Best Calming Poems
In my arms you can forget your troubles
Close your eyes and leave them all behind
I’ll sway you tenderly to loving rhythms
I’ll comfort you to sweet musical perfumes
And protect you with all the serenity
Of a thousand starry midnights
Under feathery wispy lakeshore willows
That waver in cool late summer breezes
Close your eyes and leave all worries behind

You are calming to me daily
Calm, like the water I see
You take interest and care for me
In sweet ways, so consistently
You reach my soul in ways to be
Content within security
You offer true found empathy
I share with you serenity
That bring simple things authentically
With you my angel, I am free
As our wings lift us, so gently
In our own shared place, peacefully
I rest in our thoughts, silently

It's like a flamin' maze out here
where I'm looking for a name,
where hawthorn hedges line the fences,
and the crossroads look the same.
I'm up and down seems every road;
I've criss-crossed east to west,
as well as going north to south,
where I am cannot be guessed.
I've been through Catani twice,
and three times into Bayles,
so the road and house I'm looking for,
on me mate’s direction fails.
I cannot place just where I am,
with all this wasted time I spent,
then on a crossing close to Caldermeade -
bang! And I'm in an accident.
I was stunned there like a mullet,
with nerves tingling to touch,
I got out to see the damage,
which luckily was nothing much.
Then the fellow in his rusted ute,
stepped out looking pretty grey,
for he'd gone through a give-way sign,
where I had the right of way.
He looked at his car, then mine
with a big sigh of relief,
for there seemed little damage,
were the words of his belief.
So back to the ute he sauntered,
returning with a drink,
saying, “Mate our shattered nerves,
need a steadier I think.”
He handed me the bottle
with the cap on it undone.
I had a drink and then he said,
“Go on you have another one.”
I took a swig and then another,
and me nerves were back on track,
so I handed him the bottle,
and in the ute he put it back.
I said, “You didn't take a drink!”
And he replied to me “I know -
but you can bet that I'll drink plenty
after the coppers go.”
Wake your inner song,
As its melody so kindly speaks,
Bathe in the warm sun,
as it dances gently on your cheeks,
Open up your tired eyes,
As their passion filled fires glow,
Touch the tree of life,
As its branches ever higher grow,
Exhale your bated breath,
As its soft breeze soothingly blows,
Kiss the blooming rose,
As its roots tickle beneath your toes,
Embrace your deeper peace,
As your heart grows ever fonder,
Massage your weary feet,
As they'll support you when you wander.
In the hush between our spoken lines,
I find a world where stillness shines.
Your touch, a calm the storms can't shake,
A breath I never knew I'd take.
With you, the noise all fades away—
The night feels safe, the heart can stay.
No need for dreams when you are near,
The present holds all I hold dear.
Your silence speaks, your closeness sings,
Of quiet love and gentle things.
And in this peace, both soft and true,
I find my home—inside of you.
Darling, you are the only one,
who took the time
to read my sound heart
examining each chapter as a newborn
taking a break between lines
for a comforting embrace
a look of passion
unconditional
on your charming eyes
caressing my insecurities away.

I’ll watch
over you
my darling
as I prepare your bed
with gentle petals
of rose and peony
Close your eyes
and sleep
my sweetheart
surrounding you
with warmth
and love
I’ll soothe
your aches
and ease
your mind
I’ll watch
over you
my darling
with my heart
my life

"I love the sea, its crashing waves are perfect imitation of the chaos in my soul."
- Makhaira
The seas exude a calm that is unique,
Rising from tortured waves that can't stand still,
When her mind’s in a whirl and oh so bleak!
She watches the warring waves and feels thrilled…
Their rise and fall mirrors her ups and downs,
Into the far horizon she gazes,
She is mesmerized by the rhythmic sounds,
Soft beats in the endless sand amazes,
A walk by the seas, ‘tis balm to her soul,
The bottomless waters wash ‘way her cares,
Her legs wrapped in the warm sand, she feels whole,
Sitting on the shore, she longingly stares…
The seas understand her best ~ yes, they do,
For they let her be, free to roam and see,
They don’t question her tears when she feels blue,
So that’s where she goes in sadness or glee.

For Constance La France's "Writing Prompt, Oceans or Seas" contest
A deadly debate that could have just been a simple conversation.
One point and its the same point argued between two men at a bar.
One of the men is loud and angry.
The other man, he seems to be quiet and calm.
One point and its the same point argued between two men at a bar.
A simple debate that ended in a deadly situation.
A deep breath in, a slow release,
Calming your mind, heart rate decreased.
Once tightened muscles, begin to let go,
Reminding yourself to take it slow.
Focusing on, your happy place,
Stress is gone, without a trace.
And as you dive into the real.
So differently you now feel.
Walking through the ever overwhelmed streets
Afar I sense a splendor of wind flapping it’s vast wings
A fur from it sparks on my face
I close my eyes and a tear drops, forming goosebumps on my outer layer
I smell an odour of soft rains swept through the bemire earth
The gentle wind whispers silent emotions of the beautiful people I see past
The love between an expecting mother and her unborn
Or the teenstar madly in love with life without the worry about Tomorrow
It’s maiden approach so liberating
Reassuring hope to someone who’s down-poured
Racing to win perfection
The birds in the open skies run wild in your motion
This chemistry with nature never felt down my core
That sharpened pencil sliding on a paper
Creating words that can not be expressed nor spoken
But felt by this little poet of the wind
Beautiful untouchable gale, I wish I could embrace you
You carry a huge load that only you can contain
The blown wishes sent from hemisphere to hemisphere
Your spleen is always astounding
A chill in my veins craves to swing in your wings.
Kathy The Calming Sea
You're just like a calming sea
singing us your final song of love
you will be forever in our hearts
in our memories, for eternity
now you're without pain,
without any suffering
we all love you still
you'll look down from heaven
watching over us helping us along
our way keeping us safe and sound
silently validating in our choices
at night I see you in my dreams
we will forever love you and keep
you in our hearts remembering every caring word you sang
in your sweet, beautiful voice
we miss you and love you, Kathy Ricks

THIS CALMING SEA
I sit here in the darkness at a window
that mirrors my wild mane, unruly me
Imagine how in time this house will grow
around me, a Rapunzel, you will see
My hair in braids grow down a castle vast
The nurses turned to wicked witches, wild
If you don't save me, I will never last
A lonely, lost, love seeking smallish child
Their screams are in my head, such ugly sound
Of capture, castigating, lashing words
My hands, over my ears, have never found
Relief from them, I wish I were a bird
To fly away, and leave my legs behind
To have my arms be wings to carry me
(To where no harm or evil ever find)
Eternally over this calming sea
Ocean waves gently brushing the sand
Wind whistling through an old window
Sparrows in bushes chattering away
Leaves rustling in the breeze
Soft pattering of evening rain
Babbling brooks
A water fall
There's nothing like listening to the calming sounds of nature to soothe a stressed soul
the ocean has a calming effect
i commune and chill with animals as they even forget themselves and chill
i love that there is a place where you can just totally forget about what life is
yes, there is hope in the world for peace and contentment
yes, there is hope for togetherness and unity
yes, God is still everpresent and still watches and observes us with a smile
even He blesses with sunshine despite predictions of rain....whether throughout or periodic
i just may sway and stay for another day
the ocean has a calming effect
