Premium Member Aboard the Titanic

Today I am about to embark on a journey
that I have waited for, for so long,
they say that this one is the safest ship
were nothing could ever go wrong.

As I stare down at the crowd, I think,
here I am, traveling on the R.M.S. Titanic,
this is the most exciting day of my life
and yet I feel a sense of anxiety and panic.

I calm myself by breathing in April's fresh air
and the sea's waves begin to roll and rock,
I close my eyes and feel the warm sunshine
as the ship finally departs from the dock.

Even though I'm not a first class passenger
I admire the grandeur of the White Star Line,
my few luxuries and the kindness shown to me
are enough to warm this heart of mine.

For Carolyn Devonshire's Past Lives Contest

I'm very interested in learning about the Titanic, but sometimes when I look at a
picture of the ship, I get this tremendous feeling of dread and fear. So much so,
that I cannot look at the photo any longer. I don't know where my fear of this
ship comes from. I have never been on a cruise or had any kind of traumatic
experience on a ship. Sometimes, I think that I may have been on the Titanic
in my past life. I don't know if I would have survived or not.

Premium Member Aboard the Titanic - Part 2

I stood alone on the ship's deck all afternoon
just to watch the sun sinking low on the sea,
the Atlantic ocean is so calm this evening
but, that old feeling of dread still bothers me.

I slowly exhale to calm myself once again
and my breath comes out in a white mist,
the air is slowly turning cold and frigid now
as the night's darkness pulls me into it's own abyss.

There is nothing that I can see out there now
except clear-white burgs of ice in the distance,
another odd feeling hits me that I cannot deny
but, how could ice play a role in my existence?

The sun's rising on April 15th will warm me
and I will escape this feeling of an early fate,
my entire body shudders for the very last time
as the sounds of breaking ice and bending iron reverberate.

This poem was inspired by Paul Callus, who suggested that a sequel
to my poem, "Aboard The Titanic", might make for an interesting read.

All Aboard

I am a driver
responsible for controlling starting,
stopping
and speeding.
I am a driver of a steam locomotive
a railway train powered through a steam engine.
and fueled by burning combustible material.

I shall evoke nostalgia,
I am goint to lead you hand i hand
To the simple delight
You’re going to experience an enormous plume of steam bursting
As the train as it pulls out of a station.

All aboard!!!!!
Dum di dum di dum
Around 100 different lines, we go
All part of the fantasy,
The ultimate romance of travelling by steam train.

Ladies and gentlemen
I am captain Nehpets Gnik
Welcome aboard.
This journey will take a week,
We shall meander along the coast at Torbay,
over viaducts,
past harbours and beaches with pastel-painted huts,
this is a 120 mile track taking us inland through the Devon countryside
From there to the Dart estuary.
Will will stay staying at local hotels
with more luxurious establishments along the way.

Dum di dum di dum
Dum di dum di dum
Dum di dum di dum

I hope you enjoyed our journey
Please don’t forget any luggage
Hoping to see you again.

All Aboard::

It’s time to board the Aircraft Carrier
You are welcome to step inside
Flying like a nitrous boosted harrier
That’s zooming down a greased up slide

The destroyer lurks on the horizon
We ready the poetic torpedo
In time for our dramatic liaison
Which will increase our verbal libido

I hope you look forward to reading our works
To bask in our poetic manner
Our ponderings have already irked
But our syntax is strong like an angry Bruce Banner

We will not be silenced by the Soup
We will stand tall to carry Aircraft
We will sometimes fly a loop-the-loop
We will poke you with our poetic shaft

All Aboard

All Aboard!
We are boarding the train of thought!
I hope you're prepared for this winding, twisting, and turning adventure
Please do not be startled by the complete transparent interior
Even though it seems like it nobody will see the real you no matter how hard they try
Let's begin!
Here we are at Happy Place, if you look to your right you can see simile sea
Off to your left you can witness metaphors meant for more than failed loved attempts
Let's move on
At this moment we are crossing over superhero bridge
If you look through the floor of our lovely T.O.T.
You can see Black Panther and Captain America fighting it out
Hulk and Thor, Superman and Batman, Spiderman and Ironman, all of these heroes having disputes
Don't think you're the only one having a hard time trying to figure out who's the hero or villian
Maybe it's just some type competition
Our Conductor himself lives competitions
Always putting odds against each other what he likes to call conflicting contradictions
Now we are entering the tunnel of dreams
Do not fret the darkness its always like that in here
Fasten your seatbelts because we all know dreams can come true
But don't forget nightmares are dreams too
Let's just rush through this like we do with any task
Who said we can't get it done right and fast
Okay, okay we made it through
Now through our final scenery before we get home
We are arriving passing through fantasy island
Best place to be
Matter of fact the facts of the matter let's just stay here and create our realities
Ice Cream camera to capture the sweetest memories
Now that's a Kodak moment
Kool Aid streams so potent that the coloring is permanent
Let's douse this whole realm in permanent and become full time residents
End the democracies, dictatorships, no more Presidents
It's evident that the evidence proves this is our world to make in any image
The best part of these fantasies
We decide when they are finished

All Aboard

Memories as sharp as diamonds,
keen as knives, the smell of
train smoke burns their nostrils still.

Chilly mornings, misty, magic,
gleaming rails so full of promise,
lumbering Leviathans,

wheezing, roaring, bound for Scotland
or the local seaside towns,
vacationers anticipating.

Dewdrops glisten, hush and listen
for the storied 8:09,
ready with their pens and journals.

Now steam and smoke are gone
along with locomotives' potent majesty,
would-be engineers who once were young,
with memories as keen and sharp as diamonds.

All Aboard - a Haibun

somehow we discovered that one could ride the lumbering freight train to the next
town if you lay waiting just before the long curve.. where it slowed and the
engineers view was blocked by the old pine forest.. everyone else already aboard..
my fat legs simply won't run fast enough.. I'll wait for them to return with the
afternoon train..

blackberry brambles
tearing at my skin.. I cried
the train whistle blew

I am stuck in a prison
	of inept indecision
		without a specific vision
			lacking exact precision.

I suffer from the stigma
	of this puzzling enigma
in a world with no charisma
void of pi but full of sigma.

My mouth espouses words
	but their meaning is absurd
		no integrity inferred
			as my vision becomes blurred.

As day turns into night
	with insomnia I fight
		my sanity has taken flight
			all sensibility is impolite.

To you I say farewell
my ship is set to sail
		I hear the boarding bell
on the cruise I take to hell.

Once Aboard the Desert Submarine

once aboard the desert submarine
anchored by the golden sundial
outlandish and phosphorescent
we crossed the greatness
of many drowned landscapes
fluxes of algae and shrewish freesias
cloistering up
dans le château à la lune
where the ragman’s lantern announces
the arrival of the fearful butter knight
he’s tattered and salted
the endangered specimen
straight from the cabinet of Walter Potter
the missing piece of a lifeless diorama
the granite giant of bronze ages
walking at the speed of light
he’s an itinerant vendor
and with his grand dexterity
he’ll get us before we
summon the witnesses
his crime forgotten
his crime simply victimless
once aboard the desert submarine
we’re outlandish and phosphorescent
and we’ll have our moon Halloween
and honeymoon of adolescence

All Aboard

On this day, a wee time ago_ after rough sails, you floated ashore. From life-giving waters, a brand-new soul_ for my eyes alone_ like unto one never-before. Bless my heart! Just look at that face_ round and chubby, beautifully graced in lace. Two sparkling eyes_ so full of surprise; Ten fluffy fingers, ten teeny toes. One binky-bitty button nose.

There is no other joy for me; not in this whole world, then my precious perfectly newborn_ baby girl! My very own someone to love and to care; to forever sail the seas within the life we share.

Welcome aboard my life-long friend! As I look upon her now as I remember her then. I still love every fuzzy hair on her chinny-chin-chin. Hawk-eyes cower o’er her year to year, be stills my heart upon ‘er smiles ear-to-ear. So much joy the day steady steps started walking, quickly turned exhausting ‘er munchkin mouth never stopped talking,

Wishful wondering perky eyes at learning to crawl_ sheer grit of the will-to-stand endures the pains of each fall. Loads of body aches whenever she was hurt or sad. Flash the shock of ‘er face the first time she got mean mad.

It seemed it took forever but you grew up fast. Tears come to eyes regretful of the time now past. Yet now you are all grown up and out on your own in the world. Just always remember you will forever be my precious perfectly newborn_ baby girl!

She's Going Aboard

I like the way you call me
I love the way; you care me
Every time you need something
You trick me up falling.

Please stay with me, don't leave me alone
Pullover my eye, please don't hide
Everything I need is, the looks you hide
Now or Never, not for us together

It's hard to take it anymore
the long-distance relationship
It's hard to take it anymore
Without hugs, love, and kisses

The memories we have together
Ice-cream in the park
Dancing in the dark
Will be the sweetest forever.
Please stay with me, don't leave me alone
Maybe this is the worst day of my life
As you're going aboard, going aboard, but
I am glad you'll be the soulmate of my life

While in the city, you need exact bus fare.
Without it, you can't go anywhere.
A trip across town you can easily arrange.
Have the right amount because the driver has no change.
Just hop aboard the bus and have a seat.
Commuting across town is fun and neat.

I used to ride waves on the deep blue sea,
A Sailor's life was the life for me.
It was the wildest thing I ever did,
I've been called Salty Dog and even Squid.

On a crusty deck, the hull painted gray,
We'd stow all the lines and be on our way.
A motley crew aboard the Dick E. Byrd,
Waiting for the Captain to give the word.

Heading South to the Indian Ocean,
Where the seas are calm and lacks the motion.
The only drawback was the blazing sun,
It was blistering skin for everyone.

The closer we got to the Equator,
The more we felt like a french fried tater.
You'd stand your watch by the light of day,
Or dead of night under the Milky Way.

When we could stop at a liberty port,
We'd all disembark for a little snort.
Some Jamaican Rum or Irish Whiskey,
A Tequila shot would make me frisky.

Then back to the ship with your heart content,
Thinking about the fun and money spent.
Cruising due North on a highway of foam,
Nursing hangovers on the voyage home.
