Shock To the System

When the majority is accustomed to having their say,
it's a shock to the system when it's no longer that way
Dwindling numbers has turned the majority into the minority
Welcome to my world,
where having your voice heard is an exercise in futility
Go grab a megaphone,
or dial some digits
See if you catch your congressman or woman
and tell them something's horribly wrong
The deal is this:
You were the majority,
now you're the minority
The numbers tell the story,
and numbers never lie
I know it's a shock to the system:
Either rage against the machine,
or sit at home and quietly cry
You found a nice piece of real estate,
and were the prime time share owners for a long time
Deal with it,
a new group has come in,
and their numbers are not on the decline
It has to be a shock to the system,
has you feeling like you're Frankenstein
911 is the number you call,
when you think you've witnessed a monstrous crime
Welcome to my world,
being a minority ain't all bad
But if you're use to being number one:
it's a shock to the system,
when you've been demoted to second class

Heh, yeah, I guess it is... Go grab a megaphone, stand on a box and yell, chain yourself to something, sit peacefully somewhere until... exactly.

I have a question that is out of place, but it puzzles me so much I just HAVE to ask this. Your poems, and all the comments on your poems, appear in bold on my PC. Is that a weird thing on my PC, or is it a setting you can turn on and off in Soup? I'm just curious :)

Think I'll sit at home and quietly cry! Haha, never been one to protest! It seems futile anyway! Great write my friend!

Ty, Alexis. Yeah, got that one out of my system. Being a minority, you tend to view things differently than the majority, that's all I'm saying. Then, when you become the minority, you get to walk in my shoes for a change. Love your comments. Ty for your loving support. Love and blessings to you.

Freddie, truth in your poetry is fun to read. Just enough humor in this too. Thanks for sharing :)

Ty, Heidi. I try to leaven the message w/a dash of humor. To show that I'm not mad at nobody, just a wry observer of reality. Love your comments always though. Love and peace to you.
