Premium Member Foliage Afire

The very first week of every October
Bright yellow, orange, amber, purple and red
Splash artistry on New Hampshire’s White Mountains
As the tourism season comes to a head

North Conway’s old railroad station is abuzz
Men in traditional conductor attire
Escort sightseers to seats with pane-free windows
To peer out at landscapes in colors of fire

The spectrum on dappled mountains evokes awe
Caught by camera lenses as cool winds blow
Offering a chilly reminder to all
That these peaks will soon be blanketed by snow

Clickety-clack, the train hugs its aged track
Freeze-frame photograph images will remain
Recalling the splendor of fall’s peak foliage
Until spring breathes life to the mountains again

Soul Afire

" Soul Afire "

Our deep and heartfelt passion stirs
as good friends grow closer still
a friendship is blooming into love
please love this friend now if you will.

My darkness lit by your glowing flames
your meaningful desire is burning bright
our heart beats together now just as one
this blooming love is a beautiful sight.

Our passion grows with each gentle touch
your eyes, your breath and your pretty hair
our souls have joined for this precious love
it is our friendly love affair.

To be the one with you my friend
its all I think of and desire
you are the one I need and want
you have set my Soul Afire...

Premium Member Sky Afire

Bright, out-shimmering the stars,

          Venus, Jupiter and Mars ...

               Each November, guard the moon,

     Whilst the Seven Sisters swoon.

Stars that swim a sea instead,

Mars is blushing, cheeks so red ...

               Moon and Venus kiss, adored,

     Swoon for Jupiter, their lord.

Premium Member Hearts Afire

Clad in a negligee, I hear him whisper, “Come to me.”
Demurely I withdraw, but he rushes to me filled with passion.
Taking me in his arms, he kisses me, setting hearts afire.

Premium Member Set Us Afire

The sun went behind cobalt clouds
Once again, but came out
Leaving those clouds 'pon the horizon
Those sunbeams now so stout

Clouds slowly thicken come together
Almost block the sunbeams
Gradually slowly the sun's covered
But its presence is supreme

As the water sprinkler clicks round
Hangs up in the tulip tree
Its presence becomes so much quieter
Reducing the noise with ease

The sun is completely covered
Daily sounds come alive
Baying hounds, songbirds, and tires spin
Each with its own wive

Down where the mimosa blossoms
Areas become drier
Each day, help us by restoring
Your Spirit, set us afire

stout--meaning here is dependable

To Keep Our Torches Afire

When gray, we are away
 From light that brightly shines
As if around under a cloud
 We roam, spirit forlorn.
 Our thoughts turn inward
And we dwell in a well
 Of self righteous indignation
Which harrows down to our bone marrow
 And sap our energy trapped
 By an arraign of complain.
 The body stricken get sickened
Little will drugs do to reconstruct
For it had all begun without the sun
And we chose to complain and blame
Outside forces for the extinct of our torches.

We must then choose not to loose
Life is too precious to waste in recession
When we are endowed with a soul
 That constantly strives for sunshine.
We realize that we can choose to shine
We realize that our precious eyes
Were given to look outward to things of wonder
Not to ourselves to seek to delve
Upon the shelf of a museum, kept
Tied to tinted glass like shackles.
And while we sway in the gray
 So consumed with our costumes
We did not see the sudden sunbeam
That broke through to reach to the yoke
Of our awesome fabric, connected to His
To lead us all to a haven we call heaven.

Premium Member September's Song

The summer sun begins to chill,
as Autumn sings September's song.
A briskness falls upon the hills,
days now don't tarry quite so long.

As Summer leaves, she blows a kiss
to lovely blossoms, soon to fade.
Leaves on trees await Autumn's bliss
to preen in red and gold parade.

An artist's dream, those royal hues,
as though the trees must be afire.
No room to spare for lilac-blues
songs of September: heart's desire.

She leaves us with a lust for more.
October opens splendor's door.

A Psalmist Afire

A PSALMIST AFIRE
God is a righteous God.
He is dynamic via The Word.
He is visionary through his people.
        My creator is he.
When I call on him, he is there.
Never in vain do I go in prayer.
        He illuminates my person.
        My persona must adjust.
As the soul solidifies,
        the blood of the savior
        who died on the cross
        is ceremonial.
As the ink scrolled, the pin inscribed.
        A Psalmist spirit is afire.
        God is a righteous God.
He is dynamism via the Holy Scripture.

Man Afire

I burn to leave a legacy
I burn hot and bright
That others might find safety
In the warmth of my light.
Brightly burning in the night.

Such a quest a slave makes
Servant to others be
Yet may never I dim or take
Another's light from thee
That my brethren be set free.

Shadows strong and dark
Follow close, upon my heels
Ever stalking their mark
With never-ending zeal
Hungry for their next meal.

But for you, my injured friend
Adversaries though we were
Let us senseless strife, end,
From each other remove the burrs
And each other's safe passage, assure.

Premium Member Candles Lit Afire

There were candles lit afire overlooking New York City
Placed there by the mournful, with heart’s so full of pity
In the park that had a view of a horizon oh so pretty
On the night of 9/11, following a day that really hit me
In memory of those lives, whose candles burned out quickly
We stood there searching for two towers that we can’t see

by Joe Flach for Russell Sivey's "By Candlelight" contest.

In memory of those firends I lost on that day.

An ad-hoc memorial of candles, pictures and letters was created at Eagle Rock Reservation in West Orange, NJ on 9/11 and the days that followed, where people gathered, cried and prayed at an overlook on First Mountain with a spectacular view of NYC. Years later, this park was made into a formal memorial for those souls lost on 9/11.

Sparks Afire

bright skies swallowed by darkness
sparks of love set afire

glowing flames at my back
guide my way through the gloom
moving slow fearing whats lost
looking back I get burned
reminding me there's nothing left

Iv found my home
just enough rain to not get burned
just enough light to know I'm alive

I hope you find your light
brighter then i could shine
don't worry about me
ill be just fine.

Heart's Afire

This passion
is flowing,
like a river
raging.
Igniting
the flame,
and fanning
the fire,
of our desires.
As our bodies,
and souls,
come together
as one,
we'll soar,
to the heavens,
while reaching
total bliss,
as we surrender,
to sweet ecstasy.

Premium Member Heart's Afire

When you share your heart
To a beckoned call
The day you start
You risk it all

If love is sealed
The words are spoken
A heart is healed
Or a heart is broken

If your heart runs dry
It may never heal
So don't rely
On sex appeal

But when it's true
Your heart's afire
Then give into
Your heart's desire

Premium Member Afire With Passion

Feel the fire that burns in my heart
Draw nearer, you’ll find I’m ablaze
Desire is tearing me apart
This thing called love is madness, craze

Sweat trickles down upon my chest
I smolder with longing for you
You stoke the fires and do your best
To emit flames of sapphire blue

Douse this blaze with passion’s sweet kiss
Let me melt in your warm embrace
Not to act now would be remiss
I burn, I yearn to stroke your face

Symphony Afire

HERE-IS THE SAME
HERS-WAFTS LIKE A FEATHER
SWEET HONEY INNOCENCE
DRIPPING
HE-IS OF SOFT LEATHER
HEAVY, BLACK
UNFATHOMABLE
THEY-BITE AND STING
THEY CARESS THE AIR
FLOW LIKE MUSIC
CARRY ON THE WIND
DANCE INTO THE FLAMES
MELT INTENTIONS
THEIRS-IS HARMONY
SYMPHONY.
