Premium Member This Buds For You

-This buds for you!-
-It takes one to know one!-
-I know you are, but what am I?-

A second hand, on my stopwatch, going nowhere!
You are a joker, a smoker, a midnight stroker
<-------How, about that, Steve Miller song

I'm not here to talk about the way you comment a poem
That's not how I roll, now listen, and listen well,

I don't care, about them words you speak
A whining sheep, every time you don't score
Crying behind close doors,
Boo-Who, I did not place high in so-and-so's contest
Gosh&dammit, not everyone's on a quest
Blogging, about the day, your poem got demoted to nonsense
Trying to comment relentlessly,
You can't top, a mountain that has no setup

I'd rather leave a copy paste comment,
"than being fake as fake can be"
At least, my copy paste was a song,
in which welcome the new poets on
Treating, everyone with love and security
Your invites, are cold and force, to you it's not about community
No motion, to your notion, simple, and disgusting

I don't know why you think, we are competing,
Long ago, I left you bleeding, no reason to be defeating
Your paranoia, has you thinking, it's all about the points,
It's getting old and boring,
You cry babies are nothing more than jokes and hypocrites
Hey you, this ain't dominoes, we done pass every Jo-Jo
When, I have time I sit here for fun, my trigger finger on the gun

Reading, commenting, until my day is done
You think, because someone, left a copy paste
That your poem was not read,
Perhaps, it was not understood, or enjoyed
Or, a welcome to the neighborhood
A nice smile, from me to you
Nice poem, You Rock!
So What! ---- WOW!

This Bud's for you
I think it's time for you to GET A LIFE!
Be glad someone took their time, in checking you out twice
Not, everyone on this site, is full of bull-****
The smallest words, are more likely to be legit
I don't need and expensive comment,
I don't want to impress, when it comes to the best comment
Please do not make love to my poem!

A nice pat on my back will do,
Now that my friend, puts a smile on my face
To know you care, to know you were there:)

Peace Out,

Shock To the System

When the majority is accustomed to having their say,
it's a shock to the system when it's no longer that way
Dwindling numbers has turned the majority into the minority
Welcome to my world,
where having your voice heard is an exercise in futility
Go grab a megaphone,
or dial some digits
See if you catch your congressman or woman
and tell them something's horribly wrong
The deal is this:
You were the majority,
now you're the minority
The numbers tell the story,
and numbers never lie
I know it's a shock to the system:
Either rage against the machine,
or sit at home and quietly cry
You found a nice piece of real estate,
and were the prime time share owners for a long time
Deal with it,
a new group has come in,
and their numbers are not on the decline
It has to be a shock to the system,
has you feeling like you're Frankenstein
911 is the number you call,
when you think you've witnessed a monstrous crime
Welcome to my world,
being a minority ain't all bad
But if you're use to being number one:
it's a shock to the system,
when you've been demoted to second class

Once again
“Man”
Fails

A faulty miscarriage of stanzas and exhaled anomalies,
“Man” withers
Unto a Shakespearean passing

“Man” testifies
Verbal precedence above cedar scented opinions
While providing expired empathy to their disfigured reflection

Oh, how their insolent pride glimmers
Similar to Cubic Zirconium weddings

Oh, how their “manhood”
Falsely supplicates
For even “thicker” pride

Another daftly implored lie

“Man” inhales pompous remorse,
Gripping rusted axe on toxicant bosom,
Declaring knighthood upon ignorant crowd

Another verse of celebrated memories,
Sabotaged

Because
“Man”
Remains glued to authoritative eras of yesterday,
With forcefully dimpled “smile”

Unable
To surgically remove equilibrium's paralysis

…

But, humanity shall resurrect
Against demoted seer

To declare that this tide of “man”
Does not
Belong here

Runaway Train

While others writers think of love
you’ve shat on that pure white dove.
Before on and on, I must go,
I’m telling others of what I know.

Love to ride the ‘Royal Scotsman,”
but this train I’m on is full of flotsam.
What I’m saying is so loaded with duress,
Its’ like riding the “Midnight Express!”

When you first pulled into my station,
this old heart was filled with elation.
At first things really went fine,
unscheduled love was always on time.

But love doesn’t run on a rigid time table,
I’m tossing you off while I’m still able.
I’m not one to be keeping score,
don’t catch your ass in the exit door.

First you changed from commuter to freight,
all the while saying “ain’t this great?”
Now I’m carrying a very heavy freight load,
my heart is chugging, ready to explode.

You always think you’re the lead conductor,
No wonder friends call you Hannibal Lucktor.
I’m tired of you always blowing your whistle,
you’re the pain in the ass you get from a thistle.

You were demoted from engineer to porter,
this really screwed up our manifest order.
Instead of your up front driving, which I loved,
ya put a foot in my ass n’ shoved.

Day n’ night your mouth goes Yakity Yak,
driving your hate spikes Klickety Klack.
Since I’m not the last one you let on board,
love’s driven down, now I am floored.

Folks would say our love’s a signal flop,
so I’m getting off before the flag stop.
And where would that next place be?
Where you try to totally, dominate me!

I know where the air brakes on this train are,
you’ve switched from sleeper to a baggage car.
You always lash out with such hysteria,
makes me think you’ve got diphtheria.

So I am punching your last ticket to ride,
Frankly, you can shove or stick it inside.
Before I lose the last of my brain,
you n’ yer baggage jump another runaway train.

* For Runaway train contest and no this certainly isn't about me. LOL

Pluto Slam It Planet

Pluto Slam It Planet

It was Aug. 26, 2006 in Prague
Some guys got together for grog
Astronomers by name, came for a game
To vote on the matters of science
Instead they gave Pluto its shame

To their blame they demoted the planet
It was out there as solid as granite
For millions of years it passed without fears
Or concerns about guys with their beers
Now science has banned it

With a vote of 183 yes 187 no no no
Planet Pluto must go
The Czech Republic thought they were thinkers
Allowing “Astronomers” in name, turned out to be drinkers
True, Pluto is tiny and slow as you know

Pluto is only charcoal and snow
Where will Charon, Hydra, Nix, P4, P5 moon companions go?
Are they merely a mirage of the planets pull
Outnumbered by astronomers, political fools?
In our solar system what ignorance grows

248 years to orbit our sun is far too slow for these men
Pluto! You’ll have to move faster or move out again
You can join our party in Prague....but then....
To be a member of our solar system, to justify your existence
You'll have to move quicker my friend....and be sober to that end

                                                                             Slam It Poetry Contest 5/3/14

Premium Member Nativity Play

(True story)

As nativity plays go, this one was a doozy
with plenty of chances to fail
and even after all the countless rehearsals
it did, on a Biblical scale.
My part, I was Joseph, and Barbara was Mary,
the Jesus doll wrapped in a sheet
three wise men in the wings with tea towels on their heads
plus trainers and pumps on their feet.
The donkey was resting, a little bizarre
since the creature was mounted on wheels
and in the light of the candles it's red plastic handle
just made the scene slightly surreal.
The stable was made from the school's Wendy house
for the play they used just two hinged walls
as the wise men came Joseph leaned back on one arm
and the whole structure started to fall.
The look from the prompt at the front of the stage
signified I was in real deep trouble
as the magi and shepherds all valiantly scrambled
to pull Mary from out of the rubble.
The infant child surfaced though held upside down
from the tangle of thatch straw and rafters
as his messenger Gabriel rolled on the floor
in a fit of hysterical laughter.
The following year I found I was demoted
as teacher didn't want to lose sleep
over what new disaster I'd find myself master
so I took the back row as a sheep.

The Black Cat

The sky is stark, the air is cool and still
The black cat’s run, the birds unfold all day
I sit down here and with my totty pray
Ye cast o’ foolish thoughts, you raped my will.
We’ve each enraged the bureaucratic mill.
Oh frigid purse, I never meant to pay!
The sky ‘s a-spark, the air is warm and shrill
The saturnine demoted knelled their way
With this feathered pounce, my sample quill,
I cite the cheque and date it for next May.
Oh, tit for cat, the tiger’s bed ‘s astray.
Yer life is settled by a harlot’s will
The sky ‘s a shark, the air is sharper still.

Premium Member Not Squared Away

Photo by US Navy WestPack Album—Gorelick 2nd top right

“Not Squared-Away”

Crawling and sliding through slimy debris
Knees scraped raw on the gritty hanger bay
We’re sailors on the carrier Coral Sea
Crossing the equator this bright April day

Our shellback ordeal-just good-natured hazing
A navy tradition; great nautical fun
Like pagons, it’s old King Neptune we’re praising
Great Zeus, let this filthy business be done!

Now shellbacks! We’ve made it unscathed, more or less
We toss our soiled clothes out to the ocean breeze
But I find myself in one hell of a mess
For I left my wallet in my dungarees!

Now drifting away is my navy ID
A grave offense if it’s lost or misplaced
It will no doubt be captain’s mast for me
Where I’ll be demoted! Denounced! Disgraced!

I stand at attention, rigid and straight
The captain shouts: You are not squared-away!
Sweating bullets, I ponder my dire fate
I’ll surely be thrown in the brig today

A lost ID at sea is close to a crime
A gross dereliction, stupid but rare
On just bread and water I will do my time
As I topple down the steps to despair

In solemn dread I now report to the chief
With a churning stomach and anguished mind
But now all fear lifts and I sigh in relief
As he snaps: Get to work; were falling behind

Tattarrattat- a Palindrome

Tattarrattat

…amazing how things change over time, from a simple knock at someone’s door, smoke signals, walking & serenading to the Pony Express, and now Cell Phones…what next, microchip implants?

Tattarrattat of sounds making universal calling to chitchat
Habitat denned of words hovering upon stagnate doormat
Dialling friends like Anna and Christine while vanity filing
Smiling Hannah throughout texts and hashtags reconciling

Taking selfies selfish as snapping shots peep after faking
Breaking stats texting thru speeding with fingers aching
Money making Facebook and Twitter toot sucking honey
Funny folks frolicking in wow of gibberish words chummy

Implanting microchiping radar loves of illusions enchanting
Ranting and deleveled amidst abysses of misunderstanding
Evaporating thoughts deified through fanatic futurists dating
Frustrating still mom and dad tired of escaping callwaiting.

...this may also be read backwards

1.Tattarrattat – the longest palindrome in the Oxford English Dictionary, coined by James Joyce in Ulysses for a knock on the door
2.denned – past tense of to den, meaning to live in a den
3.deleveled – past tense and past participle of "delevel", to demote or be demoted to a lower level.
4.deified – past tense of "to deify", meaning to consider as a god

...originally I was going to enter this in Joseph May's Palindrome contest...but at the last second, I noticed the theme was about the Seasons...dah!...hello Brian lol

A Palindrome is a word or phrase which reads the same backwards as forwards, such as level, or deed, or "never odd or even".

Broken Promises

Putting on my rings
my hand reached past the one
I was looking for to the ones
Pillowed softly in the back

I gently touched them
Then without emotion take them out
And slipped them on my finger

Memories went through my mind
Like a silent movie

The delight I had when you gave them to me
How hard I tried to think of every reason
to use my hands and show them off

The way I would twist them when I was nervous
The white band they made with a summer tan
And the day I took them off

I promised you forever
but I stole my promise back
somewhere in all those years
of pretending to be happy
My heart rusted from neglect

I determined that a person that enjoys his own misery
Learns to resent rainbows
Lonelier with you than I ever was alone
I selfishly chose my own happiness
and finally I have given up the guilt of
not being able to 'fix' it

What do you do with old wedding rings
Are they demoted to whatever monetary value
They may have

Are they tucked forever away
with the baby teeth and first shoes

Does the preciousness of the love they once
Symbolized have any value

Without emotion I pillowed them back into
The softness and closed the box

Possibly you broke some promises too

Pluto Downgraded

Note-- The Tulsa World Newspaper published my prose version of this in February
1999 and I wrote this version later.

Poor orphaned Pluto is out in gloom and frigid cold
Considered an outsider, his bitter sorrow unfolds
Demoted from planet status he had enjoyed for years.
He lost his brothers and sisters, amidst a flood of tears.

He will dearly miss them though thousands of miles apart.
All nine were family members with camaraderie at heart
For seventy years they claimed him as they circled round the sun
Now he’s no longer orbiting ethereal space in fun.

He asks, “Why do earthlings think they are so very smart?
You’d think they’d be aware of my spinning work of art
Just a trans-Neptunian Object with ice caps at my poles?
Astronomers will ponder when to outer space I stroll.”

Pluto

PLUTO

The name conjures up a lot
Dopey Disney dog extra to the plot
Forgotten one-time planet of the night
Not a Jupiter giant, gassy bright,
I’m just a small rocky ball
Nowhere near the sun at all
Cold enough to freeze the nose
Off Santa’s Rudolph as he glows
No regular orbit, just a path
Criss crossing others in a swath
So big around the sun
You’ll all be dead and gone
Before you see half my fly-by.
I can’t even be seen by
Anyone lacking a Hubblescope
But having only binoculars and hope;
And now demoted
No matter how long I’ve floated
In space. There are new planetessimals
Of sizes measured in decimals:
It’s like suddenly finding my father
Always had dozens of other sons, my brothers,
And my family status is reduced
By factors newly deduced
I feel unwanted, unrespected,
It’s not at all what I expected
................................................................................................................
NOTE A glance at your bedside astronomy almanac will show that
Pluto is no longer counted as “the ninth planet”. A large number
of similar lumps of rock are now known beyond Pluto.

Failure

I always scored well in exams
But fell ill in 10th grade
I was demoted by the mams
Out of shame I lived in shade

I felt ashamed sitting with juniors
There was lurking defeat n dejection
My buddies still were my seniors
All the time I cursed my luck and rejection

with once juniors ,I started working hard
I was rereading what I did sometimes back
Day n night I slogged for better report card
took extra classes, for in no subject I wanted to lack

Hope I will make it better this time
I'll not indulge in self pity ,failure is no crime.
