Best Annulment Poems
Symbols crashing on each side of the head;
One side magnificent, the other side, dread,
Violins play their calming current,
Bass and Cello raise anxious annulment
My caller is happy, but he carries both dire and grand news,
Someone precious, in trying to lose
Lose his youth, and play his own symphony fine,
By leaving his home a new conductor to find.
And then those who have sung in his learning choir,
Are left with strings broken, unclaimed desire,
From left piano keys black and white to the right,
They have been traveling through their own perilous night.
And then my caller parts staccato with an I love you,
While the orchestra plays trembling a long night through.

A couple of years later, at age 19, this farm girl married and, true to her Catholic
upbringing, began having children. She had four live births and four miscarriages over the course of less than seven years, long before the idea of “post-partum” depression was even a gleam of understanding in anyone’s mind. After the birth of her fourth child, a girl who would grow up to study environmental sciences and eventually draw the correlation between that first atomic explosion and her mother’s first episode of mental, emotional and physical distress, that infant had to be taken by her aunt and uncle to care for lest she perish from failure to thrive because by this time, mom was so deeply depressed, she was unable to care for her newborn.
In those days there was no such thing as mental health care, no understanding at all of how to nourish the brain or detox the body from the effects of poisons and radiation…for indeed these advances are only recently gaining traction and still only in the realm of “alternative health care”. With no understanding of her condition, or of what would even constitute appropriate care, her state of mind and body continued to deteriorate. After more than one suicidal episode and losing her children to foster care while she entered a treatment and rehabilitation facility, she was eventually diagnosed as paranoid schizophrenic and manic-depressive, giving her husband sufficient justification to divorce her and blame her parents for not telling him that she was mentally deficient before he married her. Even the Catholic Church agreed and granted an annulment of the marriage that produced his four live children and four miscarriages while he served in the Air Force and left her to care for his children while he was away for years at a time overseas on unaccompanied assignments. But nevertheless, the marriage was officially annulled so that he could marry again sanctioned by the Church and his Catholic bride could continue to take unholy communion in mass.

Behold Cath'rine of Aragon
after six children whereupon
from Henry an annulment was said.
Somehow she managed to keep her head.

She kissed a frog
and got no Prince
that so sad Princess sweet.
But still it quickened
her palad pulse
and her heart it skipped a beat.
Do not judge,
Frog had his charms
he was a clever chap.
One kiss it’s true,
love ruled the day.
Frog hopped upon her lap.
Their wedding strange,
there by his pond.
Her Castle up the hill.
The Frog you see
had cast his spell,
the Princess lost her will.
To the Castle,
the couple climbed.
A luxurious place to stay.
A talking frog,
with glowing green skin,
had somehow won the day.
French frogs philander,
he could not stop.
Our Froggy caught in the act.
Back to the pond,
annulment too,
Frog’s spell was finally cracked.
The Princess cried
“How could it be?
I loved you with my whole heart.”
He responded with beguiling smile,
“It seems we both must part!”

Oh the places we won't go,
like post dated postcards
with fictional photographs of you and I
laughing lovers caught up in this
moment
now mourn this trysts annulment
The fading hue of I to you
crashing closer to memory
are the full blown passion ploys
and blissful near misses
...the only places I may recall you fondly
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Once upon a never
you gazed dreamy
laughed freely
kissed deeply
and made love sweetly
...no not sweetly, but dirty discreetly
the pure erotic world all yours
behind closed doors
engrossed in post-coital
pillow reminiscing
Moving past the altitude
of fickle courting, began the rouse
singing blandly rehearsed tunes
to retreating corners licking wounds
For confrontation is where you thrive
while in misplaced ire my interest dies
beauty morphs horrid in this beholders eyes
as your idiocyncrasies I now despise
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I may think this time was lost
but I say it's worth noting,
my pen has always moved the most
between the loving and the loathing...

When she told me
About her Bowie knife collection
And her occasional bouts with P.M.S.

Prose
Food is a gift from the Creator
To make mankind happy;
But never indulge in over eating
For it may cause some misery.
Work is Almighty's command,
For people to be glad;
But one must avoid greed
That shall make him truly sad.
So nice to gain knowledge
For it brings satisfaction;
But the fool says to his heart:
'There is no God in action'.
Friend lends a helping hand
All the more in times of need;
But bad buddies and mates
Will make your heart bleed.
Having a lifetime partner
Is healthy to one's emotion;
But the Lord hates divorce,
Annulment and separation.
The bread, job, wisdom,
Acquaintance and a spouse;
To human they are gifts
And treasures whom God allows.
But the greatest gift of all
That we must value and cherish
Is salvation in the holy city
Where hunger and pain shall perish.

Though A Destitute Alteh Kocker...
(albeit boyish), I tell myself with pride
always look on the bright toothless side
of life, this nonconformist tried
his darnedest with
threadbare trappings to abide
despite bristling, harumphing,
and lamenting luckless life,
while woe didst ride
shotgun squeezing snotty
schnozzle, nuzzling nose, wide
dilating nostrils coquettishly cozying cold
conical snout splayed alongside
steering column as if silently to chide
yours truly for impoverished states
of body, mind, and spirit hermetically hide
ding, asper necessary manna,
hence, (no eggs add chore ration) I yolked
reining clamps down hard, ultimately dried
existential wellspring, especially averse to risk
rejection, when as supremely
scared boy stifling bittorrent tide
natural animal propensities squelched elide
ding healthy mental, physical
and spiritual development
desperation found future bride
less because stricken with love bug,
versus when pent up vasocongestion vied
hardened male member, which relied
on instinct to seal biological pact
sporting two (now grown) daughters bonafide
birthright genetically patented
each taking their respective stride
toward housing vibrant young women
expanding their comfort zones,
unwittingly forcing this papa to admit he denied
himself obligation to foster maturation
implicit with every species within world wide
web, no chance to rectify the bitterness inside
hence pervasive reference, sans annulment
portraying "FAKE" motif life, liberty
and pursuit of happiness only
experienced, when Alpine for Swiss side!

Bio
emotional annulment
can never nullify the
fact that this relationship
existed
the existence of this
relationship can never be
undo from the pages of
the book of life lived
nothing said nothing done
can ever invalidate the
past that we shared
nothing can cause the
memories of us to
vacate the subconscious
mind's memory vault
the memories can not
be reversed within the
mind's eye
nothing can retract
the pasts existence
of you and I

I don’t need a feed of pomp or a creed of fanfare to progress
Cos my God rains treasure trains
Teeming with blessings and fertile feelings to address the plight and stress
That threaten in tens to smuggle into my serenity pesky pains
I detest as weakness in my knees lurks in the background
Severing thoughts and initiatives I design
With much passion, dedication and diligence to break new ground
Despite hurdles and obstacles to which never will I consign
My future and culture in any era
I traverse to converse with the obverse of the coin
God granted me long before I stepped into any fora
Where by design God orders I join
Kindred souls to advance humankind’s goals
In the pursuit of the suit of fulfillment
Despite my stumbles, brambles, catcalls, walls and falls
As God paves the way clear to ensure the annulment
Hostile tiles and piles suffer
Solstice and malice face
Goodwill and guidance prefer
Wealth and health race
Into my life where God pours blessings
Whether I deserve them or not
As my dedicated white dove sings
Whether the temperature of fate blows cold, tepid or hot.

It’s a lesson Christ teaches, God’s Word’s living water;
solution life needs for a thirst that’s survived.
Some might think light’s life’s lifeboat till desert surrounds them,
no flux points to well’s hide, no raincloud in sight.
Stars can serve as a guide on earth’s featureless ocean
but waves don’t help sailors when clouds hide what’s true!
East, West gives crabs some comfort (love lateral movement!)
but North Star’s a mystery, nailed to the sky.
Life sends COVID to prove this, ‘Blind Faith’ means there’s slaughter
(demise of all questions!) Fools all (who’ve ‘Arrived!’)
cling (death grip) to false ‘truths’ that for brothers births mayhem,
black holes who vamp blood from a stone (blokes kill light!)
Those who’d live for Christ’s Kingdom should shun self-promotion,
love Grace, bless the Son who had Cross on ‘to do
list,’ a favor to strangers who’d seek self-improvement,
rejecting the logic, “God’s TRUTH is a lie.”
We’ve got Bible AND Science to give us direction,
but TRUTH’s more like God; it’s not something we win!
For God’s TRUTH’s more what’s real when you find your God’s absent,
not something one dreams up where Grace is not King.
That’s the meaning of Grace: love of life ‘discards’ Judgment,
discernment (that’s personal) still stays a goal.
If in faith Sin’s forgiven, then why do you bridle
yourself, make some pastor your master? Roam free!
I have eight lines to go! Lord, I’d love a “C-section!”
I fight with my muse but impugn You’ll find sin,
in my child, in this poem, that struggles but nascent.
Could I get a stanza for my wife’s gold ring?
It’s so fun how minds work; I don’t seek an annulment,
just hope for some form. Hear my pray’r for the whole!
Two to go, then it’s finished! Lord? What rhymes with bridal?
Mispelt word’s so lucky! Dear God, that’s so me!

Poet’s Note:
How fun it was for me to end an earnest poem with such a light
heart, with some evidence that I practice what I poetify! Ha!

Modern Romance:
is a series of
messages across
profiles inflated,
balloons full of
hot air.
it is an annulment signed and dated,
easier to wax seal than talk through.
it is a leaf without veins to drink,
a dragonfly with no charger.
it is a wind that creates no lasting breeze,
a beach with rocks for spittle and plastic for lips.
but sometimes those ongoing
anonymous messages might
even eventually
meet.
