Notes About The Poem

This was the perfect image for my poem that I saved on Photobucket years ago...and then Photobucket wasn't a free site anymore, I am thankful the image is still available but it has a watermark now. I give credit to the originator of this beautiful image but who is unknown to me.

Imagination

This book of botanical images
in sepia depict the petals, veins, leaves
of exotic plants.  Listed alphabetically are illustrations
with a reader's favorites’ marked with string;
carefully indexed, scientific, dun-drab
they conceal the dream of translucent petals,
leaves that reflect green light, adaptive roots.

In idle fancy, a dreamlike flower unfolds
upright from the page.

Cool way to get inspired! I feel like it belongs in some fantasy novel, it was very unique. The last two lines are my favorite though ... it's like a fantasy-esque haiku almost.
