To you it may seem
That I'm grumpy or mean
Or that I cry a lot
The truth I fear
Is so very near
And it all explains a lot
The face you see
Is not really me
I know you know me not
The truth, with wit
Is about what I did
In this itsy bitsy cot
My pants, too late
Is warm with weight
And really smells a lot!
So, hey, put down that phone
And leave me alone
Or help this tiny tot!
Picture no. 1
Life is jesting, breasting amplitude waves.
Wait till they cave to my whims, make them slaves
to my non-stop babble "a-ga a-da"
"goo-goo gaga”, “coo”, ma-ma" and "da-da."
Staring at frightful strange faces falling
to my belly, a bubble, Ppppprrrrrrrrrrtttt, blowing.
I giggle, but they look pretty silly.
Drowsy, "Ba-ba-ba," they call me Willy
their good at imitating my babble
as they worry and come on unravel.
With enough practice they'll get my command
and I'll have them eating out of my hand.

Poetry Contest: Baby Face What's You THINKIN 2..

YOU? Why are YOU up in here, all on the prowl,
looking closely at me, causing me to scowl?
DUDE, can't you see anger set in my jowls?
I just arrived brand new, so I still remember
how my last life ended one cold September
when someone - YOU - forgot to yell timber!
Are you listening, seeing this face, witnessing
my expression of disdain as loathing clad?
You scad ... what, huh .. what DID new Mom call you?
NOT grandad, no - no, that cannot be true.
You and me, related .. that I cannot do.
The angels must have placed this wee doodad
on the wrong heavenly infant launchpad.
Oh, me, just great - I'm already living mad.
Why did not you
cross the black river
and remained innocent ?
Unhealed, failed inside, broken and honest ?
You won the race,
the space, the heaven.
Moving away to the farthest blackness.
Your god sits crosslegged, clotting.
Brown hands on white shoulders, boneless
move in circle. Deportation
of words opens the green wounds.
Birds carry the snow on the wings.
I was confused, wanted to love
my broken vowels, for absolute you and me.
The baby face pops up again
in my perfection, speechless.
SATISH VERMA
You know what?
Guess what I got
And no I’m not wet
But you can guess
I'm hyper, bit kiper,and niper,
La, la I got a dirty diaper

My mum and dad are over there
Waving my bottle without a care
They know its making me mad
But say I’m still a handsome lad
My eyes are on that prize
They say I need to rise
Up on my hands and knees
But I think I’m going to sneeze
There’s a tickle in my nose
Reaching way down to my toes
Something happening in my nappy
They will say is really crappy
My mum is smiling at me
As she sits and drinks her tea
Now I’m wriggling in this mess
I wonder should I confess
For it’s really not very nice
Yet they still try to entice
I’ve to do something called crawl
When all I want to do is bawl
I wonder if I cry
Will I stop having to try
For I am now very frustrated
This they should have anticipated
Maybe dad will pick me up
I’ll drink my bottle before I burp
Then I can have my nap
As I sit upon his lap

She cries like a baby,
And whines till she’s held,
She is a baby,
My baby,
My sister,
She cuddles,
Like a mother and her child,
With me.
She drinks milk,
And is cute,
She balances with ease,
Oh my kitty,
I love you so!
The silly man wants me to smile.
Been making faces for a while.
My mom and dad are standing by
just grinning hoping I won’t cry.
I’m ill. I’m tired. I missed my nap.
Just filled my diaper full of crap.
I’m hungry too. Smile? I will NOT!
Don’t care if pictures cost a lot.
Cooperate with y’all? No way!
My picture won’t be made today.
So—diaper change and bottle, please.
We’re going home. Get out your keys!

He was always so needy
Needed to be in some woman's arms
They liked holding him close to them,
looking at his baby face
Baby loved sucking the bottle,
he couldn't keep a job
because he always failed the breath test
But baby didn't cry,
he always had some woman give him the suckling breast
Mommy lover would take care of him;
put money in his pockets
and give him a clean bed
Somewhere to lay his boyish head
The women loved kissing his baby face,
it brought out their best maternal instincts
Baby face needed them to care for him,
he would coo when they tickled his pride:
Said he was so fine ...
he was their baby sunshine ...
Said the baby was mine ...
Mommy's gonna take care of you all the time ...
Being treated like a child-man didn't shame him at all,
it only reinforced him feeling good about himself
He liked being pampered,
held close, because he was so needy
This man with the baby face
could be pacified so easy
Needing a surrogate mommy's love
is the milk baby face dreams of
I am only seven months old and I wonder
What will they feed me today
Will it be carrots yuck I ate those yesterday
Will it be pudding nope, dad just ate that today
I wonder when they will change me
This pee and poop stinks
Can they not hear me crying I will crank it up a notch
That dumb TV’s to loud
What is that spinning over me head
My eyes are going round and round
They think I am laughing but I am about to throw up
Who put this dumb thing over my head
They keep throwing me up into the air
Do they think I am some kind of toy
They better not drop me I am fragile you see
If they break me they will be sorry
I have no lifetime warranty
Another bath do they think I am a fish
What is that powder they are putting on me
My eyes are so tired I can’t keep them open
That’s okay we can do this all again, I wake up every four hours

Using Face #E
1st Place
A baby face thinking alone
where all the smiles have gone.
I look utterly amazed all around me
when with my mother I often go out,
angry faces of high strung people I see,
without any rhyme or reason they shout.
Faces covered by clouds of despair,
hopes melt in secret shower of tears.
People can’t find an iota of time to spare
in the mad rush to nowhere to help others.
Faces contorted in the grip of envy
defined by the contours of grim mask.
They never can share your feeling happy,
to shed selfish pride for them is uphill task.
The stony faces of these people I see,
glint of joy their eyes have never shown.
A confusing thought germinates to nag me,
asking where on earth the smiles have gone.
With my pristine nascent smile I tell you,
bring back smile, make for me a world new.

Baby Face What's You Thinkin
Who's that with her hands reaching out?
I know what she's thinking...
She's smiling...but I don't know her!
No way, lady, no way
will you snatch me from my mama!
Hmm...she is getting much too close.
So...here's my nasty face!
I am not as cute as you think.
Beneath my soft skin lives
a very loud, screaming monster!
No way, lady, no way
will you snatch me from my mama!
You better stop smiling!
