We are Nasty Women
When we hear haughtiness, we name it
When we see bullying, we blame it
We are Nasty Women
We do not daintily defer
For selfish whims of a saboteur
We will not walk three steps behind
We will not sheathe our sharpened minds
We are logic's clear eloquence
We are unyielding consequence
We are Nasty Women
We are out of many, one
We are the soldiers of every war
We are astronauts and commodores
We are the activists of plundered Earth
We are the executives who expect our worth
We are the advocates of facts, unsuppressed
As we walk the corridors of Congress
And we are far from done.

A five and a zero.
Numbers.
The big one creeping up,
Five...
Four three two one!
The countdown has begun
The race is on.
Big one creeping up so fast
I can hear the crack of the gun.
The big five... Oh
My mother didn't make it past.
I've been told that that's your big one,
Your own ceiling of glass;
That it creeps into your psyche,
Your parents to outlast.
I've been working for a while
To quit smoking before forty,
Success five years too late.
Five to go, the age that she was shortly.
Fifteen years six months eight days between us
Is as close as we ever got.
I don't need closer now,
I have a second shot;
I almost died with no idea what hit me,
A tragic but not sad how.
So to me it does occur
To slowly drown as your lungs fill
Is to fill a fate
I would much rather defer.

"If mama ain't happy, ain't nobody happy" One of my favorite quotes by a man named Ron Hall
If mama ain't happy, ain't nobody happy.
Tell that to each kid and his or her pappy.
Some moms can be weird, but think of all they do,
especially the pain they went through delivering you!
If mama ain't happy, ain't nobody happy..
So even when life might seem a bit crappy,
it's probably worse for your dear mama.
Don't whine and complain, causing more drama.
If mama ain't happy, ain't nobody happy.
Show your own mama that you can be zappy
by eagerly helping her. Be on your toes.
It won't kill you either to even brown-nose.
If mama ain't happy, ain't nobody happy.
On this Mother's Day be a bit sappy.
Respect her. Adore her. To her wisdom defer.
And do for your Mama what most pleases HER!

When air is still and dread silence suffocates
death violates esteemed sylvan sanctity—
whose jealous eye in malice deprecates,
absent demur, spurns all that ought to be.
Sussurus raised on gossamer wing;
rebuild the scaffold of life’s innocence.
Forever defer morbid harbinger’s ring,
proclaim sacred tales and stifle abeyance.
Compile sacred prayers we might ever utter;
inhale the waft of life’s incense redolent.
Disregard uncouth hordes that senselessly mutter;
encircle, condemn all the callously petulant.
And ever be heard wolves' melodious song;
endless the days their sweet harmonies prolong.

Sonnet
Somnolence of sweet dreams.
These are given to be most combustible or tranquil.
Taken them in midday and midnight flights.
These truly are a delicate delight.
Now, soaring adoring and affixed with inner might.
Mortals dream to release a dove or hawk tonight.
To be exercised is our inside plight.
We have been given grace, mercy and divine inspiration,
to surpass these extremities in life.
If, we do not defer hope, we are able
to elevate ourselves to greater heights.
We only being bound by Earth’s invisible
gravitational atmospheric rights.
I feel, I see, I live, and yet, still possible to die.
We have an ethereal essence;
ours is an entity of intrinsic light.
A spiritual immortality given us at birth with foresight.
Our future already written on invisible scrolls for us to recite.
There are angel allies traversing multiple dimensions
of time and space to unite.
Winged warriors warring and winning
a contested celestial battle and fight.
I do ride upon golden and platinum colored
feathered wings of a very large eagle this very night.
This to win the battle of the imagined Enkro land
most lethal of sites.
The morning time abruptly commence.
I realize that I had been dreaming, to be
awakened by the dawn's early bright rays
of the sun refreshing and renewing sunlight.

Shine on, Euterpe, cast your light.
We've not much time so please be brief.
"A simple answer brings relief
but careful thought will save you grief."
Focus, dear muse, for we must write,
shine on, Euterpe, cast your light.
"A hasty sonnet quickly flung
the next day finds that verse unsung.
Lay work aside when things feel wrong;
balance labor with time for song."
Shine on, Euterpe, cast your light,
I sense a notion taking flight?
"If while you toil, the words defer,
you hit a wall and stanzas blur
let music be your mind's chaffeur."
Shine on, Euterpe, cast your light.

Transcendent in that unparalleled
Attire!
I confess I cannot help but admire,
And always did,
What all other men should find very
Much
Irresistible in her;
It is as if,
With the merest uplifting of that
Proud and arrogant chin,
The outstretched hand, it's slightest
Touch,
She effortlessly could defer
The uncertain fate of whole nations.
Suddenly, at the corners of the
Mouth, that insidious little grin...
And I am left wondering, again, what
Now for these new deliberations?

There are things one must do in high society.
One must maintain appearances…and all that.
Know your manners.
Know your place setting.
Know your place.
Be social, congratulate profusely
and defer when appropriate.
There are things one must not do in polite company.
So escape expectations.
Run away at night.
Scratch up your feet.
Collect a few blisters.
Shiver and gasp
in a gleaming blue spring
of spring run-off.
Then run on.
Find old trees but respect not the elders.
Treat them as social ladders, and climb!
It’s lonely at the top, I’m told.
Nothing but a canopy of green.
Is it money? Jealousy?
Just leaves, perhaps…leaves? Leave?
OH! LEAVE!
Get your feet back on the ground
Where moon-cast puddles of light
lay dappled between dancing shadows.
Take in the dizzying ballroom.
Spin ‘til your head spins.
Sing if you want to…or better yet
SCREAM!!!!!
And scream again,
just to hear the world scream back:
"There are things one doesn’t do in polite company."
Screw it.
Run! Swim! Climb! Dance!
Scream until the world hears you!
Let them scream back. They surely will.
But there are things one must do,
In wild country.

WHEN LOVE TURNS TO HATE
They were once in love, but love’s turned to hate,
and Steve no longer resides at their house.
His wife had an affair with his best mate,
who then lived with Steve’s son and his ex-spouse.
Their divorce was bitter, her lawyers won;
she got the house, the car and their small child.
Steve’s granted access to see their young son
and hugs him tightly when they’re reconciled.
Steve feels depressed when he has to defer
for she reneges on his visiting rights.
When he next has his son, he will show her
by putting an end to their horrid fights
Steve jumped from the cliff tops at Beachy Head,
his son clasped in his arms, both were found dead.
*reneges counted as 2 syllables not 3 as per how many syllables

Use it or lose it, but try not to abuse it.
Confuse it, amuse it, but you should not refuse it.
Lick it or stick it, but you should never pick it.
Deny it, defy it, but I know that you'll try it.
Take it and bake it, they say that's how you make it.
Fake it or break it, but no need to forsake it.
Shell it, repel it, hell, you can even sell it.
Define it, refine it, but don't you take it's mine it.
Prefer it, defer it, it might even be her it.
Forget it, regret it, but the odds are that you'll bet it.
Prepare it and share it, but you should never spare it.
Baste it and taste it, but you should never waste it.
Say it, don't spray it, but you can still display it.
Love it or shove it, put nothing else above it.
Contrive it, derive it, take control and drive it.
Hike it or bike it, what ever way you like it.

Losers
Do you waver. are you shy?
When they look at you
do their eyes imply:
"We'll have to make do"?
Do you doubt your reasons,
suspect your goals,
commit self-treason
defer to trolls?
Are you always too reflective?
Are all your victories retrospective?
Do you try to do what's right
and end up being too polite?
Take heart then, don't despair!
Remember losers, everywhere,
it's within the infinite power of thought
to prove conclusively the winners are not.

Light Verse
The strength of one that’s young and bold.
The patience of one who’s wise and old.
Is it false, or is it facts?
Are the reigns pulled tight, or are they lax?
Which would you prefer?
Or, in giving your’ answer, would you defer?
Life is about choice.
About heart, soul, and voice

game of love
You were a treasure yet sold at a bargain's price.
You were not appreciated. Yet you stayed.
A disconnection called, but you hesitated, in the name of love.
you knew it was fake.
But it was painful to let go, too painful to hold on and worth to try.
A relationship ready to fail and was all laid openly to you.
You were the game.
You were convinced they are the only one for you,
But how would you know? You are never willing to try.
But always willing to cry, it hurts, doesn’t it?
Always trying to make it work, when all they do is create work.
The effort you put in to fix it, Is the effort they put in to ruin it,
Because your no longer needed
Is it that difficult to read on their actions?
It’s true, actions speak louder than words.
When actions screamed truths, words were a blur. Neglecting the signs, you began to defer.
Escape the hurt, let healing begin.
Stop barking, it won’t help!
they will throw a stone at you Instead of a bone.
The longer you hold on the more it will be hard to let go.
The more we force it. The higher the chances to never fall in love again.
Taking yourself for granted is not an option.
It’s just a portion to kill your heart.
Time spent in neglect leaves a heart in distress. Embrace your value, and with love, don't regress.
We stay glued hoping to lose feeling.
But only transforming ourselves into shapes beyond healing
In the end we only want them to realise how much they mean to us
Hoping they will one day understand our feelings.
Sometimes we ask ourselves if they’ve ever fallen in love before
For if they did, they’d never want us to endure this pain
Of watching the one you love to walk away without hesitation.

I saw her sitting there looking real sad
Tears that flow down her wet face very bad
Each teardrop exists with some great moist streaks
She has a violent reaction so bleak
Tears move from her bloodshot eyes down her cheeks
Quickly flows at first, then slower it seeks
Looks for that way out from the pain she holds
Love is what she seeks now, out from the cold
I surely give her some space she desired
Then I break this silence as she required
She reached out to me as I approached her
Her tears slow down now, they almost defer
Her face is tenderly wet from the tears
We’ll hold each other for many more years

Sonnet
Weary, sluggish and silent with apathy and
disinterest, I sullenly reflect and
languish....
My thoughts—thick and heavy like
molasses—painfully churn and swirl in
and out of my head and spill against the
background of dead silence of my living
room....
They are in constant motion, while I sit in
the living room mute and gagged and bound
with the world-weariness of a lifetime and
stare blankly into empty space by looking
inward....
Even the furnishings around me defer to
my now sullen mood. Not saying a word
and bowing their heads, they hold their
tongues and keep their thoughts to them-
selves out of respect and deference for my
silent and solemn doldrums....
The flat-panel TV, otherwise always on
and hyper-gregarious, for once regards my
sullenness and apathy with its own....
I sit exactly thus—
alone,
but in the sympathetic company of my
furniture and belongings....
They whisper to me of a time when I was
sinful and wanton and remind me of the
need for redemption....
I remember, and take heed by repenting....
And by doing so, I have narrowly avoided
reaping and gathering the terrible,
karmic consequences
of an unspeakable harvest of sins
for myself!
