“Peace I leave with you
           my peace I give you
I do not give to you as the world gives
Do not let your hearts be troubled
do not be afraid” (John 14:27)

But I am scared
      Blood runs down streets
      Hatred, rage, violence dance
            In a chaotic frenzy performance
                     of evil malice . . .

What do your words mean?
Are they void – empty promises?
Where is the peace in deafening explosions?
In the cacophony of rapid gun fire?
     Screams of horror?
           Tears of death???

“I am the resurrection and the life
The one who believes in me will live
                 even though they die
and whoever lives by believing in me will never die
Do you believe this?” John 25:26

Yes, I want too . . .
But fear creeps around my heart
Its cancerous fibers sinking deep – choking me
Doubts greet me in the morning
     Panic sleeps in my bed
     I am weak
     Hear my cries of desperation

“Be strong and courageous
       Do not be afraid
       do not be discouraged
for the Lord your God will be with you
                wherever you go” (Joshua 1:9)

Stay close – fill me
     I cannot see –
     Darkness surrounds me
     Death, destruction, desecration, depression
     Blood, bitterness, bile, blight

“I have come into the world as a light
so that no one who believes in me
             should stay in darkness
If anyone hears my words but does not keep them
I do not judge that person
For I did not come to judge the world
but to save the world” (John 12:46-47)

I cannot begin to fathom this
         How great is this love
               Forgiveness over revenge
	           Peace over violence
	                Life over death
	                        Love over hate
                  Help me I pray

“A new command I give you
              Love one another
             As I have loved you
so you must love one another” (John 13:34)

Love one another . . .

Premium Member Love Gift

I saw Love climb upon the wind
Heard the laughter in the breeze
Tasted lilacs, jasmine, and honeysuckle
With a turn and twist Love caressed my skin
The scent of dark chocolate filled my nose
A deep longing-hunger arose within me

Love was off again gathering the rain clouds
A shower of tears . . . refreshing
My parched soul drank deeply
Sweetness spread across my tongue
My body filled with Love’s offering
Now joyful tears fell from my eyes

A drowsiness overcame me and I slept
Love slipped into my dreams
Warm light cocooned me and filled my lungs
Bright colors danced upon my fantasies
An incredible energy pulsated throughout my body
Love took my hand and laughing -- we chased the light

Breathing hard I asked Love . . . this precious gift, why me? I am unworthy
Love answered: I Am the whisper in the wind
The Spirit of truth seeking and restoring . . . you are wholly loved
Of the mighty Kings -- Faith, Hope and Love
I Am the greatest . . . and you are worthy to Me
Go now and be Love . . . and know, I Am with you always

Premium Member In the Moment

Sitting by his bed
Labored breathing
Time is short
Holding his hand
A prayer – for him, for me
Be strong and courageous
Eyes blink open for a moment
Then nothing – gone
Tears flow
Skin relaxes
Death pallor forms
Alone in the moment
Alone

Cell Phone rings
My daughter in a panic
Fear spikes my heart
Dad – there are ants in the bathroom
Relief – exhaling
Death in the moment
But also Life
Life

Goodbye dear friend
Our time over
Your precious love and wisdom
I take
To guide my moments
My moments

To love
To forgive
To encourage
To live
Each day
Each person
In every situation
Compassionately
Boldly
Completely
In every moment

In
Every
Moment

Premium Member Worth More Than Millions

Jesus gives me directions
To love as He has loved
With a sincere compassion
That knows no conditions

This love of His has no limits
It goes beyond worry and strife
It fills the heart with a joy…
That can only be expressed in rebirth

This love of His has a purpose
To give generously, without constraint
With a true sensitivity to the feelings…
That someone else has felt

This love of His has been given
To bring salvation to the sinner
Reaching into a wretched heart…
And bringing about a complete surrender

This love of His holds the answers
To every question we might ask,
Creates a sense of peace on the inside
That could never compare to another serenity

This love of His sends us promises
That our greatest fears will be overcome
By the assurance that no harm can arise…
For those who trust in God’s only Son

This love of His mends what is broken
Whether it be a heart or a spiritual pain
It restores the one who feels shattered…
With a promise of true hope and faith

This love of His succeeds where nothing else can
Pleading victory from these nail scarred hands
Reaching down to the poorest, lost sinner
And giving a new life, a new way, a second chance.

This love of His is worth more than millions
No amount of money can possibly buy it
Through grace, it is eternal salvation sent to us
Who simply have the faith to accept Him

Premium Member Thirsty Love

As a young boy
I watch with interest the small man
Wolf Hunter - a wise father of the hunt

He begins an old ritual
   coating his knife blade
rich animal blood and tallow fat
   freeze

Wolf Hunter adds another blood-tallow layer
   freeze
   and another – freeze

A frozen tallow-blood knife

Wolf Hunter knowing the wolf
    fixes his knife in ground
    blade up
    prays and leaves . . .

Grey wolf sniffs air and begins to run
    blood is on the wind
he licks, tasting the delicious blood-tallow

He howls into the night and licks faster
   a blood lust building
lapping the blade until the sharp edge bites

Feverishly now, faster and harder
Grey wolf licks the blade in the arctic night
great is his craving for blood

The insatiable blood-thirst
now being satisfied by his own warm blood
the naked blade biting his tongue
    his carnivorous appetite devouring

In the pale morning light
    Wolf Hunter finds Grey Wolf
    dead in the snow
stooping down he picks up his knife

 I stand . . . frozen – sicken by the sight
Wolf Hunter looking at me says
. . . to be consumed by your own desire
is a dangerous and deadly foe

Years later
    staring at the bottle
hands shaking -- eyes filled with lust
    a vison: a grey wolf consumed . . . dead
the howl of the wolf-wind beseeching

To be consumed by your own desire is a dangerous and deadly foe

Premium Member The Generous Bard

(The Merry Adventures of Robin Good)

Sherwood's Forest legendary, leading man
up, down, tricking eggs between branches
slender, slander, his voice is growing thinner
twisting, turning heads 50 shades of green

Master of disguise reaching for the top archers spot,
A bard, with uncanny precision, ROBIN nonstop
Splitting his opponent LIKE A BOSS!
Aiming arrows, where broken women sit
Creating fantasies, for his band of hypocrites
A serenade, of jealousy and mayhem
A poetic outlaw, generously taking what others earn
Wearing black tights, the hottest profile, sipping wine
A lust beyond Dorthy's Rainbow, a venomous poem
Somewhere, covered in leprechaun's gold
His chest is cold
- Yet warm from all the hands caressing this bard,
He is the best, gravity has no weight on his pen,
A soundless soldier having his way with his sword,
Executing those who challenge him,
Breathing life into many empty accounts
Giving voices and self-encouragement
With no time to drop down this bard from cloud nine
A dissipation of air fresheners and hello's
Painting pain just to pretend it hurts the person
A fragile voice whispering in the shadows

Slithering Secrets;
From this hooded bard who carries no face,
A mask of lies, taking what belongs to others.
Robin of honor, graveled by his peasants
MISUNDERSTOOD in every fashion, yet he preys
Pipping dreams away, down an infested rat's path
Shoving Little Johns hopes down the list

Robin is no common criminal, just a bard
Wearing a dark cloak, when in disguise
taking from the greedy --- giving to the needy

Thank you for enjoying my story

Premium Member Your Love Redeemed My Faith In Hope - a Collaboration With Robert Lindley

Across the dance floor, your soft sashaying gown flew
with its bright waving gleams of silver dust and blue;
within that blessed gaze, lonesome heart jumped a beat
seeing those golden slippers on your dainty feet,
feeling love's welcomed arrows shot by Cupid's bow
knowing that most treasured gift would forever grow!

That cool June night we walked under golden moon's beams
with your heart and soul gifting love that so redeems;
this man that had lost heart and walked a blind path
death long ago condemned this soul to darkest wrath,
torn asunder joy in life that had been a gift
chained this spirit upon a black-ship set adrift!

Loss of my beloved I once lived blind despair
wading through this evil world's black pits without care;
her sweet love reminding me of Hope that was lost,
found anew when your destined path with mine was crossed.
I saw the world with open eyes but could not see
Faith, till sight was laid upon fair beauty of thee...

Your rosy warmth danced with grace thawing my cold heart,
seduced by rousing rhythm never would we part.
My heart began to waltz and pallid pulse did race
as I saw charmed moonlight caress your angel’s face,
I longed forevermore to tilt your chin and kiss
your promising sunrise lips of heavenly bliss.

That early summer’s eve I took a leap of faith
willing to let go of my haunting lost love wraith,
I found with you the heart to fall in love once more
and glissade you in my arms ‘cross life’s ballroom floor.
Alone in love’s spotlight of golden moon beam’s glow
you have my whole attention for you stole the show.

Premium Member Wind Rider

An old man sits peacefully in deep thought
Missing teeth, milky eyes . . . leathery skin
Wind Rider his name – a shaman

The young man seethes in anger
Strong, excitable . . . limbs in constant motion
Standing Bear his name – dangerous and violent

Smoke curls lightly into the sky
A sacred moment upon the plain
Old to the young – a story

The soft voice rises . . . catches the wind
There is a battle that rages within each of us
. . . two wolfs circle each other

One is evil . . . it’s spirit is angry filled with
jealousy, sorrow, greed, arrogance, guilt
resentment, inferiority, lies . . . ego

The other wolf is good --- it’s spirit is filled with
joy, peace love, hope, humility, kindness, empathy
generosity, truth, compassion . . . faith

Each wolf is strong and howls into the night wind
Yellow-red eyes flair, deep throated-growls, bared fangs
Breathing hard they attack

Wind Rider lifts his heavy head
Feels the sun . . . waits

Standing Bear thinking . . . finally asks
Who will win?

Wind Rider smiles
The one you feed

Premium Member Mother -- Come Home

Sitting with her now
       Watching
How did she get so old?
How did I get so old?
So many pills
Green, blue, white, red, yellow, orange
All kinds of shapes
Round, oval, oblong – big and small
A tackle box with markings
       Monday through Sunday

We talk and laugh . . . then
       A knock on the door!
I’ll get it
A police officer – young, clean shaven
As I open the door
      I jokingly yell . . . He’s here to arrest you mom!
Sir, I do need to speak with your mother. . .
      What, Oh . . . come in

Mrs. Meade, did you hit another car?
Her face showed confusion, concern . . . fear
With a trembling voice . . . No officer, I dd i d not
I followed the young man to the garage
A scrape, red paint, a missing mirror
     My heart sank
Thinking to myself – is she lying?
Or does she not realize what she has done?
Does it matter?
     The time has come . . .

As I hug this frail old woman
Shoulders shaking, tears soaking my shirt
I whisper in her ear
    Do not fear . . . everything will be OK . . . . I love you
Standing there I realized
    Our roles had changed
Come my darling
It is time for you to live with us
Happy Mother’s day
    I do love you!

Can You Hear Me?

I never talk to you as much as I should
Just to say thank you for all of your gifts
I take for granted all that you’ve given to me
Sometimes blaming you for all I have missed
And when you come to me I shy away
Feigning I can’t see you or hear you
But no matter where I look you’re around me
In every vivid color and shape of movement
You voice beckoning in all the worldly sounds
I even try to hide myself away from you
Still you find me wherever I go without effort
Cruel and hard or ignorant and fleeting
I’ve been both and you lovingly embrace me
Cursing you at the losses washed upon me
Your hand generously gives without prejudice
Gluttonously taking much more than my fill
When I look back you’ve again filled my cup
All the mistakes I have made and will make
Many of them knowingly and willingly
Still you offer all of your forgiveness
If only I will ask as a son should his father
I’ve broken so many of your rules a multitude of times
Deceiving myself believing you wouldn’t notice
Still you offer me everything you have
When I lay in the dark at night and examine
I hope and fear you and I doubt and pray
I hope you can hear me through all the other voices
Although I fear you don’t listen to me anymore
I force myself to doubt your existence
Knowing the truth unwilling to admit to it
I pray…Dear God…Can you hear me?
