Premium Member Count On You

When my world collapses
And I'm feeling blue
When the chips are down
Can I count on you

Will you stand by me
And help ease my pain
Will you walk with me
Through fire and rain

Will you stay with me
When the world turns away
And hold my hand
Help me find my way

When the dark clouds come
And the sun don't shine
When the rain starts falling
Will you still be mine

If I lose it all
That I can no longer cope
Will you smile at me
And bring me hope

If I find my dreams
Have all turned out wrong
So that I must leave
Will you come along

When the tide arrives
As I stand in harm's way
Will you be my support
That I do not sway

We will walk through this world
With our heads held high
While our hearts reach out
And touch the sky

We will stand as one
With a love sublime
We will love forever
Until the end of time.

I Refuse To Count Sillybulls

There once was a poet who despaired
though blessed with a fair amount of flair
that he was way too thick
to master limericks
counting words an arduous affair

Limerick-writing he'd master not
count sillybulls, meter and whatnot
the elusive punchline's
too troublesome to find
with his thoughts roughly tied up in knots

Spatial dimension impediment
a meter doubled in measurement
at the best of times three
lopsided prosody
shoddy despite its being eloquent

Sillybulls ignored and miscounted
charge around angrily, discounted
with their hoofs on the slam
they step up the bedlam
bewildering chaos uncounted

With pep talks and deliberation
resolved: they're too high 'bove my station
so to rhyme he should stick
and give up limericks
where wordcraft counts naught but summation

*Sillybulls = syllables. My thanks to Ephraim Crud for the loan of the word.
To Wignesan: am I stooopid or what???

I Count the Stars

~

I count the stars
the evening sky
In hopes that as they
wander by

Each star I count
the numbers show
Just how much I do
love you so

It is not the number of enemies that one should count in his life

but the number of friends that are willing to help him in his strife*

Count

I used to count the years, the months
The days, the hours
The minutes, even the seconds
Since the last time we spoke

I remember the moment I looked
Into your green eyes,
Pupils expanding,
The light shining down on you,
Below your eyelashes—the prettiest glare
Those eye contacts off-centered...
Plastics never quite fit you,
Just as I never did. .

Hope has a funny way of fleeing
Even when time ticks mercilessly on
And truth is never beautiful
When the mouth runs dry
And the eyes go blind

I used to count the years, the months,
The days, the hours,
The minutes, even the seconds….

You said,
“You actually understand me. . .”
And your intense amusement watered your eyes
It wasn’t until I started counting that
You stopped seeing me for who I was
You stopped understanding. . .
You never quite understood.

My grave mistake was waiting
For every last second
To matter
Was hoping,
That every moment without you
Would count forever
But no one counts the tears
No one counts the beats of a broken heart

Make It Count

line count and word number are equal in this selection....

"Make It Count"
by: Eric L. Boddie

A
Man may
Come to play
But if you say
Oh no baby, not today
Do you think he would stay
Or would he go so far away
In search of another lover he could lay
Doing everything associated with rolling in that infamous hay
And if push came to shove, maybe he would pay
To relieve all the stress stemming from your hips' distant sway
Because something must give, there are more than fifty shades of gray
That's common knowledge to the freaks and all those upon which they prey
And once you learn them all, I promise your lover will never ever stray
But if you miss just a single one, then you may experience that dreadful day
Where you lose it all so try to find True Love and remember to always Pray

Count Dracula's Spell

A walk upon dark, icy ground
sends shivers down to bony spine;
spared from the choke of death thus bound,
breath comes whence love and hate entwine.

The count, their lord, doth rise at dusk
to terrorize blanched countryside
His steely eyes slice trembling husk
for drop of life, his brides abide.

The stench of corpse wafts from dead night
like sweet perfume on lover’s nape.
Enchanted by his starless flight,
he beckons with dark-wings of cape.

Then, like the moth to burning flame,
her fervor climbs for fangs drawn near.
a scarlet kiss to seize with shame,
Greed’s appetite expels stored fear.

In harsh rays of the waking dawn,
She curses beast, her longing’s doom.
With conscience breaking charm and brawn,
She lifts wood stake above his tomb.

The Long Count Calendar, Cycle One Ends

The Long Count Calendar, Cycle One Ends

December twenty-first, two thousand and twelve –
The Mayan long count calendar sets sights on that year.
Are there ecological and cosmic questions to delve?
Is it time for modern man to panic and fear?

The reckoning at hand, according to Mayans,
Began with the creation of the world.
Then, the sky still lay on the primordial sea, black
And the long count calendar began time’s whirl.

Man has traveled a long way on life’s stage.
Throughout time to beyond the information age,
Amazing discoveries have and will come to man
Since before and after the scientific method began.

End of the world theories run rampant these days.
Promulgated by televisions entertaining ways.
History Channel’s “Decoding the Past”
Brought on many doomsday sequels…and fast.

Did the galactic alignment of nineteen, ninety, eight
Begin the wake of a super-massive black hole fate?
Or will a geomagnetic reversal mark earth’s end?
Can we know when the apocalypse will begin?

The Holy Bible says no one knows when.
Upon that premise, hope over fear may win.
Have faith and see what NASA has to say
About that previously predicted calendar day.

Polarity change takes thousands of years.
And it doesn’t affect planetary alignments
There is no huge planet heading for earth.
So, predictions need realignment.

Be faithful; and with Christ live a thousand years.
Even if the apocalypse does start, put fears on shelve.
What will really happen in two thousand and twelve?
Cycle two of the Mayan long count calendar will begin.

The Doctor Is In! But Your R.E.D Blood Count Is Low! (A Monologue)

So, how long have you been waiting? No, it doesn't really matter!
I just came in the game to quiet the chit chatter.
And now that I am here, where should I start?
First, I'll examine your head, and then I'll examine your heart.
Did you really think that you had the skill to beat me.
Like a student to a teacher, you should be happy to meet me.
Just be happy to greet me, and get ready to get taught.
My assistance should be sought, for those weak rhymes that you brought.
In my medical opinion, you can not pass this test.
I am the best, and I would hate to have to open up your chest.
But, be my guest! R.E.D must mean Really Envies Destroyer,
But I'll take care of that, as soon as Nate the GREAT can Deploy her.
Maybe R.E.D means Really Easily Done
Your defeat will be so fun, since I am second to none.
I know! R.E.D means Reaches Eventual Destruction!
I already started keeping score, and you just got your first deduction.
But, once I destroy you, I will help you get better.
You must follow my instructions, right down to the letter.
My first prescription is called "get a little back-bone!"
Out of this battle, you will be gone, unless you can change your tone.
No battle is ever won before the first word is thrown.
I don't care who I battle! In the end, I will stand alone!
My second prescription is called "get a little more skill!"
Your wounds will soon heal, but come again and you will get killed.
Practice makes perfect, so you might just want to chill,
Because this DOCtor does not come cheap. Can you afford my bill?
My third prescription is a good one called "get a little smarts!"
Or, get carried away on a cart, if you can not play your part.
When I begin throwing darts, I am aiming for your heart.
So, decide if you got what it takes, before you start.
Get these prescriptions filled, then see me in a week,
And, remember, they are good for the healing that you seek.

Premium Member I Can'T Count the Tears

Unlike the Drifters and Smokey Robinson of previous years,
I am unable to keep track and count the tears.
They say a man is too strong to cry.
However, crying is something I cannot deny.
Ever since you went away,
I have been missing you each day.
The flame in my heart continues to burn,
as I optimistically await your return.

Down For the Count

A boxer in the ring may think
He’s getting all the breaks;
Then bam! he’s down, for just like that,
One punch is all it takes.

I know exactly how he feels
For suddenly, today,
Whatever energy I had
Quite quickly drained away.

It happened as I headed home
From taking in a movie.
The walk was twenty-seven blocks,
But I was feeling groovy.

The last few streets seemed very long
And man, I sure was sweating.
I hoped that it was not the flu
That somehow I was getting.

I made it home and hit the couch
And fell into a sleep;
My dinner plans for later on
I knew I couldn’t keep.

Whatever hit me, from left field,
Was surely tantamount
To reeling from a punch that sent me
Flat out for the count.

American healthcare is a joke
Government play on too many folk
Those who can't pay
Die everyday

~Count The Stars~
(Free Verse)

Dream about tomorrow
But live for today
Count all your blessings
Like children count the stars

Finding ways to make wishes
And dreams come true for you
Reminding you to keep believing
In brigher days and in yourself too

To give you Hope that is
As certain as the sun
May you always have an Angel by your side
Helping you through all

When we're born, we begin to die
When we die, we begin to live
I've seen the Light that shines
through God's Divine Love for all to see.
