Just which one makes you saddest mate
When you must disappoint a friend
Or when they’ve disappointed you?
I’ve pondered this a lot of late
As more and more friends meet their fate.
I shouldn’t blame them but I do,
Though not one chose to have life end
It’s like I’m stood up for a date.

I feel increasingly left out,
Bereft to know why they’re not here,
A mystery, how best to grieve!
Somehow all friendship’s now in doubt,
Like all my charm has lost its clout
I wear my sadness on my sleeve.
Confusion clouds the atmosphere
My GPS dead on my route.

Not right perhaps to feel such shame,
Their deaths as stain upon my life
However much I feel it’s true.
I still have poetry’s acclaim
Still feel the passion of its flame,
The promised bliss of friends quite new,
My loving muse a faithful wife,
With paradoxes still to tame.

And what of friends though still alive
That let time pass without contact?
So easy to pick up the phone,
To rescue love from its nosedive
And lapsing synapses revive,
Is it my job function alone
To keep shared memories intact?
Do they not care that I survive?

How many wait for other’s call
To prove that they themselves exist,
Some miracle to prove God’s real,
Reliance placed on fashion’s mall,
Consumption now man’s all in all,
Our value we would rather steal,
Than substitutes for love resist?
And thus with Absalom we crawl.

How strong the Love that we ignore
In gentle grace or servant’s smile?
God give us strength to seek His rest
Avoiding fate of dinosaur.
God’s Love’s the one we should adore,
His Law the Guide that serves us best,
Humility toward extra mile,
The Wave that washes us ashore.

Premium Member So Disappointing

So Disappointing!

If I disappoint you, don't you disappoint too?
And this even on nights when we both 'whoop-de-doo? '
Just like Adam, like Eve, the first verse of a song
Where words say, one ‘came early, ' or one ‘went too long.'

A formidable task now just pleasing myself,
And the pills that bring joy, you can't buy on a shelf,
Disappointment it seems is our national Flag
That the right wing cuts up and now use as a rag

In an outhouse, no plumbing, for water's short too!
All political wisdom lines floor in a zoo
Where extinct orange topped dodo grabs m**f, if it's frail,
And then claims virgin birth from the butt of a whale!

Moby-Dick? (1) Nah-he's spawn, if the 'final' (2) truth's told,
And his criminal culture, who's bought and who's sold
Is like sand on a beach from a 'Jurassic Park, '
Sad, SOLE ride, "Ship of Fools!" not humility's Ark!

Do you think that he cares if you die the next flood?
You'll be walking a plank if he learns you're not blood!
I've heard poison is best when all truth lies in jest,
And this whale of a whopper flies home to its nest!

Poet’s Notes:
(1) Everyone knows that ‘Moby Dick’ is a white whale and
that a ‘whale’ is a stupid rich man (who likely inherited, did
not earn his wealth)! A rhetorical question - is 'moby' a slang
word that means 'tiny' or 'heartless?'
(2) Yet another "Final Solution!"

This poem is definitely not a poem about the world we inhabit!
Have you tried any of Trump's delicious Kool-Aid yet?

Disappointing Pain

Here alone, sitting at my desk thinking "why?"
After all the things we went through, yet you still did it
Knowing the pain, anger and disappointment it would bring me
You the last person I thought, who'd do such a thing
I knew this day would come ...but not so soon, I fear that one day I'll be a memory
I know that your actions can't be undone, but the pain you've brought me cant be either
You say "I'm sorry", you say "I don't know how it happened" but we clearly know how it happened
I'm sorry that things didn't go the way you planned
That just because He was nice to you, you gave something up for that worthless scumbag
But in the end my words, my advice, and my warnings didn't get to you
In the end, you stabbed my hope, my patience's,and the one truly important thing my friendship with you
I hope that you understand that I don't hate you, and that I won't stop loving you as a friend
But the mistake you made has wounded me far to heavily, and I ask myself again sitting at my desk "Why did you do such a stupid thing!"
Tears streaming down, crying for you
I guess, in the end I was the pathetic one, deep down knowing this would happen
Denying myself from the truth that was meant to happen
You won Tony, I was just a mere lonely loser who fell in the trap
I hope your not to angry, when I start to disappear from your life, because hey, making love is something everyone has to do right?, just not screwing yourself over at a young age
As your last friend, I just wanted what was best for you, but I'm not your mother or anything
I'm just the person who was blurred out of the picture when you committed the mistake you made that pain striking wounded right through me
I wish the best for you and Him, because I'll be a faded highschool memory

Disappointing Setback

Six long months they worked
sixteen bright and eager minds
planned our art event.

Artists looked ahead,
painting, framing their great works
for our yearly show.

Then the day arrived;
charcoal, moisture-laden clouds
shed their dreaded tears.

Bullhorn blared the words
heard with sad and heavy hearts...
"cancel the art show."

Artists packed their gems—
lonely display fences stood
naked in the fog.

Work of six months straight
quashed by nature's fickle whim
to spoil our event.

The Most Disappointing

You know I love you
But you’ve made so many mistakes
Broken so many promises
Made me cry so many hours
And I can’t take it anymore
For years I’ve kept this in
Just beneath my skin
Building up the courage
To take you down
To tell you how you made me feel
But then I’d see you
How could I be mad at that face?
The big brother I always wished I had
But I’m done letting this go
So I’ll give you a little taste
Of what’s been keeping me up at night

I find it extraordinary
That I’m just barely secondary
To everything else in your life
You put this weight on me
That I know I’ll have to carry
Making me so weary
I feel like Atlas
My god damn back is breaking
All you’re ever doing is taking
And I’m shaking
From the rage I feel
How dare you treat me this way!
You can’t even bother
To stop for a moment
Passing me on the street
To make chit chat
Ask me how my day is going

And I am very aware
That you don’t care
You never wanted to share
So you don’t know the burdens that I bare
You’ve just never been there
And when I had that scare
You didn’t even show
You’d think a “brother” would know
So I let this anger grow
And now it’s ready to blow
When my life was derailed
I gave you the test and you failed
This ship has sailed
I’d tell you not to talk to me
But you don’t even check your email
Never taking my calls
Never writing me back
But guess what?
I don’t need you anymore
I was weak
But now I’m strong
I can’t believe I defended you for this long
Now I can see that I was wrong
Trying to convince myself that you loved me too
I let myself believe that I was defective
Or something
It wasn’t you, it was me
But now I see you for who you are
You’re so emotionally crippled
That you could never live up to my expectations
And I guess I can’t blame you for that

But I also can’t help how I feel
Like it’s just not fair
My whole life I waited for you
Waited for someone to be over-protective
Whose shoulder I could cry on
Who would cover for me, defend me
At least take a ****ing interest in my life
And out of all the disappointments
You are the most disappointing of all
I know you said you would step up
Even though all you do is screw up

But you know the sickest part out of all of it?
Is that when you tell me, “I love you Chess,”
I can’t help but forgive you
Because I still love you, no matter how much I hate you.

Disappointing Year For Flowers

It was a disappointing year for flowers
seeds were planted in the Spring,
I was hoping for lots of colour
assorted lilies, calendulas and everything.

Beetles ate my assorted lilies
caterpillars attacked the apple trees,
my heart was breaking in two
when there was nothing sweet for the bees.

I hope next year will be better
my assorted lilies, I'd love to smell,
see more apples grow on the trees
who knows? Only God can tell.

I planted many different flower seeds this year and it was truly disappointing when I ended up having a lot less than a quarter of flowers pop from the seeds I planted. I planted double marigolds and they all went right to seed during the Summer.

Premium Member Disappointing Novel

At the beginning of this novel I had no idea
The hero would betray the heroine,
That is not my favorite plot,
matter of fact, it is now my least favorite.

The cover and the synopsis were fastidiously written.
Neither gave this away. I had no idea it was happening.
Two thirds of the way through I think the author thought
Damn! This has to end somehow, but how?

The next time I see this author’s name I will not
take any trouble to buy her book, as a matter of fact,
I will boycott it, thanks to this catastrophe.
Wait a second. She is turning things around again.
More later, I only have two chapters left to go.

Unsmart Metre

I’ll apologise here at the start
For this verse won’t appeal to your heart.
So banal, it’s a shame
But I’ll shoulder the blame
’Cos it's not rude, nor funny, nor smart!

Premium Member Disappointing Dirt

Defiant are shards of dirt which particle apart
Never to know their neighbouring flakes,
Not integrating, no squish of accompanyment
Forlorn separates which support not life, nothing

Beneath rangy weeds, breeze blows loose granules
Shifted without resistance,
foreign adjacent land is theirs temporarily
Only for necessity, proximity is parallel, merge free

Neediness discarded, only Heaven can help dead dirt
Because the moments spent observing a scrappy tree
Beside withering leaves has hard expanding pears
Held by delving stem, fed, assisted, nutrient found

Show me expired soil needs nourishment
Requires deeply dug roots, intrusion, rooster boost
Sand blown syndrome suppresses realisation
Instinct drives attempt to be cleansed and extend

              23rd January
             This dirt hurts

A Disappointing Sale

Used to sell cars, it was a few years back.
I sported a tie, white shirt, and of course dress slacks.
It's good to know what's on the showroom floor.
Answer a customers question wrongly, they'll race to the door.
Knowledge is key, with a ton more of tact.
Lying sometimes, yeah, I've done it, that's fact.
Agreeing upon numbers, pen pointing to bottom line.
All that matters, is you get them to sign.
A hard fought sale, numbers juggled a bunch.
This guy got a deal, that's my salesman's hunch.
Delivery's been made, car rolls off the lot.
Will my commission be high, yeah right...probably not.

Those good old days

Regard " Those Good Old Days?'
Bring smiles in own ways,
Writing a book, Any Excuse,
Need my GSOH a'loose.
Went to football in past stage,
Good book, turn each page,
"The umpire's a cheat!"
"Yep, our goals incomplete!"
"Game plan's still the same!"
"Yes, our coach is to blame!"
"Let's go home!"
"Yeah, home we'll roam!"
"Leaving already?" Crowd roar,
"Spit the dummy, game's a bore!"
"See you next week!"
"At next game we'll peek,
Smiling now, I hit the sack,
Ignore football, top lifehack,
Well, that was a long book,
"Those Good Old Days, worth a sook!

The Disappointing Dream Man

I come into existence
With memories of you
As I un-exist to become a time of rest
I lapse to forget your warmth too

I favour pleasant midnight
With the sugar-sweet night scent
I’m so unhappy I breathe uneasy
So I search for a vent

You’re my quest
Immovable love that must be found
Illusion of love is not enough
By your unknown love I am bound

I have not yet met you
Because you exist in my dreams
Immune to existence
Or only mine it seems

I require your presence
As an escape from reality
You’re my only vent
Only you can free me

So to discover you one more time
I need to seize un-existence
I need to inhale sweet night ecstasy
And forget your previous resistance

It’s hard to sleep
When all I think of is love
So the doorbell awakes me
With the sound of a dove

I close my eyes
And count to seven
Un-imaginable belief
I’m going to heaven

I’m walking with the King
But unsure of his arrival
Disappointed, I asked him why he’d come
Hoping for longer survival

He thanked me for my prayers
And told me not to be sad
That I shouldn’t worry
His love I always had

My search for a distant dream was my end
Even though I’d found love for which I’d begged
I thought it would be in realities bend
This ecstasy caused my unsatisfied death

Cutting the Deck

Star filled sky
Alive, energy, vibrating night
Enriching sound of the waves
Feeling the wind on a voyage to another world
Listening to the hottest DJs spinning
Top dynamics of music
I strolled up to deck for a little dancing
Hoping for a little love
Showing off dexterous, super-spreader swing moves
Picking a few Dark and Stormy at the bar
Happy with the harmony
Feeling the rhythm like prince charming
Wanting to accommodate one
Connect on the dance floor
Midst a group of attractive,
Very desirable, crazy ladies
Like a beast killing the tempo moves
Ladies dissipated
Disappointed
          Ignored
Out of breath with sweat streaming down my face
Nimble-fingered, clumsy
          Knocked out
Flew over the deck rail into the cold
Woke up on a tropical island
Perplexed, no memory decided to stay
