Like a warm cotton bud used to give inner ears a clean
there is something comforting about routine.
Knowing where you stand and the order of play,
knowing what to expect at every point in your day.
Living to a schedule, everything has it’s time and place -
knowing the slots you have free for any plans you need to make.
Wardrobe colour-coded, in garment order.
Wallpaper with a matching border.
Appointments at ten to, five to, on the dot.
Check, double-check, the doors are locked.
Yellow ball, green ball then pot the brown.
Big box, little box, upside down.
I like to gaze into the sky and dream, of an afternoon.
Relaxing. Like the scent of a chaste tree, when in bloom.
A cold glass of lemonade, a long and foamy bath,
humming along to the radio, a love that warms the heart.
Reading the Sunday paper, and making it an event,
the delightful things the kids say, things only they could invent.
His reputation precedes him: a disruptive, class clown.
Never completes his work, he’s always mucking around.
A big-mouth, show-off with far too much to say:
He asks if I ever considered teaching him in a different way.
‘A physical learner’ - he’s heard about it on the news.
There could be something in it…but I’ve far too much to do.
Cars whiz about, people in a hurry.
“I’ve waited over an hour for my curry.”
Twenty four seven lifestyle, word abbreviation.
Text message becoming the preferred means of communication.
Everybody rushing, to keep on schedule, to maintain status quo.
Everyone a cog in the system: You’re whipped, if you don’t row.
Seamless is the transition between asleep and awake,
when you just let it happen, not worry about being late.
An unrushed project results in a rewarding prize:
taking your time meant you got it right.
So bin the itinerary, flout the rules,
just for once why don‘t you try something new?
Bogdan Chmielnicki sits astride a horse
A magnificent statue in Central Kiev
To a monumental Ukrainian figure
A George Washtington-style liberator
He took it to the Poles in the 1600's
A lone Jew glances at Bogdan on his horse
Forgive him his disgust, of course, for
That Cossack and his army murdered
Nearly every Jew in Kiev -- on their way
To killing 600,000 Jews, one-third
Of the Jews then in Europe, during an
Unprecedented Reign of Terror...*
Leave Chmielnicki astride his horse
Let Ukraine celebrate Bogdan
~ without one ounce of remorse

*Chmielnicki's Reign of Terror is known
by the abbreviation 'Tach v'Tat,' which is
short form for the Hebrew calendar year
corresponding to 1648-49. The Cossacks'
genocidal campaign lasted through 1660.
Now 1738 there was born a man...
'name of Ethan Allen; his craw full'a sand,
Faced up to the guvenor of N Y, State..)
The green mountain boys would be part of his fate,
He took fort Ticonderoga as the hour grew late
This man of destiny; standing up to the plate,
As demands of imperial power hit nerves rubbed raw
Self-determination the watchword by tower and shore,
This flame a'burning makes its seat in their hearts
People "taxed over wars" wishing now to part,
The rest is history "how they made their stand..
Forced into conflict that led to freedom unplanned..!
A maverick Man

I crashed into a language barrier
So they put me in an induced comma
As they re-calibrated my damaged grammar
Transforming my full stop into a full start
As I wake from my abbreviation
I feel tense in the present
Realising that an apostrophe is now all
and nothing more I will ever be
I have a kindled yearning to compound
my spoken words with good intention
But I’ve become a symbol
that marks a past behaviour into memory
I stand in place of the person
whose ending is, with my start, synonymous
A person with their own tale
which I can read but can’t understand
It’s my story, but a rougher drafted version
Reading it I feel anonymous
Is this where I’m killed off but my character returns?
I find asylum asking questions, with an ampersand
And…
…The blurb on the back of life gives me the shorthand:
This is the punctuation that brings order
In the arc of your lived life
And if you see problems with recalled quotations
Then choose to learn, or live with strife
And…
I’m not ready to die
So here I am
Prepared with notation
The things I’ve seen and learned combined
Swapping the chip on my shoulder
For an indentation
And…
Don’t ever put down the pen while you’re still writing your history
And…

Speech of Tears – Zamreen Zarook
Drops of tears from our purl conveys a lot,
Each an every shedding has a ballot,
By identifying the core, our hands should allot,
Because, some might be extremely as shallot.
Chipper and blissfulness gives you cool tears,
Whereas in console and divesting flow hot tears,
Fear and pains give drains of tears,
Nothing that can be patch with dollars.
Some deliveries are automatic,
While some productions are acoustic,
Another drain says I am really bombastic,
Tears are at last solely cubistic.
They convey the emotions,
People go in search for solutions,
They become happy when they are with the precautions,
Reactions again as the tears, it’s the real abbreviation.

Donkey’s in the land of Israel in the 1st century,
Were used to carry goods about the country,
But could also carry women, children and the ill,
Because they were strong and quiet, did chill.
So when Jesus entered Jerusalem on that day,
On the Sunday before his crucifixion, away,
He deliberately chose a donkey to ride on,
To communicate effectively, with abbreviation.
A donkey was premium to the professions,
The areas industry’s for selling productions,
Which depended on donkeys for transportation,
For their future and reputation’s momentum.
So Jesus was saying by riding that donkey,
That he was key to the wave that they did see,
That how his death was remembered, thought,
Would determine the legacy that he’d wrought.
Also, he assumed a sensitivity by that ride,
A vulnerability that he had and he felt inside,
Because he took the place of a fragile person,
Suggesting that memories were your liaison.
So he won and achieved a triumphant entry,
Because he proclaimed himself Christianity,
And that, just like a child, he needs lifted up,
Onto the donkey, where there’s a warm cup.
"I" is my favorite pronoun,
but ...
"Me" wants a word-play showdown ...
for neither "Him" nor "Her", is what "I" and
"Me" once were
back in the days of "Us", "We" never did
discuss,
how "He" and "She" ignore, that "Yours" took
"s" from "Your" ...
and "It" has often sought, the "s" that "It's"
now got
the "Her" that once was "Hers", lost the "s"
that "It" prefers,
now "Everyone" is sad, sans the "s" that "Her"
once had,
and "They" is never "We", because "Them" is
"She" and "He"
so how can "Hers" be "His", without knowing
what "It" is?
"They" is oft' confusing, "Me" and "You"
aren't fond of losing ...
and "Their" unique causation, "His" and "Her"
abbreviation,
help "Myself" and "Me" conclude, "I" and
"Mine" are being rude,
but "Another" soon may see ... whether "Me"
plus "You" ...
makes "WE".

(The "It's" in line seven is intentional, and a contraction of "it has", NOT the possessive form).
Enough is enough of this seriousness
Back to the sillies where I belong
Here's something to ponder, my friends
Why is the word 'abbreviation' so long
I don't usually have to think twice
Before giving it a second thought
You're schizophrenic? That makes four of us
Skydiving is good to the last drop
Have you heard that gravity is a myth
In reality, it's the Earth that sucks
Did you know old people have a secret
That secret is known as luck
You know you have a small apartment
When Kellogg's Coco Pops echo
Maybe our world is another planet's hell
Sure wouldn't surprise me to know
Why do psychics have to ask you your name
Going to live forever... so far so good
I adore you more than beans and rice
If I could love you more I would
They say, hard work pays off in the future
I say, laziness pays off now
Some sage advice, never ever stand close
To the back end of a cow
All those who believe in psycho kinesis
Will you please raise my hand
People usually wind up in a prone position
While involved in a one night STAND
What happens if you get scared to death twice
What do sheep count to help them sleep
Ever wonder why all blackboards are green
Do birds shake wings when they greet
