The Drag of Writing

A smidgeon of silly,
a scintilla of sad,
a wee gong of rhyming wit,

a sentence to start me
a participle dangling
a lead to bring me to it,

a last ditch lurch to my
personal God, who says
“this is not worthy of prayer”

six single words is all I need
for my fingers to fly with a flourish,
a little ole ‘v’ to victory,

parse me up
and parse me down
I’ll carelessly click the keys,

till I alphabetically ache
and a roll of the dice
brings a poem for the centuries

Is that how THEY did it
Longfellow and Poe?
I’m not so sure they were so slow.

Premium Member Imagination

This book of botanical images
in sepia depict the petals, veins, leaves
of exotic plants. Listed alphabetically are illustrations
with a reader's favorites’ marked with string;
carefully indexed, scientific, dun-drab
they conceal the dream of translucent petals,
leaves that reflect green light, adaptive roots.

In idle fancy, a dreamlike flower unfolds
upright from the page.

Premium Member Her Many Hats

When I was young my mom, like most women, donned a hat when she went out.
Dad said it added to her beauty…of this I had no doubt.

My mom had a collection of hats she stored in boxes under her bed.
So many different kinds of bonnets that sat atop her head.

Moms of today are different they go out with their heads bare
but one thing they share with Moms of the past are the many hats they wear.

If we tried to count the hats they don...we couldn’t...they go on indefinitely
Perhaps one way to approach it...is alphabetically.

Moms are:
Accountants
Babysitters
Chauffeurs...they do what
Doctors and
Electricians do…they are
Farmers
Governors
Housekeepers, and
Ice cream makers too…they are
Janitors
Kitchen and
Laundry workers, and
Maids who clean the floor…they are
Nurses
Optometrists,
Painters
Quality control inspectors and furthermore they are
Receptionists
Seamstresses and
Teachers…they can
Upholster that sofa or that chair…they are
Valets
Washroom Attendants and
X-Ray technicians…ready anytime and anywhere…they are
Yard managers and every Mom I know is also a keeper of the
Zoo
That’s 26 different hats they wear…
26 different jobs that all Moms do.

Moms are the original and still the best multi-taskers the world has ever met.
In fact, I didn’t run out of hats for them...I ran out of alphabet!

I guess it’s a good thing each job doesn’t have a hat that sits atop Moms head
for there wouldn’t be enough room to store the boxes under their beds.

They are visionaries, they are cheerleaders, so much of our existence they adorn
yet they had no experience as a mother until the day when we were born.

Because it was at that miraculous moment, despite their fearfulness and qualms
when they smiled as they looked at us and realized……’I’m a Mom.’

For that is the hat that encompasses the rest...the hat we call motherhood
and I must admit, from where I stand
Moms…you make that hat look good.

So Moms, here’s to a wonderful Mother’s Day as this poem bids you all adieu
For all the many hats you wear…
our hats are off to you.

Lick Your Lips - Limerick

Lick Your Lips - Limerick

An old man chronologically aging
Ate foods quite gastronomically raging
He digested word soups
With phonetic sound groups
Which left him alphabetically phrasing

A Matter of Creativity

Capital letter …

Right now, please note: it is time to dust, not write.

Dust was eating away this besieged body;
Amassing with all the misery that delights in ambush.
It crept into secret crevices,
Quietly dulling senses, as it blended in;
Softly choking, mimicking flu,
Before weaving a blanket so thick
It embraced and insulated;
Gently burying body under the weight of
An elephantine duvet with speaking tongues.

Write now, right now that house pride has succumbed to ash
As caked and empty cans and bottles decorate.
The dustman hurried by the empty drum
For rubbish barricaded the front door.

The inconvenience: to eat, drink, shop, to pay bills
Without leaving one’s desk these days.
Friends and adversaries seep out of pens,
Alphabetically springing to colourful life.
Who dares miss a thought so precious, so elusive –
Might never occur again.

So grasp it, rack it; right, left lobe battle dire emotions and reason.
Let dust prevent thoughts from leaving from whence it came.
Incarcerate all grey matters.
Now one can write how it feels to have dust as qwerty companion.
Then fling open the door,
Let light and the world in.
Shout: “I write because I can.”
Full stop … Exclamation mark!
End.

(PS: begin again.)

This World of Colored People

"This World Of Colored People"

This planet Earth of ours is inhabited and overrun with so many "Colored People!"
They are everywhere one turns and try as one may, no one can escape them!
NO ONE!
Alphabetically, "Black, Brown, Red, White and Yellow" are colors most everyone knows! Everyone who can see knows these colors!
So who are these "Colored People?"

1) Black is a color! It is also a color used to describe a race of people on this planet!
Therefore the "Black" race is comprised of and full of "Colored People!"

2) Brown is a color! It is also used to describe a race of people on this planet!
Therefore the "Brown" race is comprised of and full of "Colored People!"

3) Red is a color! It is also a color used to describe a race of people on this planet!
Therefore the "Red" race is comprised of and full of "Colored People!"

4) White is a color! It is also used to describe a race of people on this planet!
Therefore the "White" race is comprised of and full of "Colored People!"

5) Yellow is a color! It is also used to describe a race of people on this planet!
Therefore the 'Yellow" race is comprised of and full of "Colored People!"

"Colored People" are everywhere!
The common thread amongst all Human Beings is that Human Beings are "Colored People!"

Now a word of warning to the "Colored People" of this planet Earth!
Beware of "those" who do not fit in amongst we "Colored People" or look like us!
They will be very easy to spot!!!
HOW SO???

1) They will be Blue people! (Beware! They may call themselves "Smurfs!")
2) They will be Purple people ! (Beware! They may be "Eaters!")
3) They may be Green people! (Beware! They WILL be full of "Envy!")
4) They may be Orange people! (Beware! They may be on the "Juice!")

So if any of these types of "Color people" are spotted, report them right away for they are NOT the real "Colored People" of the planet Earth!
In conclusion, the "Colored People" of the planet Earth are "Beautiful People" because they are "People of Color!" The Human Race!
Observe "Colorful" Nature!

Thank YOU GOD for not making the Human Race transparent and see through!
What a mess that would be if the "Colored People" of the planet Earth were
completely "colorless!"
Hmmm! For better or for worse?!?!?

Unmatched

With lots of socks that look alike,
It’s hard to make a pair.
To try to find the perfect match,
You need some time to spare.

My husband solved the problem, though,
His gym socks the intention,
Which proves that yes, necessity’s
The mother of invention.

On every sock, he made a mark –
First A, then B, then C;
The mate received a matching letter,
Alphabetically.

A Sharpie was his tool of choice
To keep the letters bright
In contrast to his many socks
In varied shades of white.

So from the dryer, out they pour,
Each waiting for its mate,
Which now is found so easily,
No question or debate.

It’s quite a shrewd solution
Though I think it’s also plain
That a plan like this would never come
From any woman’s brain!

S it starts with S no arguments the EI could be the IE but the E is alphabetically
the foremost letter and IE seems wrong to mee then there is another S. It seems
so out of place but sounds so there it seems to me the S makes seismic sense.
The M is just the middle of the word caught between the EIS and the ending. The
ending is the IC it seems to me to be less forcefull AC would do better call it
seismac rhymes with smack see eh? And makes a much better and harder
word. The possibilities multiply immediately the Seismac Ocean. The Isle of
Seismac. The Seismac waves washed over the smurfer today as he sat android
like at his computer terminal in the shaded area. Everyone has favorite places
and webpages on the internet there is many such places a man will visit and tell
everyone about them but there is a few that he will never divulge the info even on
his deathbed he keeps the sign in log on secret.
He will sit and watch the movie while his best and only friend flips the simulation
cards to make the mouses ears move up and down. This is vanity and chagrin.
The up to the minute news is had while his only friend sits looking at the crystal
glass ball in an effort to determine what transpired in la la land. The news in
Africa is GOLD in America its OLD in Switzerland it's COLD in The Netherland it's
BOLD. The same seismac article of war zone policy states that upper echelon
read faster they get better weather and more money cake and laughter. Mein

the hills are red, the while away the time becomes the time is marching on the

feels it. Eye am seismac.

To My Man

My man from youth grew
  Your life was full of superiority;
  You dazzled and demarcated,
Who does not belong must be sacrifice,
And laughter were the mystery of your horror tales,
To all animals not wild should cut their tails,
Freudian legacy that governed the tribe of the bookish
And trickles down to wild youths,

The Mafioso cum in our midst
  As he found landlocked in:
  This is a, that is b and those c, d, and e,
  Alphabetically symbolize the allies
  Who seemed not to care;
  We washed different hoe-hands
  Together into the same potluck,
  But I decided to follow the king;
It is an experience, whatsoever or whatever,
  Expressed what I looked for,
And clapped a song: immortal invincible God only wise,

In the conclusion of the matter
All that needed done was half done,
And tomorrow packed belongs and begone,
Gone on mission and came back with some spoilt,
The pathetic sweet–hearts you hate to remember
The one there and here and lived with in ransom,
And terribly pity, the one discarded, multi-distressing,
With all diseases in her mouth and in belly,

The executioners used darkness to mask
And covered up in shielded shadows,
With weapons drawn and the meat
  Surefooted walked into the trap,
The in humans unleashed the superiority tussles:
  A dagger slit esophagus,
  Knife carved out eyelids
  Axes butchered wrists,
  Cutlasses designed gothic gashed all over;

Sliding and growling the pain shoot in his vein,
And tore through him the devastated dream,
Soon it was time to go as he lay
And the juice poured out of the vessel in torrents,
  To perish, eyes and mouth agape,  surprised;
To the moon looking down terrifying,

O! God we lack and want,
O! God provide us our daily bread,
O! God we are crying for injustice,

Mother cried of crushing, crashing heartbreak for
The lamentation of her killed beloved: 'Jealousy inflamed brawled'
Poor mama, she has not been there
  Even when she went there,
  In agony, sorrow and deep mourning, merely comforted;
But, Eman story had been contorted.
