I sang and wrote this song to advocate for victims of drunk driving. I own the rights to the music.

Listen to poem:
Someone special died because you drink and drive Dear drunk driver I want you to know Forgiveness is a fire enlight save souls Maybe you live Maybe you are deceased Maybe you forgive Maybe you are hurting Blue you blue drink Driving reckless quicker Lives are linked cause you can’t handle liquor You didn’t care You knew you were drunk Car a weapon killing daughter or son What if it was your mama Or your daddy Broken and bleeding Screaming and crying Wrapped around a tree Or on the highway What if your wife and child Died that day? Someone special died because you drink and drive. Every day and holiday a family sighs No more birthdays or 4th of Julys No more phone calls or smiles from bright eyes Victims who died because you drink and drive Those who survive have hard work to do Physically, therapy, or creating life new advocating for cause for spiritual mending Creating a bridge from tragedy to winning this song has music

Karen, I can see you put a lot of work into this…and it shows. Great message. You obviously have a lot of talent and you get to decide how to use it for your maximum pleasure and advantage. It’s a lot of work to comment on each other’s poems, but it’s also enjoyable. Again, thanks for being here!!

Dear Jones, I have so much loved your song, the song is as good as your poems. The best advice you can give someone who drinks, is to away from the steering under alcohol influence. Thanks for sharing this beautiful piece, John

Wow Karen, this is a deeply touching message, beautifully put to song, and very well done. This is a message that needs to be heard. Your poem set to song and the music is incredible, you are very talented. I hope more people can hear it, and may it play back in their minds before they get behind the wheel of their car while intoxicated. This is awesome. Thank you for sharing this, a fave for me. God bless you Karen <3

Karen~ I used to work for MADD~ Mothers Against Drunk Drivers. Then …..when we called people who to contribute, they said were people who did not drink. They said “ I don’t drink” Who do they think would hit them a sober driver?? Many millions do drugs and drive. And plenty of grass. They hurt people too. Trying to get to hear your voice. Having problems! Glad you wrote about this.Pangie xx You talent you,!)))

Pangie I was a volunteer on the national hotline and also in the courtroom. People or some are not aware until it hits home as a personal tragedy. Sorry you can't hear my voice. Thank you for kind comments and for caring about this issue. Hugs love and light.

Your poem is a good one Karen, the music and voice add an even greater sense of depth to the overall message, reminds me of a gentler version of White lines (don’t do it) by grandmaster flash, check it out if not familiar with it, brilliant! cheers David

Susan I never want people to feel sad but that is the reality for millions who are family members of victims and or survivors themselves. Thanks for listening and getting the message. Hugs

WoW! Karen, This is a powerful message on what can happen if one drinks and drives. My thing is if you are of age and want to drink be responsible and get a designated driver or plan and simple, DON’T DRINK AND DRIVE. I agree with Jan. Thanks for penning a powerful poem( song). PS, read my poem. A constant friend. ;-) Alexis

I second what Jan said, and suggest it gets posted to social media, tag #Alanon #AA #mothersagainstDrunkDriving , You should consider getting a "soundCloud" account as well. This is a good song. It may get licensed and used for film, tv or resung by a popular artist.

I totally agree Karen, If a drunk driver can't stop, they need to stop drinking and driving and get help and treatment. Most drunk drivers do it frequently. They need their license revoked indefinitely. Why should a Senator care about the rights and privileges of a drunk driver who killed or injured someone? It's the same as murder or attempted murder. I hope your poem/song gets seen by the masses due to its powerful and relevant message.

People who drunk drive should lose their right to drive. Their rights allow them to kill. People have a right to live more so than the drunk driver's rights to drink and drive. I went to the senator's offices with this message. One said he didn't want to take drunk driver's licenses or rights away!!!

I have contacted Poetry Soup as there is a technical error. I uploaded the song after compressing the file but soup isn't showing it so there is a glitch. I will get to the bottom of it with soup's help hopefully. As a last resort I may have my son post it on YouTube so I can link it that way. But it should work here as a file upload but doesn't. :0(

I think people who have a drinking problem should seek help, not drive when intoxicated... although admitting having a problem is the first step...

One of the girls I went to college with was killed. Funeral was so sad. I felt so bad for her family, because they hurt so bad. Your song hits home .

Oh that's desperately sad. So many lives could be saved if drunk drivers simply made a simple choice to take a cab or Uber! I know of a man who witnessed decapitation of victims of a drunk driver. He was behind the car. Traumatic of course. He ended up marrying a psychologist he met at the family gathering to celebrate the lost lives. Some light from all that sadness.

too many innocent lives lost because some idiot gets behind the wheel when they are tanked up. In some countries there is a zero tolerance to alcohol when driving. hugs jan xx

Drunks never learn. Taking a life in such a wanton way deserves a harsh punishment. Not in corrupt Malta though where drunks get away with murder. Blessings.

Yes Ink Empress I CAN'T do pictures either. But I suppose I can learn. My son Tahj Jones works in Cancer Research so he is busy but he writes. His work is more cerebral than mine as he is a think tank lol. He will go to poetry slams in person where I write and stay home. Oct 17 is black poetry day. He will travel to Raleigh to be among the poet laureate and the festivities. Me I will maybe read about it ha! He is also a photographer. He posts his photos and writes about them. Your thoughts would be welcome
