellifluous tone, never superfluous
In this chromatic prolegomenon, so wondrous!

Colors of Christmas idiosyncratic and bright
Symptomatic of joy a quintessential sight!

Nonplussed by colors we're rediscussed
This verisimilitude leaves us all nonplussed.
Recalcitrant shades concomitant with glee
A serendipitous fortuitous Christmas spree!

Hippopotomonstrosesquippedaliophobia aside.
(Fear not these long words let your aichmophobia subside!)
With tintinnabulation and confabulation
We revel in this spectrum's elucidation!

Colors of Christmas idiosyncratic and bright
Symptomatic of joy a quintessential sight!

From soliloquent red to audacious gold
Our multitude of colors both new and old.
This Christmas palette so efficacious
Renders our celebration truly vivacious.

Yet beyond these hues lies a gift profound
A child is born; in Him true light is found.

For unto us a child is born
Unto us a son is given
And his name shall be called Wonderful Counselor
Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.

(Isaiah 9:6)

Premium Member Better Names for an Octopus

A better name for an octopus?
It's tough to make stuff up.
We could start with a brand-new appellation.
How about a name like "Suction Pup"?!

Or perhaps we could start the debate
with a numerical tag like "Ocean's Eight".

Another name open for discussion
would be a handle like "Squid's Cousin".

Still another, somewhat grandiloquent,
could be the rather pompous "Inknificent".

My Scottish friends, with joy, will weep
if the new label is "Bagpipes of the Deep"!

Or one can almost hear sailors shout "Ahoy!
Is that a rock? No, it's an Ol' Tangly Boy!"

Premium Member The 11th Hour

where are your eyes in the 11th hour?
do they roam to and fro, roaring
with insipid power, baiting the hook,
fishing for retractable men?

where is your nose in the 11th hour?
is it sniffing out a cesspool of plots,
hanging with odious men by the fire,
drawing in men with deceptive smoke signals?

where is your mouth in the 11th hour?
are you rambling out rhetoric, grandiloquent smut,
smirking, curling your lip, your serpentine tongue
slithering and snapping up every adamic crumb?

where are your ears in the 11th hour?
are they trembling with vibrations of horror,
jingling change from restless legs, harkening to
every pandering pain - every wicked wile?

where is your touch in the 11th hour?
are you reddening faces, tenderizing
every black and blue artery and vein,
darkening the skin of Eve like a cancerous cloud?

~ ~ ~

in the 11th hour, her kind eyes shower,
with rainbow tears, leaping upwards,
bowed in reverent fear, insightful and wise,
vigilant and circumspect.

in the 11th hour, her nose drawn to scents,
yes of honeysuckle and baby powder
but also the downpour of the poor and sick,
attentive to the stench.

in the 11th hour, her mouth soothes
with compassion, just and good,
sensitive to worn out souls, smiling
tenderly, speaking at chosen times.

in the 11th hour, her ears ever alert,
pierced by the outcry of Eve’s children,
drawn to lilting laughs, lullabies and psalms,
anywhere a helping plea sounds.

in the 11th hour, her touch gentle and soft,
changing diapers, dusting off tears, foraging food
for her family and the lonely, handing out hugs,
midnight feet tucking in the sheets.

~ ~ ~

Indeed, the 11th hour is here,
a time where good is called bad
and bad pronounced good.

In the overcast skies,
the spread of candlelight
like stars, so mercifully bright.

As midnight strikes,
each star is gathered like wheat,
the sun and the moon fall asleep.

Premium Member Today Is the First Day of Happiness

Apprehend a blessed moment
of wonderful haughty agreeableness

Embroider it into a legacy hour
Exhilarated and motivated yet?

Not a gargantuous task
bohunks and lunkheads can do it

Jocular? Not me.
Grandiloquent perhaps.

Lavish yourself with volumes of joy
Be flexible, accept inspiration

Today is the first day of happiness
encouraging many succeeding such days

Glean hope and faith so you can
share it and embellish it

Deranged? Not any more than I was
yesterday or the day before

Idiom: No Love Lost

Love poems, how trite they become.
Their hackneyed themes we want to scream.
We purposely shy away from
That genre, teeming so it seems
With grandiloquent, large supplies
Of conjured words with empty rings
Of cheating hearts and love that dies.
Ad nauseam is all it brings.
We wish just once that we could read
Where love’s expressed differently:
Brand new verses that supersede
Love’s banal themes in poetry.
Love-lost poems are sickening
But most of all they are boring.

Orotund In the New Year

Bombastic… So grandiloquent
We are stated to be pompous asses.
Therefore, our outcry is heard.
2017 is over.
We are ready to bring in the New Year when the clock hits eleven.
One more hour to go.
Yet, time is moving too slow.
So, we party!
We are dancing and singing our favorite songs.
Illumining where we are demonstrative and high-flown.

Magniloquent… So bombastic
We are as plain as eyesight.
Our excitement is not pretentious.
We ready to blow minds.
2018 is the year to overcome the barriers that preexist.
It is time to move on and the past is history.
This because we are futuristic.
Orotund in the New Year with laughter and good will.

Domestic Violence

We need to seriously talk about living in a dangerous predicament
Where everything in your life is awry.
You won't win an argument.
It's no accident
When a person receives a black eye.
We need to seriously talk about living in a dangerous predicament.
He wants to make you subservient.
For you to feel motified and by his hands you could
Even possibly die.
You won't win an argument
These attacks will be come more frequent.
Believe me! I can testify.
We need to seriously talk about living in a dangerous predicament.
The man is virulent as well as violent.
Please! Don't deny.
You won't win an argument.
It's amazing how you do things that are inconvenient to
His grandiloquent
Way of life which just goes to signify
We need to seriously talk about living in a dangerous predicament.
You won't win an argument.

The Thousand Ships

A THOUSAND SHIPS

Is this the face, this old hulk in the salt marsh?
Is this my lady with creaking timbers
 and peeling skin?

A mere figurehead, a turkey prow,
missing one oar, grandiloquent, vainglorious,
still fighting the old sea-battles
with the wind and waves

the thousand ships
that lie at the bottom of the sea.
