Best Amadeus Poems
You give me the desire
a love for composing
word symphonies
yet you give me
the cross of mediocrity
to bear
day by day to know
there are others
who are prodigies
and I must hear
the thunderous applause
while at best
I get the praise
of those who seek to console
my dying soul
I must eat my heart alive
while the words burn inside
demanding expression
soul confession
unborn masterpiece extrication
I fall to my knees
and plead
While I beat my chest
in fervent heat
"Bless me...Bless me...
Make me like him
Make me like her
Make me more than all of these
Make me the best
a word genius
For this love of words will not set me free
Till it is MY name that they chant
My name on their tongues
My name branded on their minds
the Maestro of Word symphonies
Oh, Let it be ME, ME!
BLESS ME!"
Yet...
day after day
night after night
and in my dreams
I see, I see....
I see them take their bows
I see their work showcased
praised
immortalized
while I?
I sit at my desk
and try once more
to write
to...WRITE
the sublime....

The movie Amadeus rocked my to the core. "In it, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart was killed by his jealous rival, the court composer Antonio Salieri. Salieri cleverly took advantage of Mozart's fondness for drink, his financial crisis, and his obsession with pleasing his deceased father, and tricked Mozart into working himself to death."
Murry Abraham did a wonderful job of portraying Salieri. There is a scene where he argues with God about the wonderful musical talent he has gifted Mozart, who seems undeserving to him, while HE has to live with mediocrity in musical talent. I can relate. I LOVE poetry. It is my life, and yet...I have to watch as others write so effortlessly and reach the pinnacle of fame. It is hard to do. :( Some days are better than others. On the good days, I'm happy that I can write a poem now and again. On the bad days....I want to cry for not being another Shakespeare....or Donne, or Dickinson, or Gibran, or Rumi, or....and the list is endless.
Stray with flamed music along bay’s shoreline
Give in to notes playing among the sand
As fingers dart symphony’s rush, I pine
Caress your tinted strokes written longhand
As I feel allegros bursting moon’s shine
Give in to notes playing among the sand
How can frail youth’s light steal your brightened face
Although your bones lie in common man’s grave
World slain by Requiem, time can’t erase
Smile gently now from brief life lost and craved
Embrace the thought, your name carries blessed praise
Although your bones lie in common man’s grave
Your depth, Amadeus, keeps breath ablaze
Heart touching keys, your passion beyond reach
Embrace the thought, your name carries blessed praise
While centuries resound what you beseech
Stray with flamed music along bay’s shoreline
Heart touching keys, your passion beyond reach
As fingers dart symphony’s rush, I pine.

When will you admit defeat.
How many
have you beguiled with
words of
honey flowing through
lips deceiving.
He has said
the child
may choose
how it confronts its demons.
Oh, Amadeus,
where are you,
Captain of the Legions of Satan?
Show yourself to me.
Come under my scrutiny.
Can I fight you
for the souls of my dear departed
in your grasp?
I weep
but can not help.
Show yourself Satan
and have me at your mercy.
I am covered
in the love of he who cast you out.
I am washed
in the fountain of waters of forgiveness.
You can never take my choice from me.
You will never understand
the precept of free will.
Without it my faith would be nothing.
I know that I need not be perfect,
but He expects my best.
His commandments are hard
but I am willing and earnest.
The law can not be altered.
From a path of despair,
compassion lifted God to holiness.
Eternity swells with pride as I strive up the
ladder toward light.
But neither God nor your master makes me
take even one step up or one step down.
If this were not so where would
be the greatness
in my action
at the completion of my journey.
I have lived the life.
He has asked me in
and I have come home.

lost in a winter dream~
beneath the indigo sky
the melancholic music soars
echoing from distant shores
making dainty daffodils dance
in the bleak starlit eve.
snowflakes whitened my hair
as I chase the evening glow
searching where the melodies flow
and there I find you
under the moonlight shadow
singing my old favourite song
while stardust sprinkles in my palms
as I run to you.

Amadeus - Amade
Where! Where to honor you, Amadeus –
In the city of the waltz –
In palaces gilded with golden light
In cathedral dust, forgotten,
In mountain havens
Or their ascending heights?
What place –
What faceless stone -
Bids your spirit rest – what marker
Bids auf wierdersehen Amadeus?
The city where the river blue
Still flows –
Eternal life and inspiration -
Forgets where it’s adopted
Mountain child lies –
Nor did it care when last
You gave your soul in soaring melody
Opening for a tone deaf world
The gates of Heaven’s song –
Eternal symphony of God and man.
No master’s requiem wept upon
The winter day
When winter stilled
The life within your flowing harmony –
The waltzing world
Quickly spun away
From genius haunted by night music –
To see the dust of history cast anonymity
Upon a pauper’s place beneath a tiny star
Where jealous mediocrity hides you.
Among the graves of common man
Envy hides your mortal bones
Unmarked, unknown, unsung –
Momentary crushed -
Until the light of purest sound escapes –
The soul of music you set free - in fantasies -
In plaintive prologues - flutes of magic spells -
Slowly swirls above haunted dreams
Shattering shrouds of soundless bonds
To echo forever in perfect notes.
Where! Where to honor you Amadeus?
Not within a city of rococo gates –
Nor shouted from ancient mountain walls –
Your serenades released to the shepherd King,
Born from inspiration’s boneless soul,
Spin in arias through layers of earthbound airs,
Rise slowly beyond portals of mortality;
Your melodies – crescendos in ecstasy
Flowing from the eternal child resolved -
Consummated - liberated – set free!

As I drive by the end of days I see a pumpkin and a happy witch on the doorstep of my joy,
As I pass by my four year old’s awe toward friendly ghosts down the street of nostalgia,
I am reminded of Saints gone home and good souls on their penitent journey,
Zora Neale Hurston, Langston Hughes, Countee Cullen, Paul Robeson and the poets of my past,
Hendrix, Morrison, Michael, Louis Armstong and the Sounds of my testimony,
Prince and Wynton Marsalis, Miles Davis, Amadeus, Earth, Wind, and Fire,
Saints living, saints dead, souls vibrant, souls sad in the darkness of regret,
We are a glorious symphony on this, this all Hallows Eve,
The eve of that day when I celebrate the muses of my sacrifice and the foundations of my epiphanies,
“Halloween is here” my youngest daughter exclaims and I am reminded of many a night spent scavenging for sweet things and expectant laughter,
Tragic kings like Edgar Allen and Charlie Parker, souls with so much pregnant genius that the world was too much for them,
It is our celebration dear friends that will move the mountains of discontent,
And so in this season of harvest, carpe diem calls me to absorb as much love as I can as the sun sets on purple leaves and gorgeous corn stalks,
And in mother Africa, the ancestors dance like their Celtic sisters who fused the worship of our Lord and the glory of mother Gaia,
And in mother Africa the land recovers from the grief stricken sting of rape,
And in mother Africa my sisters and brothers celebrate the saints gone forward into that great mystery,
Tecumseh and Black Elk I celebrate the brilliance of your aptitude,
And I cry with you in triumph for the resurrection of a people forsaken but not defeated,
Come Glory,
On this All Hallows Eve, I celebrate the beauty of a journey full of confusion and catharsis,
For the reality is that we truly cannot fail,
As our cloud of witnesses sing to me of the victory that awaits,
Tonight, adorned with the fashion of merriment,
And the subtle chill of October wind reds our lips,
Come Glory and Glory be to the faithful departed,
Happy Halloween!

Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, the boy wonder from Saltzburg
Started composing at five, I started at four but didn't have the urge
To be famous, 'twas not my plan
A very gentle and modest man
Just to live in anonymity with a harem to satisfy my quirks
(and if you believe that... )
Catch the sound of green petals
echo the thoughts of my mind
left with a weak feeling
while gently waving your thumb
lack of procrastination
Amadeus Theme
with its complex dynamics
The nightingale was full of happiness
in the sound of the melody wind
The azure sky glitters
got into me with their lyrics

Michael Cheval is a modern artist noted for his "Absurdist" paintings, sketches, and portraits. Cheval's art is a mystery. His artwork's title and graphics include hints of its secret significance. According to him, absurdity is the opposite of rationality. It's neither surrealist nor subliminal. His metaphorical art takes a trained eye to identify hidden allusions.
Roots of a choirboy
and the mystery of his love for music,
in the life of being...
the fair one!
Does anyone have a clue...
what the fair one goes through?
Franz will tell you,
and what about Chopin?
Amadeus will answer...
beyond anyone's imagination.
Lend me your ears!
Do we ponder the value
of hearing the cello play,
with sweet contrast of a clarion call...
for a clarinet's serenade?
And why do we spend
endless hours...
learning the study of treating the notes,
as a mere gesture?
Oh, my fair one,
does thy tender care
listen...
to any sensitivity here?
And how did you sing
those high notes...
when you were, but,
a boy?
Franz will surely tell you.
Go to him, once again,
in time!
And will you sing again,
my fair one,
as youth disappears...
and the leaves of fall begin?
And will your spirit live on...
through endless time?
Keep the music close to your vest,
you are blessed, indeed!
Why do I love Mr Rochester? Why do I think Jane Eyre should have fallen at his feet and worshiped him? Dear reader, it is for these few lines recorded below which he said to her after she found out that he kept his mad wife in a hidden upstairs chamber:
“You know nothing about me, and nothing about the sort of love of which I am capable. Every atom of your flesh is as dear to me as my own: in pain and sickness it would still be dear. Your mind is my treasure, and if it were broken, it would be my treasure still.”
Ah….the sort of love that makes novels what they are! A broken mind….yet there is still so much beauty in a broken mind….
Broken minds bring forth treasures:
in the world of art..Van Gogh…
in the world of literature…Edgar Allen Poe…
in the field of music….Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart...
What is madness? What is a mental illness? Why do we shrink from those who struggle with depression, with suicidal thoughts, with self-loathing, with an inability to receive and give love? Do they love being that way, or do they curse nature for getting their wiring twisted, their emotions warped, and their minds broken? Broken minds still have beauty that is waiting to be discovered…treasures waiting to be uncovered…love waiting to be won. How do I know? I have a broken mind, and yet...there is so much beauty inside me waiting to be released. People may not understand, or accept...they may shun and avoid, but I'm confident in who I am and what I can accomplish. I'm in good company.
I love listening to Bach on late evenings, especially his flowing ‘Ave Maria’,
just as I like tuning in to Schubert’s ‘Ave Maria’, far too many Ave Marias!
Nothing compares to Beethoven’s ‘Moonlight Sonata', it’s simply beautiful;
George Handel had he lived would have found Ludwig’s piece rather cool.
Amadeus Mozart, truly he was a musical genius, that Austrian son-of-a gun,
it’s high there among the classics, the elegant ‘Theme from Elvira Madigan’.
Give me Antonin Dvorak’s ‘New World Symphony’, so serenely majestic,
that, like Tchaikovsky’s ‘Concerto in 1st Movement’, creates instant magic.
Let me tell you a little secret: my days in the cradle had long ago passed by
yet, till this day I drift off to dreamland with a few strains of Brahms’ ‘Lullaby’.
Chopin he tinkers with his piano dreamily, that young romantic Polish chap -
etudes, nocturnes, mazurkas, you name it, though he could not do hip-hop.
I adore the songs of Bobby Dylan, though not necessarily his croaky voice;
honestly, I prefer listening to other minstrels sing his tunes, if given a choice.
Joan Baez, Joni Mitchell and Judy Collins, those gals sounded to me so fine;
I once volunteered to produce them but they said “Are you out of your mind?”
Could not do nothing with the three J’s, so I turn to Lennon & McCartney
who once rocked my childhood with their irresistible “yeah, yeah, yeah”.
Leonard Cohen, does that man ever smile? so moody and stark his music
but I love him anyway, though figuring out his lyrics often makes me sick.
Denver and Donovan’s stuff are sugary for my taste at times I would say
and there are occasions when I crave for songs that sound kinda lonely.
So I often give way to my old buddy from country land, Kristofferson man,
and let his somber ‘Sunday Morning Coming Down’ get me all undone.
Sad songs, joyful songs, all styles, will they ever come in just one package?
so I won’t have to spend much on CDs that is straining my minimum wage.
Given those great musical influences I have painstakingly mentioned above,
it is a sure bet I am off to greatness if I just behave and do what I truly love.
Johann Sebastian Bach
composed concertos that rock
Ludwig von Beethoven
gave us music for roamin' and rovin'
Austrian composer Johann Strauss
the popularity of waltzes widened
An Amadeus Mozart violin solo
sparkles with a glass of bordeaux
When on these composers folks take a pass
~ they miss out on a classical gas
What if Amadeus Mozart had a gameboy?
Would his concerto have come to mind?
What if Ludwig van Beethoven had a PS3?
Would his ears be okay and his eyes gone blind?
What if Vincent van Gogh had a digital camera?
Would he have been a great photographer?
What if Claude Monet had an PSP?
Would his vision have still start to blur?
What if Shakespeare had a computer?
Would he write more plays with Word?
What if Emily Dickinson had a Laptop?
Would more than 7 poems have been heard?
What if T. C. Cannon had Adobe Photoshop?
Would he still create native history?
What if I lived in their times?
Would I still write my poetry?
