A Bridge Over Silent Waters
Never judge your fellow man
Before seeking your own reflection
Not the one that shines in a glass mirror
Seek it in the eyes of your fellow man
His eyes shall reflect your compassion or lack there of
When a pond has no ripples
Look for the lies, underneath
When you see the waves upon the water
Know that the winds are singing to you
Truth will always seek you out
Never close your heart to a strangers smile
His smile may bring you serenity or deception
Trust in your inner being to know
It shall open up towards the rainbows or seek refuge
To protect your soul
When you see a human suffering
Flea not inside your reflection
Instead reflect upon his suffering
Share the waters of your pond with him
This shall promise you both more rainfall
Notes
This was inspired by a poem written by Charmaine, she was kind enough to let me use a few of her lines in the first verse of this poem. Its amazing how when you read something it can open your mind to think of things you otherwise would not have. For some reason, maybe more because of his messages than his style I find myself thinking of Richards’s poetry as well. This for me is the beauty of the site, the inspiration one gets from fellow poets, it’s a great honor to have met so many, and to have shared so many ideas and views and opinions. More important than any poem is the laughter and smiles, this among friends is like giving away gold bars. (Although I do accept the occasional gold bar now and then)

Light Verse
If my memory serves me well
you were once a friend of mine
need I remind you, pray do tell
a friend who overstepped the line
friend became lover became husband so fine
I'm longing now to feel your arms
Sailing amid memories divine
Right when I thought, I was over your charms
behind my eyes, beneath my skin, you twine
Like an almost forgotten memory
a song, your words combine
bridge across time, consoling me
over and over, our dreams align
troubled tho our paths maybe
water flows through sands of time, for me
I feel your love
Will you always feel mine?
ease the parting, herein-above
your gift, our love, define
mind and soul are thine.

When I’ve had dark times in my life,
and need uplifting at times of strife
I listen to the words of this lovely song
and get comfort and aim to be strong
The path of life is winding not straight
Many troubles can be put down to fate
We need friends till our dying day
Who’ll be with us come what may
We all need good friends by our side
to dry sad tears, too many I’ve cried
They’ll be there any time that we need
Special friends to be cherished indeed!

If finding yourself means going it alone,
You shouldn’t—a fact that is painfully plain.
Need is a naturally human bemoan,
A collaboration helps you remain, a
Friend to those who also have needs to atone.
I'm clearing a path, a push straight ahead,
Sailing stress free in my life stem to stern.
Right where I should be, clarity widespread,
Behind me no wake or substantive churn.
Like all things in life from which one must glean,
A period of time flowing under
Bridge where it is swept quite far out to sea,
Over vastness like far distant thunder
Troubled and troubles, mere seconds they flee
Water healing life’s fires placed asunder.
I promise you one fact I now cherish
Will power alone is power itself, so
Ease your mind with the faith you’ll not perish
Your success assured, fear placed on the shelf
Mind over matter, peace you’ll inherit.

If this night you suddenly find
you have lost all faith in mankind,
need I say anymore, I care.
A resourceful comrade, I’ll be -a
friend in your dreadful green se-a.
I'm willing to help guide your boat;
sailing wild, can we keep her afloat?
Right now, waves seem brutal, unfair,
behind us spite-filled ships bear down
like dead weights leaving us to drown.
A quick look to heaven reveals
bridge of mercy for such ordeals.
Overwhelmed, I found when despair
troubled me, then I learned to tread
water - a sure hand ‘neath my head.
I know the pardon He can endow;
will faith in mankind help you now?
Ease into this slowly and share
your forgiveness with stormy souls.
Mind, you must give God the controls.

If you want me to care
You will have to share.
Need someone to love.
A heart for your glove,
Friend with some flare,
I’m the one, which is true.
Sailing across the ocean blue,
Right before your eyes,
Behind your path, below the skies,
Like a forever friend you know.
A guardian with special glow,
Bridge not me before my start.
Over previously broken heart,
Troubled days and nights are gone.
Water washes your heart at dawn.
I want you to believe my words.
Will you listen to singing birds?
Ease all the ills of your soul.
Your heart is my only goal.
Mind not, my passion will console.

Bridge Over Troubled Water Acrostic

If you ever wondered why
You could not figure it out,
Need one come and with you cry?
A friend with a lot of clout.
Friend to friend conversing,
I'm not quite sure what about,
Sailing beyond useless cursing
Right tone without a shout.
Behind the scene there’s erected
Like steel to steel is bound,
A bond few would never know.
Bridge to bridge connected
Over silence yet to flow.
Troubled hearts each in tune
Water from all eyes trickle down.
I wonder if any are immune
Will with no one love be found?
Ease into the heart of your friend,
Your troubles leave behind.
Mind your emotions and the victory win!

If I could only take away your pain
You would always find my hand in yours
Need you by my side
A love for you so strong and never dies
Friend, husband, my lover
I’m forever yours
Sailing together on life’s rough journey
Right by your side forever
Behind us all our troubles, we just look forward to the future
Like our holiday in the sun
A break we need so much since you have been so ill
Bridge built, no barrier we cannot overcome
Over all the years together
Troubled times are now in the past
Water under the bridge, your cancer is gone forever
I will be yours until the day we die
Will stay by your side
Ease back gently into the peaceful life we once knew
Your ever loving wife
Mind body and soul forever yours

If you are sad or are lonely
You will need a helping hand
Need friends to gather around you
A cry of help I will answer
Friend is what you will always be
I'm sailing through rough waters
Sailing to you fast as can be
Right now I can feel your sorrow
Behind you leave your problems now
Like they never had existed
A problem shared is halved
Bridge's are there to help you cope
Over time you will learn and grow
Troubled mind will then be at ease
Water flows washing them away
I will help carry your burden
Will support and ease your passage
Ease and peace will flow over you
Your time is now not tomorrow
Mind set free to flow like water

I have sat at the table in the pub where this song was written there is a plaque
on the wall commemorating this wonderful song and a view of the river as it rushes
past in turmoil you can also see the bridge from the table they used.

My troubled waters ran deep.
I could not sleep.
My heart throbbed in awful pain.
Then you were on the phone again.
From Australia twice a day.
Every day that fateful month.
I hovered between life and death.
How much worse could it get.
Soothing, comforting sounds you made.
Saying "Please don't be afraid."
Loving me more than words could say.
You build my bridge day by day.
Blood is thick and you knew me well.
I was close to the edge, you could tell.
"Stay alive for my sake!" you begged.
In that moment I was saved.
Beautiful sister I owe my life to you.
Now my troubles are so few.
I crossed your bridge onto dry land.
On that day you grabbed my hand.

If at any time in your life
you feel the desire and the
need for someone to be
a source of comfort and a
friend in all situations
I'm always around for you
sailing on the waters of life
right through the darkest hour just
behind you in fair or foul weather
Like a log on the river banks I will be
a path across for you just like a
bridge stretched from bank to bank
over the raging turbulent river
troubled by the wind churning the
water into a mass of liquid fury
I am right there at your side and
will always be there for you to
ease all of your burdens and
your fears and to comfort your
mind to peace and tranquillity

A BRIDGE OVER THE RIVER QUIET
‘Tis the infancy of yet another day
And I hear it crying for its bottle now
But I know the sun is no child anyway
It can be a sadistic son and it will teach you how
I live under a tunnel on the highway’s right
Yet wrong I may ever be
I found an old mattress the other night
so discomfort doesn’t bother me
Today yesterday is but an artifact
An ancient find to hunters of the past
But it seems the sun and Satan have some sort of pact
Alas, whatever it is will probably hold fast
I’m lucky enough to live with my lover
She’s agreed to live free along with me
And often when it rains we needn’t run for cover
The umbrella is our love to be
The term “shelter” means different things to different people I know
Shelter to some might mean a mansion in France
To people like me and my lover “shelter” means just somewhere else to go
Moved by an emphatic embrace and the lives we each enhance
To us rain, cold or snow doesn’t mean we get up and go
It’s the tortuous sun we know will eventually come
So we weather the weather knowing all we need to know
For my lover and I may be homeless but neither of us is dumb
Now let’s get back to the infant son and the fear of it’s adolescence
Because as we know children can often be rambunctious and rude
In the heat of mid-day August we suffer an adult son’s insolence
And being fully grown it only treats us kindly when its in the mood

If time is turning unpropitious,
You shouldn't hesitate a minute,
Need not ponder a moment,
A distance of a courtesy call,
Friend will stand by you for sure !
I'm in the same waters as you,
Sailing in the parallel boat as you do,
Right or at times left waves might slow the pace,
Behind at times left, but let fortitude prevail !
Like best of the times quickly pass away,
A perverse situation too is not going to stay,
Bridge the gap between time and patience,
Over and over build up your vicissitude,
Troubled times would soon be left far away,
Water, the morning water will soothen the sail !
I'll not let the stress overpower ,
Ease the mind off the recurrent vague thoughts,
Your spirit will feel the essence of enlightenment,
Mind palace is a place wonderful if conquered !!
