Anthropomorphism For Beginners.

First of all I would like to say
A big Thank You to everyone
Please just find a spot to sit down
Yes, on the floor, Agnes doesnt mind.
I had the chairs removed last week,
After that sit-in stunt they pulled.
No demands yet, still not talking.

Pay no attention to Cybil
She's feeling frisky I'm afraid
I'd throw her outside but sadly
There's no way that I can trust her
As long as she's under my roof
And the vet bills are paid by me
Its my moral code she'll follow!

So, relax, breathe and say hello
To the thing sitting beside you
We're all beginners here today
Nothing will laugh at your mistakes
Just one warning before we start
Names have very powerful magic
Be careful what label you choose.

Try not to change tack half way through
Or do the process more than once
Don't confuse or insult targets
And most important of all
Don't name everything the same
That will just confuse everything
Any questions? Right! Lets begin.

Beginners On Roads

I remember gazing at, through some moving vehicle:
the foggy mountains mystical; the setting sun; the distant blue sky.
                  It (landscape) winked,
            and I (confused) waved back;
                 It (landscape) shuddered
and I (resolute) held its hand.
Then the area went black and white.
Meandering words, empty and transparent, filled what was once a visual scene.
I attempted to organize my thoughts,
readjust my lessening vision, reassign colors to words, place invisible meaning
into a little box called order and logic.
But the earth cared not for my pedestrian opinions or my confused and idealistic musing,
romantic staring as some derivative form of deep, abstract thinking.
I asked her what do the wandering clouds mean, the chanting brooks and the whispering wind?
And she said everything and nothing.

Everything and Nothing…
Well then the Earth is truly a genius, isn't she?

There is no meaning to be found, except for some formless, shapeless mass,
odorless and austere like blank crumpled paper.
I attempted to mold it, to shape it, to essentially create a somethingness out of nothingness
    … like some God.
The clump, then, went flat, and then disappeared.
    And the scene returned,
and the mountains were back just in time to be passed by my window.
And that left me staring dumbfounded,
for now there was no tool to interpret the return of coquettish waves and the expansive skies.
                But,
I kept riding in the vehicle, still hopelessly staring into the vast sunset.

Premium Member Beginners Luck

You know how they say,
you can’t make
this stuff up...
(True story!)
As fishing stories go,
this is not a story
of the one that got away.
This is a story of
four fish that didn’t.
We started out
feeling fine,
everyone having a good time.
fishing on the pear.
For beginners luck
I was catching fish
two at a time.
I was confident
and in control,
I politely avoided a lady
who was offering
to rub your fishing pole.

Lucky for us the water
was warm and not that deep.
I pulled my fourth fish
out of the water.
And then it was time
to get on the boat.
Well, as it turns out
things didn’t go my way.
I couldn’t catch a fish
while on the boat all day.
The next time we go fishing
I will exercise
a little more control,
and let that lady
rub my fishing pole.

Premium Member Advanced Birdwatching For Beginners

Crow (Blackus Menacingus)
large, clever and a scavenger
found in gardens where there’s trees
good at puzzles, can be trained
likes TV shows about celebrities

Blackbird (Blackus Not-A-Pirateus)
common gardeners friend is he
perched on the handle of a spade
looking out for bugs and worms
went on a holiday to Adelaide

Thrush (Not-The-Itchyus Sortus)
light brown plumage with spotted front
easily identifiable medium bird
known for a complex, tuneful song
makes jam tarts with lemon curd

Starling (Impressiveus In-A-Large-Flockus)
iridescent all year bird
feathers change colour in the sun
swarms in huge numbers then
off to the pub for rowdy fun

Wren (Smallus Sticky-Uppy-Tailus)
one of the tiniest garden birds
surprisingly loud and piercing voice
small, round body, quick and gone
to play boardgames and other toys

Puffin (Brightus Beakus)
black and white with colourful bill
dives the water for its food
coastal, cliffside, craggy nest
sends birthday cards that are very rude

Premium Member Bar For Beginners

We placed every bar for our children to touch,
If it is too hard, it could be too much,
We will drop it for our kids to start,
And grow their green minds, spirit to impart.

Premium Member A Poetic Peaceful Diplomatic Game For Beginners

Playing a game on a checkered board
No need for armor and sword
Only a decisive mind
Thoughtful strategy and enough time
Concentrating with a stare
Capturing pieces without a care
Characters used straight out from mid evil books
A knight making hops and hooks
There is a castle that is called a rook
Without a ‘c’ they watch from the tower having a good look
Funny the Queen moves are filled with power
While the King limited probably a coward
There is a spiritual artistic depiction
Going forward is its only restriction
Always challenging ending up in an invisible tangle
Bishops slide along on a mystical angle
Finally there is the little pawn
First one to move on the battlefield lawn
Slowly stepping down then line
Clearing the path allowing the power to shine
If the mission was a success
Royals find out and are impressed
Getting to the other side
A commoner is promoted since they tried
Having this new position on attack
Puts fear in the enemy King and makes him pack
Then ends falling into a trap
Surrendering before taking a nap
Hearing two words ‘check mate’
A friendly message not having any hate
Using these figures at their finger tips
Could be a nice way to say ‘get a grip’
Has war been around this long?
Doing things basically that is wrong
Fighting battles for no reason at all
Watching neighbors and former friends fall
Centuries long ago they socialized with a game called chess
Soothing an angry attitude presenting a mess
Human emotions have not changed
Tempers still have that maturity range
Maybe we should talk about competitive aggression released in sporting peace
Giving life a new lease
Not counting the deceased

Baldness For Beginners

What do you do if you lose a leg
Put on an artificial one instead
And if your eye sight needs improving
Glasses are the thing to get them moving

But alas if your hair is what’s missing
Wearing a toupee will get you some ribbing
So there seems no hope for a nude nut living
Except shaving it all without apologies or forgiving.

Drinking With Aussies For Beginners

I was with a Brit friend the other day
Drinking beer and telling stories you might say
I was draining stubbies down as an Aussie will
Making this mate laugh thinking I was a real dill

Ya see in the mother country you drink out of a pint glass
And swigging the bottle was uncouth and made you a bit of an ass
But when an Aussie wants a drink and it doesn’t matter what
Looking for a glass to drink out of is silly when you’re hot

And another mate said to me one time
He only drunk when it was warm that was so fine
This was a cold day in the middle of July
He said there hadn’t been a cold day for 30 years gone by.

Guess who

Two beginners here
Speaking softly
Relationship to steer
Both thinking loftily
Never lack of boundaries so *****

Denial of the highest sort
Never excepting emotions
Each barrier a impenetrable fort
Yet still going through the motions
Only success comes through the truth of court

The answer does not take a sleuth
They like each other you see
Open questions are uncouth
Answering to no fee
Oh the strangeness of youth

Premium Member BEGINNERS

May we be blessed to understand when we’re disheartened
discourage and frustrated
at something new we are trying to learn…
trying our best to do…

That every expert, every champion
every first place gold medal winner
before they became an expert, a champion,
or a first place gold medal winner
was also a beginner too.
