I used to be naive, I used to trust
but then that trust just crumbled into dust
the world at large is so unkind, it's true
there is the world at large, and then there's you
You are the one on whom I rest my soul
my naked thoughts reveal without control
You are the one to banish every doubt
to make me see what trust is all about
You are the one I tell each secret fear
the one whose fragrant promise lingers near.
You are the one who knows my hidden ways
Who fills with love the moments and the days
You are my fortress sure, my anchored dream
I lie still in your arms in flowing stream
You are the one who loves without degree
the one whose smile erases history
You are the lover's hope avowed in pledge
A sure security when life's on edge
You are my truth, my strength, my everything
Because of you, my heart and soul can sing

“Not enjoyment, and not sorrow;
Is our destined end or way;
But to act, that each to-morrow
Find us farther than today.”
A Psalm of Life, by Henry Wadsworth Longfellow
Because I live, I am me, avid voice among the free,
Flexing freedom, defining contours of my dreams,
Ambling life’s prairies, rowing life’s eager streams,
Braving challenges, eying serene, hosting sublime,
Purposefully furthering life, with every tick of time.
Curious, conscious of the mortal world, I am aware,
Amplifying empathy, nurturing amiability, I care;
Not prone to seek hurdles, when faced I will dare
Maneuvering around the detours on life’s highway
So tomorrow would shine, upon my brumous day.
Witnessing travails faced, wishing for a fairer way,
Vying hope of rising dawn, exiting night of dismay,
Resembling urge of spring rooting in wintry decay,
Aspiring to a kinder world, short of goal, yet I wait,
To pluck fruits of morrow, negotiating course of fate.

Someone special died because you drink and drive
Dear drunk driver I want you to know
Forgiveness is a fire enlight save souls
Maybe you live
Maybe you are deceased
Maybe you forgive
Maybe you are hurting
Blue you blue drink
Driving reckless quicker
Lives are linked
cause you can’t handle liquor
You didn’t care
You knew you were drunk
Car a weapon killing daughter or son
What if it was your mama
Or your daddy
Broken and bleeding
Screaming and crying
Wrapped around a tree
Or on the highway
What if your wife and child
Died that day?
Someone special died because you drink and drive.
Every day and holiday a family sighs
No more birthdays or 4th of Julys
No more phone calls or smiles from bright eyes
Victims who died because you drink and drive
Those who survive have hard work to do
Physically, therapy, or creating life new
advocating for cause for spiritual mending
Creating a bridge from tragedy to winning
this song has music
BECAUSE OF JUST ONE POETESS
I let go of living in sadness.
My life seemed going nowhere,
and looking back now, it all
seemed like madness!
It wasn't because she did
gymnastics with boorish
poetic forms.
Nor was she cute or wordy.
using only the shortest
forms.
I was in search for something
far deeper that healed me with
human warmth and a soul balm.
Best of all, through her, I was
to learn to waltz happily with
shadows of my past!
And to know that love seems
to end, but I found contrarily it,
in another form, always lasts.
BECAUSE OF JUST ONE POETESS
I kept coming back to read her
at the Soup.
And, finally,after a number of
months,
I concluded to sign up and
express myself with my freshman,
weak pen.
I used to write the saddest poetry,
before I came here.
I try now to stay away from poets
who hate my country, or get joy out
of living in lost love or sadness.
And to avoid all who laugh at and
demean myself!
Belittling others in a poem, creates
and furthers world madness.
BECAUSE OF JUST ONE POETESS
Indeed my days have transformed
from gloom to splendiferous gladness.
No hopelessness nor grief can
fingerprint my life any longer.
And in the days to come, may
my words become far stronger.
BECAUSE OF JUST ONE POETESS!

I was a fool.
I was a fool searching for reasons why.
Reasons why I
Grin with sudden boy giggles
As if Karma was my DJ,
Playing cotton candy woven riffs
Of rhythmic whispers
Evermore
Everlong
I savor dark chocolate Peanut M&Ms
Tasting her sincerity
With each Pacific Ocean observance
Her dialect portrays within
My sunset smiles
I was a fool.
A slightly nervous kid
At his first Sadie Hawkins dance
Holding a paper cup
filled with swirly colored punch...
...not spiked
;-)
Futile attempts to stifle these vibrating legs
From crippling my exhaling urges
I was a fool.
Searching for irreplaceable reasons
Why my smiles became
An 11 year old innocence
I smile.
I blush.
I embrace a new dream
Written on embossed bucket list
To hold her
To hold her
To hold her
towards sunrises’ incipience
One day
With no reasons why
Simply
Because

Her tired old eyes lit up bright.
A thankful tear, she could not hide.
A sweet aroma fills her nose;
because he gave a single rose.
Confined to this dreary nursing home;
having outlived family, she's alone.
Today, with a smile, her face glows;
because he gave a single rose.
He brings them often to his mother.
Today, one extra for another.
Talking, on and on she goes;
because he gave a single rose.
She asked an aid to bring a vase.
By her bed the gift was placed.
Happy and peaceful then she dozed;
because he gave a single rose.
Her final breath tonight was sweet.
Family missed, again to meet.
Her last day joyful, all heaven now knows;
because he gave a single rose.

“Who will not open a gift given with love? Life is a gift, own it, open it and treasure it.”
_ By Poet
God has breathed life into me, and I live.
To make this life as fruitful as I can, I shall strive.
Life is a blessing, a treasure to cherish
I should make it a celebration with every moment to relish
Though life is one of ups and downs with sorrows rife,
With perseverance, I shall try to overcome every strife.
Life is a precious gift we can never forsake.
It is a journey uphill, we must all undertake.
Though life is a roller coaster ride with twists and turns
There is so much in life, each one ardently yearns
Even amid struggles, one can savor the beauty of living
It lies in the art of forgiving and in the joy of giving
In learning new things, in aiming at new heights
In relishing new scenes and in savoring new delights
Every day I take a new step, a new chance,
To improve the quality of my life, its worth enhance.
With a beacon of warmth and a touch of grace,
We can light up lives and bring a smile on many a face.
I wish I could fulfill my purpose, to light up the dark
To make a difference in some lives and leave a mark.
As long as I live, I should see the power within,
To love, to learn, to grow, to strive and to win.

"I have lived thousands, thousands and thousands of days;
I have loved a hundred loves or more;
I have written thousands and thousands of words;
And this has been enough. "
Quote by _ Constance
Because I live- I have been able
to help my parents who loved me well
in their last days
I have been that arm that cradled their heads
that hand that held theirs
in a final breath
Because I live- God has blessed me
given me this gift of words
and I am ever grateful
to be able to pen my pain
and if my sorrow can help a single person
my purpose is done
Because I live- I have God and Jesus
in my life and they are my path
they have filled me with kindness
compassion and giving
and their heavenly light
shines from me
Because I Live- and did not die
many times along my journey
I have been able to touch many a life
with my words, poetry and pen
with inspiration
and who can ask for more
Because I live- I met true love
the most amazing man
beautiful in face, heart, soul, and mind
and though his destiny was short
and his home is a heavenly one
I will love him forever
x You,
the one who hurts me.
x You,
the one who chains me.
x You,
the one who controls me like a puppet.
x You,
the one who has my strings tied to your fingers.
x You're making my choices yours and I've gotten used having no say.
x Weave the webbing you create,
Trap me like a fly.
x Everytime you hurt me,
I manage to pretend that I am blind.
Im clearly not but I lie and tell myself
"She cant be that bad!"
... Can she?
x To me you're like a cigarette,
Im addicted to your love despite it being the thing that's killing me, I don't want to stop but this time I won't let myself answer your calls.
x Instead,
you fill up my head.
Memories,
Cravings,
Feelings.
Withdrawal drowns me.
x I should burn every excuse I made for your abuse,
But I don't.
x Keep promising myself I won't go back to you,
But I've never quit successfully.
x Halfway through another cigarette,
I promised it'd be my last 3 packs ago.
But I knew I'd likely never quit.
I don't even get a buzz anymore,
I feel nothing for them.
x I feel nothing for you.
Pain is fuel for frustration,
Because I don't have a will to quit.
x You lassoed me and pulled me in,
just to tear me and my everything apart.
Thoughts of you flood back any time I leave,
a voice of silk whispering to me.
Claiming one more time won't hurt.
I'm not strong enough to ignore it and it senses my fear.
x I said it was the last time last time. x
x I know the damage even a tiny taste can do.
I swear it's the last hit I'll take of you.
x I don't wanna be alone.
I tell myself your toxic love is like cigarettes or drugs.
Addictive, deadly, and damage can only be seen with the eye of time.
x I need to find a way out of your faux love web,
but I can't see through the fog your kiss leaves.
x You're like a cigarette. I'm desperate to stop but at the same time, I don't wanna quit.

I'm here because.....
I need you to believe in me
You...Yes, YOU!
My fellow poet..
You who understands
my love for words and their nuances
denotations, but even more...their connotations
their play and interplay of emotions
I need you to believe in me
believe in my voice
my selection and word choice
believe that I can make a change
with my catalytic composition of rhyme
in this present time
when the world is in pain
when there is so much to gain
by the prophetic cry of a poet in the wildness
I need you to believe in me
I'm here because...
I need you to empathize with me
you who sees my words dripping
the blood of my lacerated heart
I'm incomplete
scarred
I'm scared
I'm holding on by one last thread
at times overcome by dread
life is hard
I need you to empathize with me
to write a little word
that will lift my heart
and caress my soul
with the balm of poetic love
friendship's bandage
Cover me....
I need your empathy
I'm here because...
I need community
others don't understand
this is not just a pastime
a cute little way to occupy my time
It's my heart and soul
my ever present dream...my goal
to live on when I'm gone
in some remembered little song
that you helped we write along
I need community
I need the you and the me
In the communal dance of poetry
They don't see
what words mean
to you
to me
I'm here because...
I need your wisdom
I fall short
I see only within my vision
my periphery
I cannot keep in store
all the mysteries and more
you bring wisdom daily to me
a feast for my hungry mind
to relish all the truth I find
your wisdom nourishes me
I bloom into what I'm meant to be:
a writer of sincerity
I'm here because....
When I'm not
I'm so incomplete
the missing parts of me
are here....
they live in my lines
they breathe in your rhymes
you write; I read
I write; you read
and life is born
and I am
whole...
I'm here because....
I belong
Here are people who understand
who help me to stand
who lend me a hand
I'm part of a band
of people like me
who taste the ecstasy
of a life that is blessed
by sweet
poetry....

here with me

~ Lingering thoughts from the heart ~
Because you are a part of me
BECAUSE
You opened up my eyes,
They turned towards the skies,
Clouds higher than I’d ever seen
The grass so green.
BECAUSE,
You opened up my eyes
You offered me first prize,
To see the stars at night
Showering us with light,
BECAUSE,
You opened up my eyes,
Let out depressed sad sighs
To see icebergs melting,
Culprit, global warming
BECAUSE,
You opened up my eyes
I see grief as he or she dies,
The worlds become a war zone,
Fighting an enemy unseen, unknown!
BECAUSE,
You opened up my eyes!
I know this virus is in disguise
And saw the great divide,
Which made me sad, I cried!
BECAUSE,
You opened up my eyes,
Saw poverty, heard children’s cries
Forests which were dense,
De-forestation makes what sense?
BECAUSE
You opened up my eyes,
Awakened to be wise,
And help and give the poor,
More than ever before,
BECAUSE,
You opened up my eyes,
Dear God, I need your advise
What is it you wish me to do,
For I will do anything for You.
And all BECAUSE,
You, opened up my eyes!

Because you’re a poet, that’s why
Behind the thick crimson and gold thread curtains
he stands listening to the din of the audience
searching their seats for popcorn crumbs
while roaming hands brush against the legs
of those sitting closest
The young girls get the winks
and free drinks as the old men
vie for position, straightening their hair
and flashing thick wallets
from stretched out back pockets
He peeks through the slit in the
fancy brocade drapes to find a full house,
everyone is here, the self imposed mayor
wearing a handmade campaign button
shakes hands and seeks signatures
Mrs. Broadmore assigns seats in her row
as the little people gather around, telling her
how beautiful she is while hoping for a glimpse
of the diamond crusted gin filled flask she keeps
tucked away in her left garter
The lights dim as the depressed sulk to their seats in the balcony,
broken hearts fill the back rows closest to the bar,
cheerleaders in pink lipstick and short skirts, the football team
all stoned out of their minds and the debate club collect in the center
while the pretty people, the wealthy pose in the front rows
He gets the signal as the curtain slowly lifts
to the ceiling on well oiled pulleys
There is not a sound as he makes his way
to the microphone at center stage, dead silence
but he reads his poem anyway
It is obvious he is no Leonard Cohen
but he does his best as he recites the verses
he has penned especially for this evening
Upon finishing he stares out as two people
clap their approval and the others whisper and look away
His shoulders drop as he leaves the stage,
head hung low, crumbling the paper he had read from
and tossing it in the trash as he wonders aloud, “Why, why do I do it?”
A janitor sweeping near the exit door hears him
and shaking his head replies, “Because you’re a poet, that’s why”
I reposted this poem because……..I like this one. : )
Because I love you I left.
Because I didn’t know I would love you I couldn’t wait,
I couldn’t wait until you will find the truth about me.
Because I love you I made you believe that I left you,
I left because I don’t love you.
Because I wanted you to continue your life with another one,
I made believe I wasn’t the one.
Because I couldn’t be with you I tried to hate you,
Because I couldn’t hate I pretend,
Because you couldn’t hate me I left.
I left quietly until the day you forget me,
Until you forget all what we shared.
Because I’m too bad and I couldn’t tell you that,
I just left.
Because it is too hard for you to know the real me,
And it is too hard for me to know that you knew,
I left.
I left because I feared that I would want to stay with you,
When I would see your eyes;
That I would like to be with you for the rest of my days,
I couldn’t say good-bye.
Because I can’t send this letter to you
I keep it near to my heart.
I read it every day to remember
To remember you.
To make myself believe
That there is good in this world,
To make myself believe
That I am a human been now beacause I love you.
All the lights dim out
as I crawl into my spacesuit.
I fill the air with crystal screams,
my mind is ripping at the seams.
If it falls apart,
I will surely wait here.
I'm made of gold in all my dreams,
surrounded by my favourite things.
The stars will age and die,
blowing matter to new places.
My flesh is celestial dust,
but my golden bones will rust.
I never asked to be here;
This equation isn't right,
All I taste is bittersweet -
there's broken dreams between my teeth.
The glowing lights will permeate,
the stardust spreads and dissipates,
and I will always wonder why.
I'll keep your secrets, hope to die.
