The invitations were sent to alumni far and near,
To gather for the school reunion later in the year.
The ultimate occasion to turn on all the old charm,
And fondly remember those who have bought the farm!
Ladies wear tight-fitting girdles to shrink the pounds.
Guys try crash diets to reduce flabbiness that abounds.
It's been over half a century since our graduation day.
It'll be intriguing to see how others fared along the way!
Old pals circulate boasting and bending my weary ear,
Regaling with boring trivia that I really don't want to hear.
I tell others how great they look, looking them straight in the eye,
As I cross my fingers behind my back for telling such a lie!
It appears that the campus queen totes a bit of additional weight.
That once haughty snob now tips the scales nigh one ninety-eight!
There's the big man on campus, voted the most apt to score success,
Guzzling booze as is his bent, displaying a bit of queasiness!
The years have elapsed, rolling on at a frightful pace,
But as long as docs keep us patched up we'll stay in the race!
To perhaps convene once again down life's treacherous road.
If not here, than a rousing reunion in that heavenly abode!

From tiny gals with itty-bitty bippies
to larger ladies with super-dooper droopers,
we curse the “men” who design underwire iron maidens.
My “pointers” don’t bounce
(as a friend observed),
so why submit to torturous braziers?
I’m glad they don’t droop –
makes body surfing easier,
though surfboard owners argue, “Rudders help."
Despite chidings from my sister
(estranged now; I don’t miss her),
I saunter through life in comfort.
From 32A to 44 Triple-D,
who will stand unbridled with me
as we create a “bonfire of the vanities”?
On a huge wooden statue of Genghis Khan
we’ll place our bras – strap them on
and dance in a delight only primitive tribal ladies know.
You can add girdles,
chastity belts too,
and every foot-crunching pair of shoes.
On St. Patrick’s Day
we’ll march proud in a parade,
singing, “Erin, go braless” all the way!

Lyric
Voyagers, convene thyselves to return, among us...
Caesura, crown nigh clod, a sylph unwept,
elision thy silhouette, meno thy minuet...
Thine late occurence on thee, wake of cerise sand
Thou belief, like a billow, upon your whitish cheek,
'Twas marina bay, her twaddle a garb of mer,
A henchman docks, thy quay, girdles stymie ebbs,
but he cannot dream aloft a dream she confers...
O'er to woo hand in hand, thou overture unto Sirocco,
Plagues thy pirate ships, quakes men with mar,
His and his only demand, an aegis for lagoons amidst...
Once deluged, sun askew above, one abyss of bagatelles
Deters a tocsin, feign mooting mammals, thy kin a boon,
Aquatica, thee damsel for diminuendos, spurns thy sire,
Her gentle mettle, calls thee, His fervor season calentures...
Aloof thy celestial kisser, nay thy nine, vim domiciles solitary
Doomed skulls ravish, an age id by ice, culls thee, for chastity,
Some may not know, we died to have our love live, over and again,
Amity vows posy littoral seaflowers, buoys colonnades of adventure...
thence, cradles await upon matins, sail thy Oceanus genesis, amen.

Many years ago,
girls wore girdles.
The tight uncomfortable things,
they held one in tight.
One summer's night,
I snuck my girlfriend out.
We were off on a double date,
a night of fun and laughs.
Her date found her girdle,
the unsupervised stop sign.

The chains that bind me are soft as silk,
Gossamer to the touch, so thin you wouldn’t think they could hurt...
They seem no more than mere bangles,
Jewelled manacles adorning throat and wrists and ankles
They don’t grate on my skin, barely fray the edges of my nerves
Most of the time I don’t even realise they are there
You must be so proud of yourself my love;
You were the weaver of these restraints,
The arbiter of this subtle asphyxiation
You ensnared me with ropes of words, with sweet nothings
And declarations of impassioned love,
Spoken in the name of God, the Merciful, the Ever Watchful
If only I possessed even a fragment of such omnipotence –
I would not be here now, tangled in this soft silver stranglehold,
In these necklaces and girdles and garters of a lover’s laws
When was the moment where you stopped being gentle
And became, instead, a gentle-eyed tyrant?
I must have blinked and missed it, or been blinded by your beguiling smile
Anyway it does not matter now, because here I am,
Dying a slow perfumed death in your ghostly arms,
Reduced to a bewildered puppet on the ends of your serrated steel strings
The secrets of my being stuffed deep down inside of my soul,
Where you cannot find them – where only God can see
Because you seem to have lost sight of what I am baby
And only God will be the one to show you the real, wild and untamed me
The person I am supposed to be...

A guy wore a dress for all to see
On TV, he was called Dorothy
To his pals he was Mike
Girdles he disliked
On set, he would sit down to pee.

Geez fella won’t you look at me,
I’ve got my best frock on.
My girdles tight, my bosom heaves
and I’m stuck here ‘til mornin’.
You’re welcome in this Rotgut bar,
but kid you heed my warnin’,
git rid that ol’ ten gallon hat,
and don’t you start no brawlin’.
Stop fumblin’ with Sally-Anne
she’s just a broke ol’ toy.
It’s my turn for a night of fun
So come o’er here cowboy.
Hang yer belt up on the door,
ignore the ol’ grave digger,
the whisky’s cheap and I am too,
So come on, squeeze my trigger.

I love to rap and tap most times ,
My wrist ,I can twist with real ease ,
Even though I’m not in my prime ,
My femurs and knees slide like grease ,
Hip for hip-pop dance and axis
for break dance which pivots the neck,
Enabling girdles to assist,
Failure can lead to serious wreck ,
But blues is safe with little pulls ,
Making you close to your dear one,
Backache is close where rock song rules,
Ballroom or ballet is full of fun ,
Wasteless waist is more used than tarsals ,
And restless chest more than carpals .
Parts of body used are :Wrist ,femurs ,Hip ,neck ,waist ,knees , etc.

Oriental head dresses glisten in mid-morning sunlight
small waists fitted into tight girdles and large crinolines
move gracefully over chipped cobblestone
Men tip their top hats and wink at beautiful young women twirling decorative
umbrellas over well kept hair.
Church bells echo through streets of young children playing tag.
Men escort their wives over rain puddles collected at the gutters.
Old women browse shop windows smiling only when a bakery beckons them with
sweet smells of sugar and flour.
The town sways with love and greatness.
A small stage looms in the town center calling those seeking entertainment.
'Only two cents' for a ballet preview or 'three cents' for an opera opening.
At night couples, young and old descend decadent staircases at the ball, flaunting
beautiful dresses.
Singles curtsy before slipping into a slow waltz.
Weary mothers keep a close eye near by.
A beautifully painted sky provides moon light for long walks and sweet talks while
sleeping children lie safely under tucked in blankets at home.
Oh, such a beautiful scene.

That's what they say to me,
Writing verse that does not conform,
Style which doesn't comply with their old dead masters,
Using formats that threaten aged literary girdles,
So long ago having lost their stretch,
Constraining brains to the point of not thinking,
Afraid to lose trainees whose minds walk in lock step,
Imaginations dying at the end of a branch that no longer grows,
Clinging to purist letters on wrinkled pages,
While mavericks like me frighten them with one simple word,
Change.
Note: And so critic friends, actually I am so dam happy my mind
is free of your ancient rules.

"A poem to me is the essence of any thought,
Being built from its foundation into tower scraping sky.
It can fly like no other bird to places never seen,
Even spaceships can only dream of taking its place."

Narrative
On balmy beach blithe commodore
Without ship, rudder, or rowing oar
Striding gusts, waves only chore
Soothing breeze girdles the shore
Sidling along, currents to explore
Mind's tranquil base to restore
Body's chafed shaft to bore
Frothy mist o'er skin doth pour
Swabbed flesh awaiting encore
To swaddle each beckoning pore
More cooling streams do implore
To massage deep into heated core
Somnolent tune blithe rhythms store
Each floating note tingling drums score
Fluttering through ethereal seams do soar
Then descends, rasping at heart's sheltered door

Acrostic
The days on earth wear thin
Like my hair
And where girdles pull in a
Sagging mass
And memory is washed by a
Lunar pull-
Like the tide that washes over
Footprints in the sand
Soon memories are gone
like a dying star grows dim
And I return recycled to
The worms
But my heart knows a better
Place-
Where reserved for me
I know so well-
I will glow in -The eternal day
That is- my permanent home
