Best Gamble Poems
They say love is a gamble but that can't be true. Because I wasn't gambling when I found you. I wasn't looking for love, my heart was cold. If I did have a hand, my hand I would fold. Why take a chance on something so rare? It's a game, it's a gamble, and it just isn't fair. But neither is life and what's life without love? It's no life for me so I look up above. As I pray for some help in this game I can't win. I push the button, my chance starts to spin. Just when I think my luck has ran out, I run into you and lose all doubt. So if love is a gamble, then grab the dice. No matter the cost, I'll pay it twice. I'll give you my chips, my tokens and more. I'll give you my love, it's you I adore. So if love is a gamble, then gamble you must. It's all or nothing, it's all or bust.
The reason why I gamble,
I ought to tell the truth.
Those squalid tales I spun before…
Well, don’t go seeking proof.
The one about the heart op
And my desperate plight for cash -
A pack of lies, I’m fit and well
(Except a little rash).
And then there was the other one
About my mental health
And descent into depression
And the quest for joy through wealth.
And when you saw me on the street
In front of the casino,
I wept and cried ‘I have no friends,
So where else can I go.
I haven’t tasted human warmth
For such a countless while,
At least when dealing out the cards
The croupier gives a smile.’
And when you looked concerned
I said ‘Don’t fret, it’s human weakness.
But I’ve joined a local church
And hope to find a cure through Jesus.’
Then soon as you were out of sight
I dodged into the bookies
And put a tenner on a nag
(You’ll think The Devil took me).
And when this news got back to you
You started that campaign
To ‘Save Our Al’ from brimstone wrath
And flaming pitchfork pain.
And when the cash came rolling in
You gave it to my Mum,
And told her it was for
The welfare of her troubled son.
Now she was pretty mystified
And thought you were deranged.
She used the cash to buy a car
And just gave me the change.
But with all your selfless efforts,
I feel a little mean.
It’s time to set the record straight.
I’m ready to come clean.
You see.
The reason that I gamble,
There’s no tragic tale of sin.
The reason that I gamble:
It’s because I always win.
Of yesterdays……I have pocketed plenty.
Of tomorrows, will I perchance, have any ?
Young couples every day
Falling in love
Casting their dice
Hoping for the best
Vying for true love
Trusting their hunch
In the love lottery
Crossing their fingers
Hanging a rabbit foot
Throw it all on a gamble
Never crossing their mind
To have the conversation
And ask what’s meaningful
What’s important to you?
What do you believe in?
What do you want from life?

Rife with abstractions, and still just listening;
Leaning on pages, the night keeps glistening.
Ripping at seams, no intentions of fixing
As leaks spring up in the darkness of evening.
--
Hollowed-out souls fill the depths of this bet,
And mausoleums hold the ones straggling yet.
We're fighting ourselves over people we've met
Just to make up the ground in relieving the debt.
--
Knife with distractions, and I've stopped listening;
Meaning enrages; The light drips, glistening.
Slipping the reams, no ideas for fixing
The problems arisen on this summer evening.
THE GAMBLE
Of all the men who gambled there on the hill that day,
I felt I’d be the winner when I began to play.
And sure enough, it happened! I shouted out for glee
When all the lots were cast there, the winner had been me.
I picked the prized possession there from the rocky ground,
But as I looked there at it, and as I looked around,
I realized who had had it, I saw it stained in red
From all the cruel whipping of the man who wore it bled.
My mind should have been callused--we’d done this times before--
But what I’d seen that morning I just could not ignore.
No other man had suffered the way he had that day
And through the awful torture could still cry out and say,
“Oh, Father, please forgive them, they know not what they do,”
Those words he had there spoken were something strange and new.
“What had I done?” I wondered. I’d listened to the crowd
As for his blood they shouted with angry voices loud.
And as a Roman soldier, I only did obey
Commands that I was given to beat him on that day.
Now as I held that garment I had won fair and square,
I felt so deeply guilty for how he suffered there.
There surely must be something that’s different in this one;
He said he was Messiah, God’s only begotten Son.
He never cried for mercy through all that awful trial
While we beat and abused him with words so cruel and vile.
I sensed somehow he’d done this for people just like me,
And though his body’s bleeding, his love for me I see.
That day I took a gamble, I’d won his garment red,
But as I sobbed in sorrow, I trusted Him instead.
I took that precious garment and hugged it to my breast,
And said, “I thank You, Jesus, for giving me Your best.”
Life's a gamble, you gon' take that chance?
Damn right, I'm 'bout cash, you know what fills my pants
That charge carry life, you gon' stay on ya' grind?
Hell yeah, you already know, money's on my mind
What if the police watching, you gon' stand on that corna'?
Hell nah, I'll be ducked-off, I ain't a slow learner
What ya' gon' do, play cards or roll dice
Life's short, move fast, don't think twice
Life's a gamble, don't go broke, hit the jackpot
Stay solo, running in packs get ya' tied-up...knot
Got a few loyal soldiers, lots of phonies and fakes
The game's like a cave, filled with rats and snakes
There's too many hustles to be sitting 'round broke
Call me, like a manager, I got work
Gotta' take chances in life, nothing's guaranteed
Would you go get it, even if you had to bleed?
Mind over matter, but what matter's on my mind
Not a pro-skater, but I stay on my grind
Try 'n' take mines, best believe you gettin' hit
Bring ya' crew, and my choppa'll serve a banana split
By any means necessary...that's my motto
I wouldn't change my life, even if I hit the lotto
Life is full of chances
But the number is not known,
Careful steps and sideward glances
Voice our fear of the unknown.
You've never played this game before
You do not know the rules,
Ant through each hand you’ll learn to name
The aces and the fools.
So when you reach the road that split
And grapple with your doubting mind,
You roll the dice of guess and wit
And gamble with the wind.
Life is full of choices
But the answers have been blurred
And the world, the world of voices,
They will echo to be heard.
The sky is never clear to see
Beyond each menial task,
And so allusive destiny
Approach you with a mask.
So when you've drawn your lot, advice
And once more, unsure, glance behind,
You take a breath and roll the dice
You gamble with the wind.
This table had been worn with scars
Its players left behind,
Where gamblers gambled through the years
The gamble of the wind.
So think before you cast the dice
And blindly draw the blind’s advice
For there will be a price.
Before you listen to the voice
And take the chance and make the choice,
Before you guess you have to see
Your bet is your eternity
So think before your name is signed,
Before you gamble, gamble, gamble, gamble
Gamble with the wind.
I'm a math wiz', I can solve a problem
You just point 'em out and I got 'em
When it comes to beef, I'm like a butcher
Chop you in pieces, that's what you call torture
Like photon; electron, I'm far from positive
Lay traps for my enemies and get creative
Talk is cheap, you could check my rap sheet
I'm all over the turf, like a football player's cleat
I got more birds than a pet store
Move around, more than a Rapper on tour
Sell a lot of things, major distribution
I run more blocks than a Correctional institution
Not a body builder, but I move a lot of weight
Been doing this for years, these haters' kinda' late
Feds come, like a bird in winter, time to migrate
Fresh in another State, I can start with a clean slate
It is a gamble
Till you try it that’s when you be acquainted with it
Life is a risk full of opportunities
Its either you dig up or you overlook
You succeed or mislay
You never know Rome till you reach it
For numerous ways leads to it
SO, If the Ace fails take the Joker
It is not a compromise but a substitution
Hence life is a gamble its either you lose or win
But bait for the best, if you loose
Endeavor again next time
Never relinquish

Today I got my first ticket ever
Have I played before? Never!
But I just took this chance
(With a five dollar expense)
And found I was off by a number!
Just call me Mr. Ruffle,
Because I'm stacking my chips,
One more roll of the dice,
One more lick of your lips,
Just call me Mr. Lucky,
Because I'm supposedly clever,
One more flip of that card,
One more pull of that lever,
Just call me Mr. Broke,
Because I took that last chance,
One more failed attempt,
One more empty pocketed pants.

There's only so much joy this guy can handle
It soon overcomes me and life gets all scrambled
They say we're entitled
To happiness unrivaled
But we shouldn't get cocky, life's still a big gamble

Let's gamble on love
I'll throw in all my heart; if you promise me I ain't dicing on a game of hurts
Throw in anything you want, from selfishness to lust
Watch my heart beat off my shirt
Watch me sweat out my trust in you
Laugh if you want babe; for fear is funny when it's not yours to feel.
When the dice finally settle and you win, you can have all my heart and use it anyway you want
If it settles on me, you can have all you bet with no loses;
But what I need is all your heart on another game; my game, my rules, my play, and that's a game called 'sacrifice.'
Do we have a deal?

"Hit me!" it's blackjack all day long
In a dingy zoo type sing-a-long
and since you can never eat just one
It seems those chips have all but gone!
Bluffing there like a daft giraffe
Just because you stuck your neck out
Still showed your true spots, no doubt
So switch it up to Texas holdem
get the laundry done and fold em'!
Or all in now and say you told em'
If you win don't brag too hard
Don't shove it in their face card
Or from this game you might be barred
And then I guess all you can do
Is sing in your cage until game two
In your pen or where chips are piled
I'd say in both cases, deuces are wild...
