You can’t have character and an easy life
Despite the effort to avoid pain and strife
It can hollow you out seeking paradise
Irrevocable setbacks are the asking price
When choosing clothes, some people buy
Whatever seems to catch their eye.
They always pay the asking price
No matter what, and don’t think twice.
That isn’t me, for without fail
I’ll check to find out what’s on sale
And if it’s pricey, I might splurge
If on that day, I get the urge.
As far as stores, the upscale shops
Will not be on my frequent stops,
But nor will be a tacky store,
With schlocky clothes you can’t ignore.
I guess I like the middle range
When I decide I need a change,
So when I feel it’s time to go,
I’ll check out clothing stores I know.
Blurg Media is a group that buys cheap seat tickets
at half to3/4 " and even down to 1/4
of the asking price.of the price It's cheap
and relible!
and then makes a profit by adding 7% to the total sale.
it gets people in the seats!
When devouring a hot chicken pie
An advertised flat caught my eye,
I would hazard a guess
Judging from its address
That the asking price wasn’t too high.
I collapsed in a state of deep gloom
When the landlord denied me that room,
He said “Nothing’s worse
Than a chap who writes verse!”
Within minutes I started to fume.
After snatching some six hours of sleep
I thought I should challenge that creep,
For with scant explanation
His discrimination
Might cause a young snowflake to weep.
I knew I should counter his crime
With an angry yet passionate rhyme,
He was powerful and scary
And so arbitrary,
And his property’s well past its prime.
My letter, dispatched the next day,
Employed words that I’d rather not say
(They are not in the bible),
Then he sued me for libel,
So his rent I’m not able to pay.
So the lesson is easy to see -
Do not venture to write poetry.
It could end in defeat
Then you’re stuck on the street,
Simply begging for coffee or tea.
You may never know, for a true fighter will never show.
Their fear is always hidden, on purpose of course with careful intention.
Their anger is suppressed, under a tent of reluctant duress.
Their tears are held back, well until they are under attack.
Fighters are always armed, often they are farmed.
The cultivator's battles are long and drawn, using you as their pawn.
The fighters are cultivated with pain and regret, from others who were also under threat.
I hope you are a whiz with the answer, because this is the real question.
Will you continue to shy from the danger or transform yourself into a ranger.
From every heart felt smile, can build a new style of fighter.
Learning to be better than the other fighters, the ones that always knew how to get through.
Here is some cheesy advice, all coming to you from way below the asking price.
Keep your head held high and have patience to stand by.
For the fighter that is always left standing is usually chanting...
You will NEVER win, if I NEVER give in.

The millwheel will not turn again till spring
for Winter’s icy cold grip holds it firm.
She squeezes it like Her private plaything,
though Her crushing power is but short-term.
As shorter days subtly lengthened; the sun
slowly began to liquefy the ice.
And the waterwheel shook, and almost spun,
while the miller posted his asking price.
Whispers ran through the town from door to door,
the ice is breaking up at the millpond.
And housewives could soon buy flour once more,
for each village, and its mill shared a bond.
The millwheel shimmies free from Winter’s grip,
shuddering as the water level peaks.
And as pressure increases drip by drip,
the pond ice melts, and the wooden wheel creaks.

Parkette Market
Every city has their own Parkette Market;
Selling the forbidden to the hidden;
All, right out in the open.
No arrow towards their barrow;
Or sign to draw the line...
Please inquire for whatever you desire;
Pay the asking price for your own demise;
What a clever endeavor...
Oh, the irony of racketeer tyranny!

There sits next to me a new paint set, well okay, I got it second-hand.
Nothing about paint comes naturally to me. I can paint neither sky, sea or land.
I only have myself to blame, I now feel rather dim
Cuz I know I bought them on a whim
I used to compare my art to that of my classmate.
I did this with my creative writing also, regardless of how teacher would rate.
Do you suppose the person that the paints to me sold
Would refund my money if I am bold?
No, no I'm not a quitter, I'll see it through.
First things first, learn about shade, tone, and hue.
Blue, gray, purple, teal; all are mixed up in the box
But I love the rich warm colors. So I'll paint the town red, later we can have one of our nice long talks.
The person who sold them to me also gave me a nice brush and some canvases.
The brush she bought while in Paris. So, should I go take classes?
I had better learn to hold it properly.
You'll never be a painter, or writer for that matter, seriously Jo. Seriously!!?!!
Stop dreaming and go complete your list of chore.
The collection of 17 classical CDs. Asking price $17. Lead me to the dance floor.
Next to me there sits a new paint set...
Taking the Top Off the Bottom
Have a goal of taking your piece of the world apart,
Taking on, as many as you can, life’s kluges and quirks,
Buy a ticket to the reach the matter’s heart,
Aim to see how the inside works.
It takes imagination, the trajectory of a dart,
To see what is obscured, what lurks,
Shedding light on life’s gremlins’ starts,
Ending demons that drive us berserk.
But though it takes aerodynamic parts,
Be straight as an arrow or your effort won’t work,
Anything has a cause-effect mart,
Paying the asking price certainly irks.
Not paying is like swallowing a quart,
Of 100 proof liquid moonshine murk.
Getting beneath the muddy bottom is an art,
That teaches how to use a scalpel and dirk,
And to be alert, and Heaven knows we need more lerts
