September's Song

The summer sun begins to chill, as Autumn sings September's song. A briskness falls upon the hills, days now don't tarry quite so long. As Summer leaves, she blows a kiss to lovely blossoms, soon to fade. Leaves on trees await Autumn's bliss to preen in red and gold parade. An artist's dream, those royal hues, as though the trees must be afire. No room to spare for lilac-blues songs of September: heart's desire. She leaves us with a lust for more. October opens splendor's door. September 3, 2022

You've really got that inbetween-ness of September. Then October splendor! Very nice. Elizabeth

This is lovely, Ann. I often write sonnets with 10 syllables, but I must say, I like the flow and meter of the 8 syllable version.

Thanks, Jeff. I much prefer 10 syllables in just about everything. I feel cramped with 8, but did it anyhow. :) Funny how liberating 2 more syllables can be!
