Notes About The Poem

Newest Addition

The newest addition to my family
My bro-in-law christened him Milo
Another named him Jimmy
He’s more like a Chuckie
to me—driving me loco
The greenest eyes
He’s pretty lucky
He loves pink salmon
and playing catch
with crumpled paper I toss,
the unwanted poems I scratch
Biggie (aka) needs weight loss
I tumbled as I stepped over him,
A simple little thing
By eliminating gravy ‘til he gets slim
Pet adopting
It’s what the New Year will bring

Wonderful tribute to your new cat. I especially like the discarded poems as paper balls, an instant cat plaything. Nothing like recycling. Thank you for this delightful posting. Best wishes, Brian

Happy New Year! your poetic tribute to your new furry family member is a delightful journey. The playful naming process and endearing quirks of 'Chuckie'—adorably driving you 'loco'—paint a vivid picture. The imagery of his greenest eyes and playful antics with crumpled paper evokes warmth. Your resolution for his health adds a heartwarming touch, showcasing your dedication. A beautiful ode to the joy and responsibility of pet adoption, encapsulated in your heartfelt verses. - Blessings, Daniel

Gees thank you David-- a bit of imagery. Unlike dogs who'll fetch forever, cats get bored fast. He is, I do spoil him even though he hates my guitar strumming! Wishing you a happier and prosperous one! ((Glad you are back))

It helps, with these depressing times. Who can sleep. Milo is a pet, loves to be petted! Good Company. I'll be right there.

Never thought of the gravy ideal. But this is the second pet poem I read today. They inspire also.
