Best Addition Poems
The newest addition to my family
My bro-in-law christened him Milo
Another named him Jimmy
He’s more like a Chuckie
to me—driving me loco
The greenest eyes
He’s pretty lucky
He loves pink salmon
and playing catch
with crumpled paper I toss,
the unwanted poems I scratch
Biggie (aka) needs weight loss
I tumbled as I stepped over him,
A simple little thing
By eliminating gravy ‘til he gets slim
Pet adopting
It’s what the New Year will bring
THE CITY
a respite
an evening silence
all objects quiet
yet this clamorous echo
fills my head
the city
with everything to do
lots of excitement
but here am i
atop my quiet mountain
i’m a city boy
this I want everyone to know
in echo lake
just a misplaced big fish
in a little pond

colors dividing
painted on fractions
brillants multiple into...
peacocks algebra
colors divide
all birds counting fowl into
math answers flying
all birds colorful
outside of their nesting
bird mathematics
pale vision of sum
brillants multiple into..
math birds colorful

I got sick, hospital sick, like death's kiss,
but I survived or I would not be writing this;
I had surgeries but this story is about- my high thriller,
it is about the drug Fentanyl a powerful pain killer.
Much stronger than Morphine to control the pain,
and after six months imagine an addiction gone insane;
I came home addicted and knew I was in trouble,
and lost in a drug induced crazy bubble.
Decided to take myself off Fentanyl slowly,
I would thrash like a lunatic saying words unholy;
well, after many weeks, I came down to earth,
I was free again to be me, it was like a rebirth.
Now, hear on the news that people are dying,
from taking Fentanyl and I feel like crying;
it can be a killer and must be treated with respect,
or your life will become nothing but a wreck.

Sparks of inspiration fueled frisson building, crafting,
designing, a gamut of glorious finished products, that
offset bereft reaction dad experienced at workplace.
Seventh heaven for him found in the cellar at "Glen
Elm", where freelance dadaist artist, this detail
potential heresy if management got wind of dough
less than enthusiastically firstly sprouted out
(then whispered down the ally) far from domain dollars
doled re: paycheck. When off hours prevailed, thee
extremely adroit, deft, galvanized phalanges (tethered
at the wrist) wrought living, fascinating breathing
blueprints (formerly figments) alive. Thy paternal
parent poured heart and soul into self concocted
projects summoned forth from lathe as an artisan,
whose abundant treasured trove housed innovative
creations (now long since dashed to smithereens,
when the faded glory sans 324 level road defeated
against wrecking ball minus Miley Cyrus).
Now, he evinces considerably less inconsolably
distraught bereavement since securing love from
a lovely lady, unlike me mum as night and day),
idle dextrous hands remain retired of my
octogenarian widower papa, no longer
plies adeptness commanding manual co
ordination once coaxing finished product. Emotional
grief wrought via death of Harriet (the bride he
wedded well nigh 'bout a half century in duration),
and remained faithfully married, her death
(more'n a dozen years ago), viz grim reaper stoled, snatched,
snagged his loving mate. Twas for her eyes
he contrived, finessed, harnessed his ingenious joy.
Every moment precious to be savored
Zephyr breath soft sweet welcome
Entering hearts in coy fashion
Keeping thoughts of heaven near.
Innocence shines through wraps of cotton
Eclipsing both sun and moon
Love's legacy incorporated into you.
Wrote this for a new addition to the family. Babies are such a blessed addition. This was for my niece's son who was born at only 36 weeks. (a month early) I'm getting updated pictures regularly.
The wrecking ball long since
demolished boyhood house zen
located at 324 Level Road,
a once rural residence,
which soulful yen
I called home
since February 28th, 1968, when
Boyce and Harriet Harris
(my octogenarian
widower father, a transplanted urban
cowpoke father, and late outskirts
of poker flats mother) than
experienced livingsocial in the country,
cuz aforesaid domain didst span,
and encompass,
one hundred plus acre estate
listed in national register
as "Glen Elm", where ran
woodland surrounding a golden pond
favored by Canadian Geese,
but under game plan
of commercial developer Donald Neilson

"all business no play doh" man

on the hillside ditty
Little boxes made of ticky tacky...gritty
material upending wildlife refuge,
ah...what a pity
yet, impossible to stop industrialization,
the das capital way
spurring thy preferential longing
for nature preservation oye vey,
and to make a million bucks in USA
if land left off limits
for propertied class today
then in the near future,
an aggressive builder will sashay
confirming prophecy
scooping up gobs of profit
out maneuvering competition
analogous to a marathon relay
race quickly witnessing little boxes
to sprout all the same
by construction workers,
who hammer away,
nailing steady income,
viz all work and no play,
who maxim eyes
American middle class dream
asper buying affordable home
after acquiring a mortgage to outlay
their limited choice sans, may
be there's a green one and a pink one
and a blue one and yellow one, how zing
free enterprise, and they're
all made out of ticky tacky
held together on a wing
and prayer they all look
All I could afford
Was loitering at Stu Wards
Having a draft
Rooty tooty in beer craft
When suddenly
It was not funny
A feeling I was done
No longer welcome
It was twilight gleaming
Star struck with meaning
Then like it was on cue
Supporter fan Echo Zulu
Exclaimed Woo Hoo
Leaving these resentful two
Screaming critically boo boo
This attitude made me leave
After wiping my foul mouth on me sleave
Headed then to an Italian kitchen
Hour close to be witching
Stomach needing protection
Pizza Bianca was the late-night selection
Winning the food fetish election
Took some time
Enjoyed the dine
Before taking a joy ride
No needing a guide
Up the scenic rout
To the twin lights where I was going to shout
From the paved cliff viewing defined Corniche
Independent from any financial commitment leash
Making a wish
Dreaming a gigantic fish
Will work with my look
Baited on the photogenic hook
Still at peace
About the decision giving me a release
On their terms
Being concern
Staying firm
What was learned
Feeling burned
Interpreting the modern games rules
Written by fools
Stating to have success
Reported in the press
You need fortune and fame
For everyone to know your name
Standing here I do declare
Showing a glaring stare
Sending out a dare
Stating nothing can compare
Since success came to me fair
And square
Leaving power players professionally scared
Men do love sensuous naked girls
Pervocatively posed do their caresses
Engulf the male’s fantasy world
Purged in dark secrets
The male’s mind explores
Only to give heart
To a make believe girl
Day-in day-out man battles within
Until man’s addition is no longer self-viewed sin
Men do love the casino’s glitzy lights
With cards in hand or to roll the dice
To wager it all in-spit of family needs
Man flies to Sin City then crawls home on knees
Sorry proclaimed to all the loved ones
Seven times seventy forgave
Man makes a promising plea
Until a week’s work and money in hand made
Again to go -does man make plan
Beguiled by trickster until man has none
Day-in day-out man battles within
Until man’s addition is no longer self-viewed sin
So pray do man’s beloved unto God who saves
Remove this addiction and cast it away
Give beloved man the strength to open self-eye
The reflection of sin will gall man’s eye
Day-in day-out that man will battle within
Until man’s addition is plainly self-viewed sin
MORE THAN LOVE
I've looked in eyes so blue they made me soar
through all the gifts of life, this much and more
to challange me to things that could not be
unless had been aroused the very soul of me.
I've seen the smile that makes the heart to sing
and raise me to the best that life can bring
to be the very most that I can ever be
and write each word her smile has ever put in me.
I've breathed the very same and fragrant air
and for a moment had this thing to share
with she, who made my life to soar above
the limits of my own, and more than love.
I just want to be the one
I just want to be the one you love.
That's how I feel about you.
I just want to be the one.

ADDITION SHORT
I was short on addition
And I couldn’t subtract the different
My heart and mind was divided
2-+2 was 4 no more
And I couldn’t subtract the different
Multiply the fractions rounded up to 8
2+2 was 4 no more
Had to take the eraser, wipe off all numbers and recalibrate
Multiply the fractions rounded up to 8
2+2 was 4 no more
My heart and mind was divided
Had to take the eraser, wipe off all numbers and recalibrate
I was short on addition

Thus decades on end, my father remained

“An Addition to The Canterbury Tales”
By Nicholas Giro
There was also a CANDYMAN, a fine seller of his trade,
Who went along the countryside selling the candies he made.
He was a portly, jolly, and merry fellow
Who always wore red and blue, avoiding the color yellow.
With his short and spiky hair that was painted with smoke,
Many-a-child he did cause to become broke.
Opening his chest of delicious wonders inside,
He enticed the little children, though they didn’t know he had lied.
Oh, what an act he could put on for the sport
That he could have entertained in the king’s royal court!
He told the children that his goods could save lives,
Giving them invincibility so that they could even smack bee hives.
He carried an old sack that held his chest with the treats that could please
The children’s ignorant palates, giving them cavities.
For that was his goal – to rot each and every tooth,
Without expressing the much needed truth.
But he was an honest man who always held his head high,
Going by the motto, “A half truth is a whole lie.”
