Mohammed Ali
Cassius Clay
The Legend
He was not a humble man
Everything he did, was big and grand
He taunted and barbed with poetic flair
His opponents he angered
Entertainment in the air
He was a legend, bigger than man
A champion in the ring
He often took a heroic stand
Breaking barriers of narrow minds
He defined his style in his own time
His greatest feats were not title wins
Nor his taunts and bragging sins
Inside there was a more humble man
Who stood for the downtrodden in troubled lands
Full of humility he still could sting like a bee
In the end he floats away
A softer man, of a fighter’s heart
So shed a tear, for this complex legend
Whose humble beginnings’
The butterfly brought home to his roots
God brought him back to his beginning
Cassius Clay he was… and now lives in eternity
Freed not by name
But by convictions... of his
Good deeds
You looked up to the skies
Praying angels would guide your voyage… sigh
Away for the brutality, of Assad and his war
You escaped, brothers three in arms
Loving, and wanting to build a better score
Wishing peace and happiness, to bury all wars strife
Dreams of an engineer filled with hope and new life
The irony is that you would have to fear
Some engineer before you, who let the fires
Kill the poor the small and unspoken ones
Assad you see appears in many forms
Evil and greed often born of the same seed
I only say to you and your brothers
We weep for you, one and all, no one should suffer
I too now, have a dream
A building, beautiful, majestic and masonically tall
Named after a builder who lost his future in London’s fall
To the British elite who care not at all
Dignity belongs to all people, no matter small or tall
Muhammad Ali
Taunting with poetry,
His opponents he'd zing
As he danced 'round the ring.
There once was a boy Cassius Clay
Who dreamt to be greatest some day
When then in a bout
One punch in the mouth
On the canvas poor Liston would lay
Worse than Liston's performance that day
Were the lyrics by Robert Goulet
"Oh say can you see, by the dawn's early night"
Was as much of a flop as the fight!

You landed next to me while I was reading
Mahmoud Darwish in Arabic.
You said: "You really read this? Terrific."
I didn't know yet that this was leading
to a friendship right across all borders
to unite two hearts in pain.
How we both smiled, did not complain.
We went for coffee, and you ordered
for me, and then we talked,
you were from Iraq. A soldier in the War on Terror,
deserted. In your eyes the horror
so present after all these years, you walked.
You couldn't kill, you said, your hands were shaking,
so I wrote your letter to your wife and son
who were still there, although the war was done...
you can't go back, that godforsaken
war kills more than people: it kills humanity.
When will your family be here?
You are too far from those so dear,
they suffer from the world's insanity.

Some senior military seized power in Gabon today,
Ali Bongo 's family led the country
in fifty five years under umbrella
of French government as there were protected
The so called French interests to be on power.
Today President Ali Bongo is informing
the world about his arrestation by the military.
He does not know where could be his son
and family as they are in different places.
The senior military accused him of stealing votes
for third time so that he could continue
to rule like a puppet of some westerners
While the people continue to suffer here and there.
Many young African leaders are tired of fake promises
of some selfish politicians who care for themselves
and continue allowing African natural resources
to cross the seas due to some agreement
with some western countries
which could not reach fifty years
after so called independence and democracy
in west and central Africa.
It is eighth coup d' états in Africa from 2020 to today
as many Africans wish some regimes change.
It will be wise for French government officials to say
loudly " good bye Africa as they are no longer welcomed."

He could float like a butterfly
Sting like a bee
He was the greatest
Muhammad Ali
(Today is his 70th birthday)
A very famous champion,
an inspiring enthusiastic man was he
Who has now departed , yet is quoted,
for many pearls of wisdom
Vociferous king ,
of the boxing ring
A sports star
And such a sport too.
A motivating peace star who shot up to deserved stardom
The earth be proud of such mortal "clay"
Who swayed and reigned hearts,
as well as the pugilist's kingdom
Notes: about the boxing Great:
These below are the selected facts about Muhammad Ali that I personally found very interesting:
First of all that he had the same birthday as my beloved bro Alihur i.e 17th Jan,

Cassius Clay was born and raised inLouisville, Kentucky, and began training as anamateur boxer when he was 12 years old. At 18, he won a gold medal in the light heavyweight division at the 1960 Summer Olympics in Rome, and converted to Islam shortly afterwards. At 22, he won the WBAand WBC heavyweight titles from Sonny Liston in 1964. Clay then changed his legal name from Cassius Clay, which he called his "slave name", to Muhammad Ali, and gave a message of racial pride for African Americans and resistance to white domination during the 1960s Civil Rights Movement.[12][13]
He was known to for freestyled with rhyme schemes and spoken word poetry, boxing and as political poetry for his activism,
My hands are tender
I laugh with my own
Death I own life nothing
Others fear my friends
I talk for hours with my death
Do not fear my friends
You cry when I sleep
Death knows and understands
Men and their few words
The man was a legend.
So farewell, Cassius Clay, Ali
You knocked out a bit of poetry
That butterfly one sure packed a sting
And well done on the boxing thing
Mohammed, man, you’re counted out
You gave the boxing thing a shout
Wrote rhyme to make a grown man cry
And dodged the draft like a butterfly
Ali, you’ve packed your final punch
Man, you took boxing out to lunch
Men say that you are God today
Who made Mohammed out of Clay

Boxing heavyweight king, Muhammad Ali,
was quick and strong, but also used psychology.
He'd let himself get pummeled, giving foes false hope -
like to George Foreman in Manila, his first "rope-a-dope."
*Rope a dope is a technique that Ali perfected when he
beat George Foreman. By just taking a beating to his
stomach as he leaned back into the ropes of the boxing
ring and letting the ropes absorb the force of those
blows, he was able to tire Foreman out and then let
him have it!!!
Young Ali Abass
He lain in a Baghdad hospital,
They said he had no hope.
Maimed and lost his family,
How did that young lad cope?
Torn apart by warfare,
So-called freedom for Iraq.
Try telling that to young Ali Abass,
He can't have his family back.
In an allied attack he lost his arms,
Lost his brother, his mum and his dad.
He had burns all over his torso,
So much pain for an innocent lad.
And yet that brave boy bears no grudges,
New arms though prosthetic they be.
He came to Great Britain to get them,
The joy on his face plain to see.
I'm sorry young man, for the hurt and the pain,
For the loss of your family too.
If only we could turn back time,
This would never have happened to you.
Standing in front of the hidden entrance
On horseback, with loud sacks
Clinking as loot hit loot.
With smiles of satisfaction adorning their faces
The chief said the magic words, and in went the team;
Safe from the spoiled, safe from the world,
Ready to go back out and lay misery on poor souls

"BRUCE And ALI"
*Written and Dedicated to "Silent One!
whose admiration for these two is as
mine!*
This is a poem about two men
who were both extraordinary!
Their skills were unmatched
and remain so to this day-
one's named
"BRUCE"
and the other
"ALI!"
Both were
"Masters"
and really excelled
in the world of combative arts!
They are both now
"legends"
and will be forever-
for in their time
they had no
counterparts!
One was a master boxer,
"The Heavyweight Champion"
was he!
In the sport known as
"the Sweet Science"
"The Greatest Of All Time!"
was he, you see!
His bouts were against
the best in his class!
His style posed a problem
with which to cope!
He even came up
with a name for it...
he called it the....
"Rope-A-Dope!!!"
There is a phrase
he's now famous for!
It is quoted often,
you see!
Who's never heard
and doesn't know-
"Float Like A Butterfly-
Sting Like A Bee!!!"
Now Mr. Bruce Lee,
he was one of a kind!
There has never been another!
This man could do things
with his hands and his feet-
anyone he faced
he "REALLY"
could smother!
He gave a line
in one of his films
when an intimidator
tried a new tack!
The guy broke a board
trying to threaten Bruce...
Bruce look right at him
and said
"Boards Don't Hit Back!!!"
He was also quite
the philosopher.
His style was called
"Jeet Kune Do!"
He said
"Be Like Water, My Friend!",
and like water
you must always "flow!"
Now these two men
are heroes of mine
and forever will they be!
One is....
"The Dragon",
the other is
"The Greatest Of All Time!"
They are "BRUCE"
and the other's....
"ALI!"
"ALI!"
"ALI!"

Smoking Joe Fraser, no sting as a bee…
That knack resides with Mohammed Ali!
Though killer in Manila…
Very persistent fellow,
Smoked the rope a dope folly, by golly!

I take your look most seriously.
Seriously.
I take that look furiously.
In my journey I be.
Waiting at the finish line I imagine time after time.
Inside wine after wine bottle
With each key stroke
I wonder
What you will think.
With each love
In each moment
Its simple to you
But not here
Its easy for you to love me.
But I only know I love writing
And that I’m alone.
I have yet to really meet your beautiful soul.
So if you must smile and walk
Walk smiling up to my front door.
And if you don’t like it cheesy,
Take it easy
-champ.
You’re the greatest,
but that’s not poetic
But some things you have to make clear
so you don’t regret it.
