in a humble attempt- you navigate along my pages,

thoughts from the heart
~ just a little scribble ~
I know exactly how you feel.
Wow! Really?
Yes. It happened to me.
Everything that has ever happened to me has happened to you?
Yes.
Wow!
Did your front teeth get knocked out?
They came out.
By your stepfather?
No, but I know how it feels.
I know exactly how YOU feel.
Wow!
My life isn't exactly what I'd have wished for,
had I roused myself to wish.
I might have lived a life filled full,
puffed with particularity, and limited:
boundaried by Plymouths, VA loans, and bills from Dr. Bill.
I might then have shaped my mind to fit a space,
quite small, where largest loomed my daily cares.
I should then have been content
to hear the patter of small feet
upon cement of terrace, porch,
basement or garage, and to emit,
upon request, a well-designed barrage
of timely chatter, to complement the patter,
to pace the ticking of the clock.
But no...I cannot to such rhythms and designs
become resigned... must play the nomad
(and the bard) till play and I be ended,
low or high, and must try to know,
and yet not know, the great vague
How, the What, the Why...
This is a love
that is bitter as citrus
that leaves me burning coldly
bowed head, clenched fists
on a park bench
in the middle of winter
The people see
but they can't help it
they can't help me from falling
so they walk by with
shadows spinning
like spiderwebs in their
eyes
and their fingers
to their
lips
Don't touch her
they must say to their unruly children
Don't disturb her
or she might blow away
in a thousand starburst patterns
of skin
because I'm grieving
for a loss that has yet to find me
and I'm falling
as calmly and as irrevocably as a snowflake
rescinding into myself
into ash on the pavement
I can't save myself from this
dear
My fingers are too cold
to reach inside my chest anymore
I'm untouchable
I let my eyes burn into the sky
because somehow that's where I
expect him to be
but I'm always
always wrong
She capture my attention from far post.
I went and approached her, for I loved her so much,
at that moment I was shivering.
with her angelic voice she engaged in my topic and we had a conversation going.
well I guess she knew was she was after.
To me it felt like she already knew I was coming to get her.
Well she blessed and left me.
We took off and went to my room.
man we had a thing going.
Then I made a mistake and trusted her with my heart.
The next morning she was gone,
living my heart in pieces as she broke it silently.
seeking for attention, I Groused like a broken wheel but everybody seemed to care less.
at one moment I thought I was the one who was careless,
for you see, about her I only knew what she chose to tell me.
I first saw her on Monday morning,
only approached her on Friday night,
she left the next morning... so you see she was just a blessing that came into my life for exactly five days...
I want to marry you
My love for you is true
Me make you say "Yes I do"
I want to say it too
Because I love you true
Ours be forever new
Ever fresh like morning dew
I have a house for you
I have saved money and happiness for you
I have strength and good health for you
I have everything, I lack nothing to marry you
Today to the end of our time I count on you
So much I have done and will still do for you
Because I love you true
I want to marry you
Say "Yes we do"
In health and wealth
In death and breath
Whether kenya or Canaan
None can separate us
We never fall victims of getting worse
We stick as one whether on foot, by bus or our own cars
We become a galaxy of two like the stars
We shine and never outshine ours
We live to love
Pettiness we rise above
Ourselves alone we serve
You get what I mean?
That with another we are never seen...
We be just two the way we have been
To us cheating remains green
You get what I mean?
That on my/your shoulder only we lean
That on this we never lose, we just win
Win, win and win that is all I mean
I mean I love you
I mean it is very true
I mean I must marry you
To be brief It is you
In exactly 40 lines of you
HORRID HARMONY
She’s a horrible lady who does horrible things
But man, the lady sings
She’ll bend a note while you lend an ear
And her falsetto is something you really must hear
She’s an insolent woman with wicked ways
She wants to be worshipped but never prays
Yet she makes every song seem a lullaby
Until her finale begins to make you cry
The refrain didn’t cause too much pain
But on her sheet music there’s an indelible stain
She’ll sing a love song and make you think it’s especially for you
But I know men who’ll attest to the fact that she sang it to more than a few
It’s not so much in her isolating eyes
It’s not so much that she’s so very wise
It’s not so much a future of her dalliances and flings
Because I’m telling you men there’s no escaping her once the horrid lady sings

What Exactly is Christmas?
By: Caroline Knudsen
Christmas isn’t just about the presents you receive and the food.
It’s not based on all the cute decorations.
It’s more than that.
Christmas is about the birth of Christ.
The joy and love that spreads throughout the communities everywhere.
The giving; the wishes granted. The happiness people encounter.
Some people may wonder why people are so cordial and magnanimous around this time of year.
I will tell you this.
One person begins to go spreading good cheer.
And the best way to do that is singing loud for all to hear.
And soon those people begin spreading and spreading and spreading.
Once people get in the spirit people give people love, people celebrate.
So during Christmas time, we go around spreading good cheer,
so people can begin to give, to love, and to celebrate.
We all know that there are many people who are less fortunate.
People who cannot afford gifts or a tree.
Not even a home.
But during Christmas time, people realize it’s time to reach out.
To grab a hand, to grant a wish.
There are many organizations like Operation Christmas Child, Toys for Tots, Sugarplum Trees.
All of those corporations help do that.
Help grant a wish.
So during Christmas time, we decide to give, to care for someone who needs it.
In a little town called Bethlehem, a young Virgin named Mary came to give birth to her child.
But her child was not just any new creation.
She was going to give birth to Jesus the Messiah.
Not one room was empty on that night, but just a small barn.
And soon that night, she gave birth to our Savior in a manger. Something cattle ate from, our Savior was laid upon. So on Christmas day we celebrate Jesus’s birth.
So I hope by now you have learned that Christmas isn’t just about the presents you receive or the food.
It’s not based on all the cute decorations.
It’s more than that.
Christmas is about the birth of Christ.
The joy and love that spreads throughout the communities everywhere.
The giving, the wishes granted. The happiness people encounter.

Witchy, with a big fat wart
so horrid not a man would court.
She could have shed it with a spell,
so handsome men would ring her bell.
But Witchy's not the sharpest tool.
In conjuring, she was the fool.
A spell to be craved and adored.
She giggled as her magic poured.
Now she sits upon a log.
Just a big old slimy frog.
Toads adore her big fat wart.
Droves of them hop by to court.
Handsome men, her legs do crave;
fried in a pan or microwaved!
Staring out the kitchen window,
I watch as two butterflies flit between
the flowers, their colors are brilliant
reflecting the morning sun creating a soft
pastel glow as I sip my first
cup of coffee of the day
You are still asleep as I let
my mind wander to the plans we have
made for today, our special spot at the lake,
a picnic lunch under the shade of the
old maple tree I carved our initials in long ago,
I even bought your favorite wine
Driving to our destination, you singing along
with the radio, the wind blowing through
your dark brown hair,
that beautiful smile enchanting
me at every turn as I fall in love again
a thousand times over
We’ll relax allowing the day
to pass by slowly,
finding shapes in the fluffy clouds,
skipping stones on the clear water,
spending the hours sharing
all of the beauty nature has to offer
A more perfect day I can not envision, as you
sneak up behind me and putting your arms
around my waist, kiss me on neck then whisper in my ear,
“I want you, can we just stay home today and play?”
As I turn to face you I answer wearing a huge smile…
“That’s exactly what I was thinking”

What might I be
If I know not who I am?
If I am who I think I am,
I am not who I believe
Myself to be, therefore
Not knowing who I am,
What might I be?
Reread and perhaps
There is comprehension,
But even the conclusion
Is submerged in murky
Water, anchored by
The burdens, problems
Of my past. Well.
Release the anchor
And be free of the
Addictions, afflictions.
Indeed, nothing truer can
Be spoken, but speech
Is notoriously easier
Than the action. I
Beg for help, I break the
Rules of poetic flow
With enjambments and
Non-rhyming words to
Be noticed by a person
Of sorts, perhaps, so
I can be made known
What I might be. I have
Given up on the metaphors
Of what my current
State is. This is a plea
That someone beyond
The fourth wall will
Will see there is a fifth
And sixth wall, for the
Ceiling and the floor,
Two polarized afterlives,
Separated by the
Incorrigible hatred of
Magnetism—a bridging
Point is needed, that I
May discover someone
Across the fourth wall,
In the ceiling, for I am
Below the floor, yet I
Still live. I beg for help.
I want to know who I am,
And what I am supposed
To be. Whether I may be
Permitted to love, or to
Find love; whether I may
Be wrong in everything—
Should I be, I am sorry
To all and wish to make
Amends. So I ask once
More, what might I be
If I know not who I am?
What might poetry be,
If it is not written as such?
Pardon me. But notice
The humbleness over my
Pride and take heed.
I am a man who does not
Know what I am to know.
one day We all must face
the ghosts of who we thought we were
back then, back when
we were younger, but we were stronger
We've grown weaker with our age
Souls worn down by passing days
Images of youthful eyes
flash across my dreaming mind
Innocence and openness
A state of grace i've grown to miss
Open doors all closing now
lights and shadows crashing down
Another breath has gone to dust
Another year has turned to rust
Let's find our place in dusk and dawn
Take heart in the loss that is who we are
It's so much fun for me to see
How happy you are with him
An unexplainable joy that you find
In each other's presence
You've both fallen in love with the other
How amazing is it to just be with him
You must get butterflies in your stomach
Your skin goes cold and you find it hard to breathe
Of course you must feel inside
Your pulse racing your blood rushing
Your heart about to burst with love
It must be hard to describe how you feel
Because it's so amazing
He's so cute and you've always dreamed of this
Being by his side and called his girlfriend
You could die from happiness
And you know if you saw him with anyone else
You'd feel sick to your stomach
You'd feel shaky all over again
You'd feel like screaming and dying
You'd hurt so unimaginably crushed
It would be impossible to feel again
Can you think of what it would feel like
To know he belonged to someone else
It's a terrible feeling
Like the death of a loved one
But you see him every day
It would hurt bad wouldn't it
But guess what, do you know
That's exactly how I feel?
