We can build an orrery
Yet turn the sky into a junkyard
We're abecedarian, quirky contrarian
Stare decisis from cosmic ovarian
Subaltern, suborbital
Small steps on the heavenly stairway
Pedestrian stardust walking around
Tariffing penguins to tear up the ground
But the stairway is spiral
And it's spiraling down
No escape from the gravity
Found all around
Eyes searching the cosmos
For myopic bliss
In a fallacy galaxy
Far from star-kissed
We're worst when we're first
At least in our mind
Quoting chapter and verse
From each tract that we find
On the ground underneath us
That shifts with each step
Tract's gotten infected
Yet onward we schlep
Each bearing the burden
Of truth stumbled across
When we can patch the thatch
On the roof that we've lost
In that storm of ideas
That threatened the shelter
We've built for ourselves
Unstable ideas full on the shelves
We've forgotten to look
For the beauty inside
While we're gathering dust
From under our feet
Instead of uncovering
What's come from above
While planting our hopes
In the promise of love
The infant rays of sunlight
Filtered through the small panes
Of the sleepy Hobbitons, a wake-up
Call to the start of the day.
Shire-folks smoked weed
And Argentine ciphers born of
The plumes ripples into thin air
Carrying the dream of the day.
The wild Brandywine in her stately
Updraft, washes away the suffering
Of felled logs disturbing her flow
And dips them straight into the marshland.
The pretty flora of the ancient woodlands
Stack their dreams in swirling petals of which
Are later reborn in the night.
The proud Three Shire Oak stands as
A silent guardian to Whitwell wood
As woodpeckers prick into the cavernous
Echoes of his heart to find out his longing.
Remnant of white clouds like ancient
Ruins wander lonely over the Hills of Evendim
And reflections of a century’s History float
In their accord.
Shire! Fill me with your rainbow colors
And let me dive deep into your essence
And let me stay drowned in your dreams
Forever.
What is love?
Is it a catchy song you hear in the car?
Is it the feeling you get when you lock eyes with a friend from across a room?
Is it the connection you feel when you brush hands with a crush?
Is it the warmth you feel at the sight of your partner?
Is there truly a way to define something that has ruled over our world since its existence?
Does it truly even need defining?
Or is that just to soothe the human conscience?
Love may not be physical,
Hell it might not even be real.
But know this,
No matter who you are,
No matter where you’ve been,
No matter your appearance,
No matter any factor you think may determine your worth.
There is always at least one person who loves you.
And to anyone that may need even just an ounce of love in this world so full of hate,
I love you
I part petals
like quiet psalms.
I hear these hibiscus hymns
pressed to the pulse of morning,
where colour hums
in crimson breath,
and the wind
remembers my name.
It comes unbidden.
The song my soul never seeks,
it finds me anyway,
threaded through my ribs.
A tremor beneath my thoughts,
an ache
I cannot unlearn.
I feel
a violin verse
between venom and Venus,
drawing its bow
through my silence.
Each note,
a kiss.
Each chord,
a wound.
I taste love
dripping with poison.
I feel beauty’s sting
like truth.
And still
it rises in me.
The chorus a poet bleeds
restless,
unstillable,
moving in tides
of ink and ache.
A refrain
carved deep in my marrow,
learning the language
of my silence,
singing me open
again.
And again.
Until
I am lifted
beyond breath.
I kissed
an opera octave—
full-throated,
trembling,
infinite.
And in that surrender,
my heart,
no longer silent,
becomes
the hymn itself.
Even when you dream, be aware.
Vision with extreme, careful stares.
Light fills a passion, and it seems;
Be aware, even when you dream.
Inspire your fuel, be fashion.
And it seems, light fills a passion.
Cry when they cry. Don’t be cruel.
Be fashion, inspire your fuel.
Shine when can’t. Allow good to try.
Don’t be cruel, cry when they cry.
Grow from within. Water your plant.
Allow good to try. Shine when can’t.
To absorb what is dark. Again
Water your plant. Grow from within.
Honor sacrifice, a brave part.
Again. To absorb what is dark.
Galaxies crumble into your gaze,
charting bright shadows through a shimmering haze.
Beneath fluttering lashes, light learns to dance,
poignant and sweet, a breath of romance.
If beauty is the reason we love, then tell me
How do the blind fall in love?
What value is fair skin when the heart knows no kindness?
If mirrors reveal who we are, why do they never show our fears, our courage, our grace?
If black skin we question a lot, tell me what do you think about Black Panther?
If chubbiness is the reason for rejection, the tell me why you find elephants endearing?
If white is the colour of beauty,
Why is the birthplace of love, the heart, red in every body?
If face is what makes us stay, Why do we miss the dead?
I call them fool when they see beauty from their weak eyes,
I call them wise when they seek goodness in the soul,
I call a palace, a stone when no love makes it whole,
I call them blind, when they praise butterflies and shoo cockroches,
I call them racist, when they call white, pretty,
I call them patients, when they obese others,
I call them mad, when they joke about disabilities.
I call them human, Because we all judge too quickly.
Love ages with us
Old hands still hold each other
Walks become silent shuffles
Hugs an acrobatic activity
Kisses as daring now
As in the fever of memory
Laughter a gasping gift
Those “we will always have…..” moments
Time, the slow tick of longings ache
Whispering: “I love you”
A heart drawn on a napkin
A hint of sadness in a smile
The joy of knowing
That love
Is still love
Is still present
In passions fire
Burning in softened blue eyes
The touch of gnarled hands
The joy of “those’ moments
Of love aging with us
She, Aurora;
my dawn’s awakening
I shadow in her radiance;
everlasting will, past
her light burns out.
Wildly lush, breathing life, a vision
is the secret garden of my heart
springing forth, alive with hope
ready to be admired by your eyes.
I long for your presence
here, inside my heartbeat, my fertile soil
where earthy echos of songs are heard
let my soft, leafy tendrils embrace you.
Within my secret garden
my pistil flower scents delight and entice
come and bask in their sweetness
let love’s elixir flow on and on
in the springs of my garden.
Yet, my garden cannot flourish alone
it will not survive without you
let us be entwined together
two flowers blooming as one
within the secret garden of my heart.
Butterflies float
With petals and feathers
In every note
Of your voice. In its tenor -
Nectarine, white,
Full of light, full of sky -
There is delight -
And I will not ask why
Sometimes your voice
Shimmers like a bright star -
Sometimes it's close
Sometimes it's far
Sometimes I hear in it
Rivers and streams
Sometimes I see in it
Passions and dreams
Sometimes it crests
Like a wave in a sea
Sometimes it nests
Like a bird in a tree
Sometimes it rings
Like a vanishing bell
Sometimes it sings
As if casting a spell -
Sometimes it flings
Like a lasso, ensnares
Prey. Or grows wings
And then flies everywhere -
Sometimes it drops
Like a leaf from an oak
Sometimes it stops
Like a belltower clock
Sometimes it wafts
Like a sweet summer breeze
Or like a raft
It floats over the seas -
Sometimes I feel it
Caressing my ear
Holding me in it
Drawing me near.
Sometimes I glimpse
What your voice holds within
When it so seems,
I can fully glean
Its warmth and softness
Its passion and peace
Then I am lost in
The most perfect bliss.
We'll run to the side of the river
In the morning at five o'clock
We'll hold each other and shiver
And run out to the rock
We'll take off our shirts together
And hold each other undressed
Around us the birds will gather
And in our love build a nest
We'll put our heads together
And watch, as the speedy stream
Is dressed in every color
And turns into a dream -
The pink cloud of the sun rising
Engulfs our minds and hearts
And makes them warm and wise and
With all of nature, smart -
The delicacy of existence
Ephemerality of life
Will penetrate with no resistance
And pierce into us like a knife -
The tenderness of our passion
And elegance of your mind
In English, in French, in Russian
Will hold us intertwined
Poems will fly around us
As music us enslaves -
Cosmic opera astounds us
And mingle with the waves -
The works of Bethoven, Chopin,
Blake, Wordsworth, Shakespeare and Keats
Will our minds and hearts open
And feed them spiritual sweets -
And fired by our desires,
Together, as in a dream,
We'll blend into the sunrise
And like the sun we will beam.
Soft and warm is your heart, gentle orchid,
Sweet and tender are petals you bear
Bumblebees crowd your pistil. They lurk. It
Sends golden dust everywhere.
Would I knew where your tenderness comes from
Would I knew how your softness is made
Would I knew how your love makes the soul roam
To the heights and the depths, unafraid.
Would I felt your incredible beauty
On my cheeks, on my lips, in my heart,
Would I had one desire undisputed
Within my soul: to impart
Every beautiful thing that you know
To the people who need it the most,
By transmitting your tender glow
To their hearts and their minds. Though it cost
Me a lifetime, to give your true glory
To the world, to the stars, to the sky -
And though I never know your full story
I will never allow you to die -
No, I'll take you through time, you just glow,
I will take you to Venus and Mars
And when you are about to go
I'll establish you among the stars.
I will become your mirror
Showing you what you are
Making your beauty clear -
Clear as a shooting star -
I will reflect your nose
And your blue giant eyes
Your tasteful, fitting clothes
And your athletic thighs
I will reflect your hair
Elegant, long and white,
Your haunting, soulful stare
And loving, healing light,
Your noble, gorgeous features
And your heart, soft and warm
And all the precious creatures
That you hide from the storm -
I will reflect your kindness
And your internal state,
Your talent and the timeless
Beauty that you create,
Your incandescent passion
Your love and tenderness
Your elegance and fashion
Everyone that you bless -
See your reflection in me
That I give back to you
What you evoke within me -
And if it be untrue,
Shatter me like a mirror
Scatter me wide and far
Forcing me to revere
As you say au revoir,
And as I piece the fragments
Into a disco ball
It will show without raiments
Essence and heart of All.
Your chest is moving up and down
With every tender breath
And body from the toe to crown
As you next to me rest
Your head is resting, and blonde hair
Swings down to every side
Are your dreams happy? Or nightmares
Behind those lovely eyes?
Your ears are pink; blush on your face
Soft and warm are your palms
How I delight in your embrace
And hope that you be calm -
And as your soul moves up and down
With every tender breath
Let me inside your spirit drown
And in there find - my rest.
