Premium Member Contests and Lists - My Favourite Things Not

I pick up my notepad and find a sharp pencil
(Hope any comments won’t be too detrimental)

I scan the contest themes and hope I’m inspired
I’ll enter an old poem if I’m just too darn tired

I post my ‘best effort’ and hope that I win …
Yet ANOTHER N/A so I start hitting the gin!

With tears in my eyes I soup mail all my friends
There’ll be a ‘screwed contest’, will that pay dividends?

I finish the bottle, then scan the 'best new poems list'
My poem’s ‘pisadeered’, how my eyes start to mist

My masterpiece isn’t there - where has it gone?
It’s been cast into the realms of total oblivion

My eyes are now closing, I’m too sozzled to write
It’s well after midnight so I’ll bid you goodnight ....

I wake in the morning, dash to check all the lists ...
but with all the moaning on blogs… they no longer exist!

I saw you across the room
You were with my best friend
Dancing to a slow song -Harvest Moon
You held her tightly in your arms
Then planted a passionate kiss
Oh Its My Party and i will cry if I want to
Cry if I want to and I did

I was deeply hurt and shocked
If You Could Read My Mind
You would know my hurtful thoughts
Oh my heart aches so badly
So your friend came up to me
He spoke calmly softly
He called me Blue Angel
Said he would never leave me
Feelings he had for me was strongBlue Bayyou

Strong feelings for me
He said "Together we would go
to the BlueBayou where the
sailboats go a float int Blue Bayou

Favourite Scriptures, Two Of

Genesis 0:0
'Before the beginning, God saw that the expanse was vast,
and in its vastness it was empty and still,
and it saddened him, and bored him a little, too.
And before the first day, thus spake He:
"I'll scribe a great tome, a thousand pages and more !" '

And he fulfilled his pledge
and scribed a great tome, a thousand pages and more.
And many great things were painfully matched
with much great wickedness and iniquity,
for God decreed that His Word make man and woman.
Thus was His Word soon devoured.
For the mighty man wielded His Word as a sword,
and the greedy man sold it to the poor;
the depraved man bent it to his most hateful will,
and the foolish man gave way to them all.
Alas ! None learned aught of its author.

Revelation 23:1
'And God sat down to catch His breath,
for his tome of the ages was perverted by wicked men,
and the earth and heavens heaved with tumult.
And after the last day, thus spake He:
"I'm not too sure they got it." '

My Favourite Word

The first word there had to be - was BE, and that was the very first in existence
And from Genesis and Eden to Elsinore, it has had a remarkable degree of persistence

It seems that once BE had been exercised, the dam broke and words poured out as from a cornucopia.
And verbs would soon exist in an abundance enough to carry you from here to Ethiopia

Except in the culture of youth where it appears this multitude has been reduced to the deplorable "was like"
To them I am tempted to say: "Learn some real verbs"; OR I would employ a phrasal such as
 'On-your-bike!'

The possibilities are now endless particularly if you include the phrasal
Giving us enough elan vital to at least maintain a metabolism basal

So to whoever first said BE, whether God or someone with similar propensities
though another name or description:
I say Well done! I couldn't in my wildest dreams with a wish to create a rich life and culture,
have produced a better prescription

Her poetic mind is uncannily artistic,
She can make a long grocery list
Sound like an art of Shakespeare
and still forget the humble Pear!

With her talent she writes poems
She can express the emotions
We didn’t even know we had …
Like crying over a sock losing its pair.

Her goals are so lofty
Even the moon gets FOMO
When you talk about them...

I finally came to know how she
Writes the prize winning poems
With profound artistic acumen,
She probably interviews her pen
Before letting it touch the paper!

Keep on writing my beloved poet
Sure, one day you will be the greatest !

Premium Member My Favourite Flower

You have never given me a red rose,
for they are not my favourite flower.
Romantics give a rose when they propose,
on a secluded beach or at the Eiffel Tower.

I adore it when you buy me a spray of carnations,
in pastel shades of different colour and hue.
A surprise bouquet exceeds my expectations,
and it reminds me just how much I love you.

Premium Member My Favourite Song - Bridge Over Troubled Water

When I’ve had dark times in my life,
and need uplifting at times of strife
I listen to the words of this lovely song
and get comfort and aim to be strong

The path of life is winding not straight
Many troubles can be put down to fate
We need friends till our dying day
Who’ll be with us come what may

We all need good friends by our side
to dry sad tears, too many I’ve cried
They’ll be there any time that we need
Special friends to be cherished indeed!

Favourite Thoughts

blow me wind
o blow me away
To my favourite thoughts

dress in white satin
meet sweet jasmines
kiss red roses

white clouds
come alive
in their flapping tender wings

delicate drizzles
drop on my face
feel with
glittering loves

kiss me wind
o kiss me wild
ruffle my hairs
 till i tickle giggle

blow me wind
o blow me away
to meet my sweetest memory

when i drank his first
stupid words
said “ i love you”
in a quite beautiful nuance

blow me wind
o blow me away
weather wise
such a lovely day

My favourite thoughts
i worship and adore

Your Favourite Perfume

YOUR FAVOURITE PERFUME

I thought the yearning had ended
And I’d finally moved on.
The memories had faded,
In the months since you had gone.

Those dreams had been less frequent,
That disturbed my sleep at night.
Your photograph was in a drawer,
Kept safely out of sight.

But today, in the department store,
I was back there under your spell,
As I passed the perfume counter
And caught a whiff of Chanel.

I turned, expecting to see you there,
With your mass of golden hair,
Smiling the way you used to.
But, of course, there was no-one there.

I thought the yearning had ended
And I’d worked through all the pain.
But one whiff of your favourite perfume
Has brought it all back again.

Premium Member My Favourite Place To Rest

I smile at you but you can't see
My back is resting 'gainst your chest
Without this harness I'm so free
Your back's my favourite place to rest

You hold me up in your strong grip
My afro hair's tickling your face
I giggle when you sneeze, and slip
A kiss on your full lips, and trace

A finger along your stubbled jaw
Before I gaze in your brown eyes
Where all I needed I just saw:
A love so deep, without disguise.
