Bridge Over Troubled Water

If I could only take away your pain You would always find my hand in yours Need you by my side A love for you so strong and never dies Friend, husband, my lover I’m forever yours Sailing together on life’s rough journey Right by your side forever Behind us all our troubles, we just look forward to the future Like our holiday in the sun A break we need so much since you have been so ill Bridge built, no barrier we cannot overcome Over all the years together Troubled times are now in the past Water under the bridge, your cancer is gone forever I will be yours until the day we die Will stay by your side Ease back gently into the peaceful life we once knew Your ever loving wife Mind body and soul forever yours Written for the Competition sponsored by Roy Jerden Bridge over Troubled water - Word Acrostic (my first ever acrostic poem) Dedicated to my husband with all my love Jan Allison 17th February 2014

Gosh this was written nearly a year ago - how time flies - I have been on an amazing journey with his cancer and my poetry - wow I can't believe where the time has gone and how I am having the time of my life having discovered writing! Hugs Jan xx

A massive thank you Roy. If it hadn't been for your competition this poem would never have been written. It is my first ever acrostic poem and out of all the poems I have written its my favourite for two reasons the first being its my favourite all time record and also its dedicated to my hubby who has been through so much with his cancer. This poem and 'the enemy within' are now my favourite poems, its just taken time and his cancer for me to get my feelings on paper. never dreamed I could write something like this and its one of my favourite all time records so it makes it even more special Jan xxxxx
