Man Afire

I burn to leave a legacy I burn hot and bright That others might find safety In the warmth of my light. Brightly burning in the night. Such a quest a slave makes Servant to others be Yet may never I dim or take Another's light from thee That my brethren be set free. Shadows strong and dark Follow close, upon my heels Ever stalking their mark With never-ending zeal Hungry for their next meal. But for you, my injured friend Adversaries though we were Let us senseless strife, end, From each other remove the burrs And each other's safe passage, assure.
